so which games ur gonna follow guys? i really cant decide.
the results are mostly obvious for each game, i mean i surely dont wont watch
rapha vs stermy cuz its obviously gonna be a rape and kinda boring cuz of +back game
by stermy.(it's not gonna be his fault though). Avek is surely gonna destroy strenx, but
there may be a chance that strenx gets one map from him..Cypher vs noctis..Well i
support you noctis but i guess u can run but u can not hide from cypher dude..ggs.
Dahang vs Cooller is looking like the best choice..since cooller is gonna add some
breathtaking highlights to the game as usual..(means he will fuck up in the middle of a game
and will have to make a comeback.)
damn u eswc. its really so disappointing that all the matches are running at the
same time...

R3 - Cypher vs Cooller (always amazing)

Rapha vs av3k is good too but I already know rapha will pwn him.

I don't like Dahangs style.

Right now there are no matches on-line yet, but the stream is constantly buffering. Even the Low Quality. Does anyone experiencing that? Will it pass when the matches will start? It's unusual, the own3d.tv stream was always working fine for me.

proZaC is cool but he needs to stop talking over 2GD. I realise that when you're casting with someone like 2GD who can talk pretty much non-stop (which is good!), it can be difficult to say something yourself. But the constant "yeah" and "exactly" is just annoying. Also, his mic is louder, so every time he talks, 2GD gets buried underneath.

Please keep in mind that in the last ESWC, there was a rule that said that the maps doesn't count between all the players in the groups. Only the maps that were played between the players in the 3-way-tie matter.

If the rule still stands, I think that means av3k is already in the semi-finals.

It was an interesting situation:
1. If strenx would win vs stermy, there would be two players with 2 wins and 1 loss, rapha would be in the first place from Group A.
2. If stermy would win strenx (which happened), there was a three-way-tie and only the maps between the three players mattered. Av3k's first, rapha's second, and stermy is the unlucky third.

Also, if stermy would win 2-0 instead of 2-1, he would advance and rapha would be out. I'm really sorry for stermy and it didn't matter for strenx if he would lose 1-2 or 0-2.

This stermy situation together with the telefrag controversy in DreamHack and... well, strenx isn't exactly the most pleasant person in the Quake Live Pros community ;D

wcg 2001 was so awesome, my all-time favourite game was played there: stelam vs blokey on pt4 where blokey did not manage to get a railgun for the first 10 minutes of the game

Thumbs down for 2GD.
I like his commentary, but the way this guy approached Slasher in a live show was completely out of line. Unprofessional yes, but even worse plain rude and uneducated.
Kudos to Slasher for keeping calm and not responding to it.

If yu have a personal problem, you need to keep thay out of your live show guys. Slasher tried to do it, but 2GD just showed that he really lacks in some departments, which is a shame as he such an important part of Quake right now.
Also, I didn't feel Slashers commentary was bad, but I was entertained, so thanks for that.

That's a good point, Slasher is doing so much work for the Quake community and while he is not the most loved shoutcaster he is a valuable and consistent asset for everybody that is interested in Quake and has been for years and years. Thanks for your work Slasher.

There is a limit for how disrespecting you can be of a colleague, and 2GD needs to realise this is not 6th grade, but that he is on a liveshow with 2000 people wathcing him. It was just embarassing and horrible.

Well I think they just fool around and I don't know why you take it so serious. A stream should be entertaining at first and professionalism doesn't necessarily mean entertainment. I like it, it feels like in the old days, when ppl didn't take themselves so seriously. You shouldn't take everything with a pinch of salt - not in "e-sports".

2GD with prozac and 2GD with calipt are really good shoutcasting combo's.
Having the other commentator as another pro player means they catch one or two points which 2GD misses.
Hopefully 2GD and prozac do some more shoutcasting together.

