well the negative accel at high speeds is due the it polling at 125Hz, because of an 8-bit buffer, as Sujoy showed in his tests. bumping it up to 250 or more solves it.

Do you LAN often enough to warrant that? Also, it's allowed at least at Quakecon.. or was last year, i didn't play this year except as a fill in on a CTF match.

as far as i know steam has program properties/attributes (for advanced users).

i remember it because everytime i reinstalled cs i turned accel off with a specific command which i typed into steam (not cs console!).

noforce cmds just disable windows xp's built in accel from entering the game, so the same as accelfix.

Because it is unmeasurable it is useless!

i haven't played quake in about a year now and even if my diamondback broke i'd still get another one because i get annoyed when i whip my mouse around the desktop and it ends up going insane

Just because thumb button has practically no use in Quake doesn't mean it can't be used in other games...

I went from the G3 (Never thought I'd give it up) to a Deathadder, then QUICKLY to the 3.0

Love the mouse, I put on MS Teflon feet from Steelseries, super smooth. I was used to the G3 surface and grip, so going to the 3.0 was a bit slippery, but I think Steelseries has some kind of grip pads you can put on it.

Regardless, Deathadder is WAY too slippery, maybe it's fine for high sensitivities, but for low ones, doesn't seem practical =\

why on earth anyone would buy a 3.0 intellimouse when they can buy a deathadder with practically the same shape, better hardware and software (optional) instead is way beyond me, ultra-fail thread

realworld performance comes after a mouse hz patch, accel patch and fixes to double click speed

the mouse is good enough even without all those fixes and it costs half the price of the DA here :)

the mouse has no issues without patching for me

it works perfect up to 40cm/360

only downside is the dpi, which means you can only play "perfectly" on resolution up to 1024*768 from my experience

Any mice any serious quaker/gamer will buy is 99.9999% enough to do the job. All it really comes down to is how the mouse "feels".

yeh i know, but the 3.0 is so highly renowned because at 500mhz and no accel it really is the best mouse, but try get that effect on newer service packs and operating systems, most of which are used @ new computers/lan computers :)

maybe a few years ago it was the perfect mouse because it felt nice, aswell as a lot of other mice, and im sure it still comes out on top at home on ones own computer, but today with all the new events around, if you're going to attend them its just not practical

for example: i34 final, i had 5 minutes to get on the stage computers and install my drivers, tf2 config, get in game and play - ok its not always like that but in this case, luckily razer drivers were already installed, or if not, luckily my mouse saves my settings i have at home / on the computers i was using in the byoc area - if i had a msoft mouse id of needed to first install hz fix and accel fix - what if it was service pack 3? or vista that didnt have sp1?

so it some cases it does not always come down to how the mouse feels :)

Won't really bash you for that point of view, but most people will never get into such a situation to begin with which is kinda what my mouse choice would be based on (trying to talk my way out of this one blahblah).

did the same, went from a G1 which I loved, to a IE3.0 which felt really cheap. after that I got a trusted 1.1a which is great! feels much more rigid compared to the 3.0. I have no idea about negative accel or stuff like that, I don't notice stuff like that if they are subtle enough and just adapt instead.

Sounds familiar, I broke my G1's mousewheel and bought the MS3.0 just to see what the rave was all about (and because Ph4ntom used it, duh!). In the beginning it felt really crap as well, I adapted after a while. I can't say if it improved my aim or something, but I can say it feels really comfortable after a while (like most things).

If I ever get around to actually play games (quakelive or something) again I might try out the 1.1a just for shits and giggles since the shape is somewhat comparable (in a broader sense) to the MX300,MX310 and the G1.

well i had a 3.0 and the wheell just ... died. Then i got a 1.1a and never looked back ;D

I got MS 3.0 now, got Razer Deathadder on the way. What can i expect?

yep i was sure of that before i ordered.

that sucks, I've only ever had one thing take a touch more than a week and that was recently with a Shakespeare book but I was pretty sure it went out of stock the second I ordered it.

then again I've not ordered anything from play.com for ages considering I've stopped buying films so maybe they have slipped up as they move up the commercial ladder :(