Also i think the slasher vs 2GD was just plain funny although slasher is not saying much so its making the stream better. (no offence to slasher but he just isn't good enough compared to the other 3 on the stream)

That was not a joke between them. Didn't you notice how emotional it got, and that Slasher really disappeared from the stream after that?

There are limits, even if I know that especially american tv commentators love the occasional poke at each other for fun, this wasn't that at all, but a comlete assault and altercation during a live stream. Notice how Slasher recognized that 2GD completely went off limits and did not respond, deciding to save the situation, because it would have gotten too ridiculous.

Obviously there was humour involved, but that made for pretty uncomfortable listening. They seem to genuinely dislike eachother, so even the 'jokey' stuff comes across with a hard edge.

At the very least, 2gd should have realised that Slasher was taking it personally and cooled things off. (I respect the fact that he wasn't going for maximum hurt, and he did make a half-attempt to be nice at one stage, but still. There was even a game going on eventually, giving him the perfect excuse to stfu and commentate, but no.)

Calipt came across pretty well though... stayed out of it for the most part, then took 2gd down a peg (without being full on nasty) once the game was over.

I want to focus on the games. I guess 2GD is joking, but not really to me. I'm rather frustrated and told him off the air to knock it off. I want to keep the stream as professional as possible for all the viewers watching who are not from ESR, and who furthermore could care less about any petty drama between the two of us.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't remember anyone saying Cypher could still go through with a 2-0 win until much later in the game (still on dm13). After Slasher came on, 2GD summed up what he thought was the situation and Slasher said something along the lines of "we figured this out 45 minutes ago already". So at first Slasher was actually just as wrong as 2GD, and with his "we knew this already" comments he pissed 2GD off and that's when things started getting nasty. It's not until later in the dm13 match that someone said Cypher could still go through with a 2-0 and Slasher added a "that's what I've been telling you" when that's not what he said in the beginning at all since he was agreeing with 2GD and saying "we figured this out 45 min ago". That's how I remember it anyway, I could be wrong.

All he had to say was what you just wrote and be done with it. tbh the commentary was finally fine after three days (best duo so far is 2GD + calypt) and this could have been avoided if Slasher hadn't chosen to hop on the stream and stay. 2GD is also to blame for continuing it for too long though.

I don't understand why are you all criticize 2gd. He's making the show entertaining and fun. I don't know how much an idiot should a person be to not understand that he is joking and all of his Slasher remarks are not serious. I don't see any reasons why Quake commentary should not be fun. Also I don't understand where people get the idea that "professional" means "boring, conventional, monotonous, cliche and uncreative". Professional means that you do your job well, and 2GD does it well - he tells much more about the game than 10 slashers could do, he's explaining players' moves, tells us some interesting facts about players, and does it in an unconventional entertaining way. While Slasher can't even see what's happening in-game (e.g. DaHang leaves mega on the platform and goes to look for a shot on enemy, and Slasher tells us: DaHang picks up mega. WTF? And only after 15 seconds he realised that Dahang actually left mega and delayed it), makes a lot of mistakes when talking about players, their results etc, doesn't know much about strategy, and talks in boring monotonous voice.
How could ANYONE even THINK of Slasher as being more professional than 2GD? Or how can anyone say that 2GD is unprofessional while he does his job better than anyone else?

Being good at what you do doesn't necessarily mean you are acting professional. Like you can be a great lawyer because you are charismatic and naturally smart, but that doesn' t mean that you act professionally with your colleagues or around the office.

Has nothing to do with Slasher supposedly thinking he got 2gd into esports, instead of realizing he put thousands of hours into playing quake or games in general to get to where he is or was at the time when this started. If somebody was pissing on the work I do for a living, then I'd bite back.

Slasher shouldn't of ever joined stream1 to begin with, and baiting with some group standing nonsense, 2gd/prozac's shoutcasting was going well and the usual was going on before that happened, so Slasher just joining it right when one of the bigger games is about to be played (while ditching there own stream2 viewers) did nothing but harm everyone on both watching on both streams.

Taking the morale high ground here doesn't mean anything when openingly ninja joining stream1 with negative comments and then making this drama (whether it was funny or insulting, doesn't matter) while the game was happening, that was unprofessional so please don't try act the professional and bigger man. Don't take the high ground when your action actually kicked started this feud, which you obviously already knew was there.

Granted 2gd probably went a bit overboard with his can of internet whoop ass but there's no smoke without fire and we don't know any of the facts.

PS. So much bandwagoning going on in comments, its like a national newspaper. :D

Even if the games at this event had been more thrilling, which they weren't IMO, or the event had been more stacked in terms of players, also questionable, ESL showed tons more of the good games, didn't have them play at lol'o'clock in the morning when even people on CEST wouldn't want to wake up and ESL used Bo5 in the playoffs. Also the stage + crowd was good for ESL, seems non-existent for ESWC.

Game, set and match to ESL IMO.

(That's without taking into account hardware at ESWC which perhaps can be equalled out with ESL's DDoS problems)

Unfortunately the app they are using to cast doesn't play well with the 3 sound cards in my system. Then I tried some Virtual Sound Card and it seemed to work but all it did was loop the audio.

Why the drama too? Kinda weak...

even on dm13, he didnt control his patience , there was a moment which avek was like 120 hp , no armor and he had 100 hp and 150 armor or something and he just jumped onto avek`s rocket man.. cooller always loses to himself.. its a shame cuz i like so much the way he plays

Cypher = avek = rapha = cooller (+- dahang , stermy).

rember second stage groups. rapha could drop in it, becoz stermy beat him. so final four would look diferent. clear?

in most i-views top players told, that cypher avek rapha cooller is in same level and we saw it. (but stermy and dahand did more then lot of us expected). clear?

Stermy doesn't get fooled easily. He gets out fought at items mostly, like combination attacks (av3k/cypher) and then out aimed (strenx) but he almost never gets surprised from an opponent.

This is why Stermy can own Rapha. Rapha's traps wont work and when they fail and stermy is in front of him, hes going to out aim Rapha so fucking hard.

I have faith in av3k. If he wins against rapha tomorrow he's really earned it.

It will be an interesting match up, and I agree a BO5 would be best. Still, if rapha goes into Tournament Mode his chances are slim.

z4 and czm are too old and could never reach the level of top3 nowadays. especially with 2 new maps and a new gameplay. z4 can't take a map from rapha/dahang even after practicing for months.

Cooller not being able to win, again, doesn't make me less of a fan tbh. He's still my favorite player by far, the way he controls a map is still so exciting to watch. Rapha might be able to do the same thing, and even better, but he's just not that entertaining to watch for some reason. I guess he's almost too good, too calculated for me to enjoy. Does that make sense?

Anyway, just for some change, I hope avek can take down rapha tomorrow.

yep cooller sure can run the map alright, but somehow he doesn't seem to be able to get any frags out of it. He's really patient in his game and he plays the map flawlessly, but imo his problem is that he's not playing the opponent as much as he plays the map (running items and waiting for an opportunity, instead of creating them like av3k). Then eventually he runs in to a fight where despite having a bigger stack, he gets outaimed and looses the map control.

well, no doubt cooller is one of the best quake player ever.

But, if you compare to toxic, rapha or... Fedor, then he doesn't deserve that reputation :).
I mean, everyone screaming "COOLLER <3" like virgins as if the guy was God himself. Cooller won 2 ESWC, right, but tbh czm could have won ESWC 2005, i mean, "all time lucky", if you see what i mean....
And he always get beat by av3k... Not to mention his arrogance, but anyway, don't know the guy enough, so i'm not sure about that. And he's kinda small irl also.

Cooller is all dodges, timings, positioning and predictions (well rapha is 5 steps ahead but still, cooller is one of the best at predicting the opponents). Ok his aim is still very good, but if i had to choose between toxic, cypher, strenx and him, i would choose him for sure :). If i had to play some amphi or DA, i would choose cooller for sure :P.

But if you're talking about classic duel, then yeah, cooller is probably one of the thoughest quake player ever.

I still can�t get over how 2g acted towards slasher. Slasher is so great for our community, it�s hard to listen to someone treat him that way. I love 2g; I think he is one of the best around. But for me, he owes our community and slasher an apology for the way he acted. Yes 2g, soe is one fine mofo�but do you have to keep mentioning your girlfriend? Just like some of you cooller fan boys, it�s hard on me to being a strenx fan. Now of course I do have rapha as all time favorite player which makes up for a lot, but I would like to see strenx do more considering I watch him all the time on online tournaments.

It was sad to see strenx throw his match against stermy, in hopes that rapha doesn�t make it. That move right there will really make it hard for me to be strenx biggest if not only fan. I hope he can make it up somehow (win a LAN tourney would be nice), but it will be hard. Fair play means a lot, and it is just not fair to throw a match to either win or lose it for someone.

GL av3k, you�re a freaking beast dude!

There just couldn�t be a better champion or person representing quake than rapha, a true down to earth guy.

I don't know how the games in the group had to end, neither did strenx I guess. Perhapse he wanted to prove to himself that he could win against stermy. Stermy who won against rapha.
Why wouldn't he? There is no shame going out in style.

Not everyone drops a game because they were asked to. Not saying anything like that was going on, but there is one particular incident which is written in the history books already.

Maybe that's why the games were played at the same time.
I wouldn't be surprised if it were.

I think it was fate.

I would also hope that strenx now finally can get rid of this online-here stamp he's been given. He has proven himself as a really good player. A total upset, espescially against cooller.

Coollers 'suck it' comment after that game was uncalled for. I lost all respect for him after that.

I got to admit that I like strenx too. Because he's constantly improving from event to event. Just take a look at his ztn play a few weeks ago and compare it to his ztn vs av3k and cooller <3. He has by far the best lg aim, awesome rails/plasma and also pretty decent rockets (underrated imo). He just needs to play a little bit smarter and have his nerves (dm6 vs cooller with mg -.-) under control and then he might be a contender for a big tournament win.

If rapha would play cooller/av3k instead of dahang, the outcome of this tourney would have been sooo different, knowing that dahang gets constantly beaten by rapha by a large margin.

Rapha got lucky that he came 2nd from his group. Im not saying that he wouldn't pass cooller or avek, but for sure it would be so much harder.

then vs cypher i don't know what happened, did he deliberately threw the match or not.

and vs avek it was a slaughter. he had less confidence than strenx.

There were no spesific rule about this, I couldn't find it anyways.
Slasher(I believe) said something like strenx map win against av3k didn't count so that's why av3k won the group.
Mav said that rule would apply in a 3-way tie if they'd stick to the old eswc rules, if I recall correctly.
But it wasn't a 3-way tie.

I admit I don't get it.

so map strenx won didn't count, but maps av3k won vs him counted? that's cool. also, they both (rapha & avek) had 5-3, but rapha > avek in their match so seriously, avek being top of his group is mystery to me. not that cooller would win vs rapha, he wouldn't if he was playing same thing as vs avek but all this tournament has been odd regarding almost everything, starting from that k1llsen noctis rematch. organisators seem to have rigged this 2nd group stage so you can watch eu vs usa finale.

Everyone is aware of cooller's shortcomings, for instance he has a hard time racking up frags when in control, not the best aim and so on. Yet still he manages to do some really inventive and clever stuff now and then and that's what people like to see, don't know what's the problem really.
To me it's pretty clear that cooller has to be considered an underdog at most tourneys nowadays (talking about actually winning it) and isn't it obvious that people like to cheer for the underdog who plays his very own style and still manages to place pretty high most of the time?

yeah? and how many major quake 3 tournaments were there since eswc 2005, 3? 4? the 2 eswc 08 events and gamegune (if you consider that major) also cpl 06 where he finished 2nd in i believe, czm's revenge

in quake4 he was one of few who beat toxjq, and netted himself even more tournament wins before retiring, coming back to quakelive at the end of last year, and since then has only improved until this tourney where he didn't look or play like his usual self.

Again, it isn't my argument as I really don't care who is favored by the community. I was merely attempting to help you understand why some might think that Cooller is overrated (the question you implied). Half the Cooller fanboys weren't even around when Cooller was actually dominating Q3, so most are just repeating what others say without realizing that he hasn't managed to win much of anything in five years (almost half the entire lifespan of the Q3/Q4/QL era thus far, and twice as long as his disjointed time on top). The other side of the argument are those who would prefer to quantify legitimate contention utilizing wins over time. Zero in five years is not considered to be favorable by this crowd.

Let's put it into perspective since you mentioned the other "few" who beat Toxic. Off the top of my head, I can also remember Avek, Cypher, Dahang, and Fatality* beating Toxic in Q4; there were probably more. But since that WSVG Q4 season (and the end of competitive Q4), Avek and Cypher have each won multiple international Q3/QL events; Cooller, Dahang, and Fatality have not. And for the record, Cooller didn't win any other Q4 (nor Q3/QL) events.

It's become natural for most, then, to consider Cypher and Avek as top contenders in recent events (yes, there have been more than just three Q3/QL events since 2005). In contrast, not Cooller, Dahang, nor Fatality have won a major international LAN since Q4 (I don't believe Fatality ever managed to do so in a Quake game post-2001). In fact, even Dahang's win over Toxic is more recent and arguably more significant as Toxic was in his prime at that point versus Cooller's comparatively nascent victory. Thus, it is the argument of Cooller's anti-fans, whom question the repeated exaltation of a former champion who has since repeatedly failed to climb back to the summit, that Cooller does not deserve to be considered a favorite for a modern Quake title.

To these critics, this would be nearly the same as touting (a hypothetically reactivated) Fatality or czm, or even Dahang as the ESWC/Quakecon 2010 favorite. It isn't about whether or not Cooller is a strong player; they're calling out his fanboys who immediately assume him to be a strong favorite upon entry into any tournament despite his inability to win a major event in the past five years (I'm not sure about other people, but I don't count a single pre-finals WSVG Q4 stop as major).

Sure, Cooller won a WCG, 2x ESWC, and a CPL; all of which were considered world titles at the time, but were all more than four years ago. I believe the anti-fan sentiment is, excluding <1st, "what has he done lately to warrant such blind support?"

A recent comment to this thread captures the concept: "He's a really great player, but he's become obsolete."

In the end, I was only hoping to clarify the argument for you. Who flames whom and their subsequent butt-hurt are "not my trouble."

* that somebody has the charisma others lack
* that somebodies games are more entertaining than others'
* .....

Actually, you've revealed the apples and oranges of the argument that makes it all so silly. It's a matter of one side arguing that Cooller, without a recent title, is undeserving of endless spraying for his past laurels against fanboys who hope to see a triumphant Cooller. Technically neither side can win until Cooller takes a new title home; half of the anti-fans are frustrated closet Cooller supporters and would be overjoyed to see that happen anyway.

The parent post asked why some might call Cooller "overrated;" I just answered. Personally, I don't care for any of it =)

One side reads that as "my appreciation of Cooller's personality and playstyle will make this highly enjoyable, especially if Cooller performs well," and proceeds to OMG I'M SPR...

The peanut gallery reads the same statement as "Cooller will win probably win because he's so great" and starts shouting OVERRATED.

Wasn't really meant to. But he does have some responsibility to conduct himself in a professional manner, like Joe. He doesn't have become stuffy or change who is, just the way he is in front of camera. Then again you could view what he does/job as commentating on kids playing with toys, in which case he does a fine job. He was there to talk about the GAME, not Slasher or his poxy girlfriend making food...On this occasion he just detracted from game rather than enhance it.

It�s like this 2g. It would have been all fine and dandy if you would have stayed away from the personal attacks. It really got to me when you started talking about his hair and animals living in it, and you kept it going longer than needed be. I�m sitting at home enjoying the quake, thinking �WTF is going on here?� It wasn�t ass backwards that he joined your stream, I mean come on! He was to do a few games himself by himself (dj sleeping of course), and the guy had nothing to do. I�m sure he will not make that mistake and join you ever again, because you made him look like shit, but also gave him some sympathy cred in the community. You should have just turned up the quake sounds, turned the mics off and dealt with him properly. You still rule, but don�t let it get to your head. :P

But he dealt with him properly. We had a similar situation already, on IEM world I believe, where 2gd made it clear that he didn't like having slasher on his stream.

So signals have been given. Slasher should have known if those were sorted out. And if not, maybe ask before getting on stream. But maybe he doesn't get signals that easily.

So this time, it's been made abundantly clear. Personally, I have no problem with that.

Sounds like your reaction was justified against that background. I don't get how getting it on reddit is a bad thing for QL though, or how exactly slasher earns money directly from that.

Would seem to me that every possible website, forum, social networking site be it Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Digg or whatever has the potential to spread knowledge of the tournaments and get new people who've never heard of QL or eSports to watch the streams, play the game, etc.

For them to really get excited after doing that we do need entertaining casters and you're definitely one of the best. Personally I do think Slasher isn't terrible as a secondary commentator either :P

Just so you know, Slasher's reddit post hit front page really quickly. I don't know anyone else in the eSports industry with the kind of social media sway that Slasher has. Its not all self promotion, Rod does a lot for the Quake scene in general.

I remember that.

From what I could tell people were just brushing it off as "Oh they know each other, they're just doing some friendly banter" but when you know you two really dislike one another it gives off a real bad vibe on the stream when we all just want to relax and watch some good quake.

There's really not much to add and I hope this BLC project ends up awesome and maybe even us as Quake players will one day have 8.8k people watching a stream that isn't live yet, in anticipation for a grand final. :--d (like the dota stream today lolol)

In the future please keep this dumb shit in private, it really doesn't help anyone and makes the whole thing look amateurish. The EG cup was a much better example of how to present this material to people, but I'm not sure if you can handle that level of professionalism (constantly anyway). I remember your WoW casts with one guy (I can only remember lumberjack shirts or something) were a real mess because he was an idiot and you just took the piss out of him the whole time.

Also I hope this "I'm going to change eSports... will tell you how laterz" actually works out, I'm not sure anyone making that sort of claim has ever done anything even remotely useful.

Coollers nerves are shot. He probably does lines off a strippers ass in moscow or something we don't know.

He's a really great player, but he's become obsolete.

Rapha is the new cooller. He's got the brain for items and strategy and is an EPIC MASTER at clutch games and keeping his nerves in check.

If you're playing basketball and you are down 2 points with 10 seconds to go, you'd always hand it off to Rapha, and he'd sink that 3 pointer 10/10.

Objectively, when Cooller is in shape and confident, he's by far the most impressive player in my opinion

He has perfect timing (best), great and fast movements (best), crazy reflexes (best), and insane aim (best?)

The most impressive matches I've seen, from a spectator stream pov, are Cooller's duels

Cooller vs DaHang ztn (old hitboxes, true)

Cooller vs draven dm6

Then I'll probably say

rapha vs Cypher t9

and

Cypher vs fox ztn @ last dreamhack

In this order

But, and it's probably strange for a Russian, this guy is clearly not a machine (unlike rapha), he's godlike on monday, and (barely) average pro on tuesday

Sometimes it looks like he woke up 5 minutes before playing and drank/smoked the whole night

Generally he collapses the last day of a big event, this time he collapsed on 2nd day... (btw I don't like those 4-5 days events, 2 days should be the max seriously)

And I never was a Cooller fanboy, I was cheering for Jibo when I started watching duels in 2003 (the good old school Jibot @ m_yaw 0.019 and no accel, but it's another story)

noone in this world knows more about quake duel than cooller. and NO, not even rapha. but cooller keeps on losing too much time while in control on collecting items instead of getting the frags, waiting 4 or 5 minutes for the opportunity to get 3,4 clean frags, and his strategy and lack of aggression seems less efficient vs top3 players.

he's impressive in terms of understanding the game, he has the best strafe in the world, but that is not enough to be #1.

Being #1 in what terms? Recent wins? Obviously he isn't, but that's not what french anonymous was talking about. And the points he made on cooller being "best" are clearly debatable.

What is right though is that cooller can beat anybody when playing his best game. That he's shown amazing games in the past, providing lots of excitement and wtf moments. And that he's still a top ranking player.

Right now, his problem seems to be that he isn't able to bring his game to it's peak when it counts most. What people refer to as "choking". Why that is, no clue, and it certainly is hugely disappointing for people rooting for him.

That doesn't take away anything from the other points though. And could change any day anyway.

That said, what I personally find most impressive is that, with 8 years of pro tournament playing, he's still able to perform at that level. I mean, I just can't imagine him playing much quake in his spare time "for fun". In fact, I would assume that the game has become largely boring to him. Still, he participates and poses a serious challenge to each and every top player in the world, constantly beating the majority of them. Frankly, that's a pretty amazing accomplishment by itself.

but if you look at how much he practices nowadays, its obvious that he cares more than he ever did to be #1 again.

i'm not saying he's not awesome to spec (when he's on his game), cause he is, but the "best ever" in his case has obviously nothing to do with results. look at rapha's majors, look at z4 majors. with cooller, it's charisma, intensity of his games, his way of thinking, and long past glory. but not success, since...2005.

i hate the shit out of him now, but i'm still gonna root for him in the next tournament, lose 2 lbs while watching him as i always do, and get raged like a motherfucker after the game.

Ok, let's not go back to the "best ever" discussion again, also because french anonymous wasn't alluding to that at all.

In terms of working harder than ever, I don't know. A week at the office in cologne is all I know of (side note: when Boris Becker had his first performance crisis he later said that the reason for his issues was him feeling like "going to office" when going to the tennis court). Maybe he does work hard. Maybe he cares more than ever. But then, maybe he still hasn't found the right attitude to approach tournaments, seen from the point he's coming from. I can only speculate why it doesn't work out.

And I know though that you'd like to see him take a win again. And raging each time he loses a crucial game in an apparently dumb and sloppy way. It's hugely, hugely disappointing, and I'm suffering each time just the same.

But, and what I'm saying now might sound a little gay, I do respect rapha, like and admire cypher, enjoy avek, but I can only love cooller. It's not only the games he plays. It's also all the history that comes with him. In my mind, I still see that skinny, pale 16 year old kid roaming the world, at a time when major tourneys were mainly played in the US of A, and how stunned I was by the ambition and courage of that little guy. And he's grown dear to me ever since, for reasons mentioned often enough.

So yeah, I'm doing just the same. Feeling seriously down each time he loses, but still coming back to desperately see him win. And once he does, it'll be all the sweeter. In fact, I'm just glad each time I see him coming back. Because, technically and considering how little money and prospect there is in quake gaming, he should be spending his time on other things by now.

its quite hilarious that people discredit cooller. hes been around since 2002 and consistently placed top 3, winning many of the biggest tournaments that quake has had defeating ALL of the great quake players at some time or another. who else has done this? no-one! hes also one of (if not the) most entertaining players to watch in and out of the game.

and since when has finishing top 3 (in the world) been bad?
