Well that chant is quite catchy.

Wrestling works like this. The company said to him to say that yes chant a whole lot, turning him into a character/gimmick. Wrestlers are mostly bodybuilders, former sportsmen and wrestling nuts that do what they are told to, by giving them only some bullet points on what to say and of the outcome of the match, among others.

That wrestler in particular is quite a good actor and ring performer as well (actor, again). He says those lines, improvises and flies around the ring like few do. However having potential and charisma does not necessarily mean becoming popular, and popularity / selling tshirts is the name of the game in wrestling and in any tv show.

Both aspects converge in popularity: the gimmick and storyline given by the company + the execution of the wrestler.

Then the chant worked so well with the audience that they kept on pushing him, by giving him more spotlight time in the show, a unique appearance (a huge beard), further developing his character by making him look like the underdog of the company as the plot of the whole show, this so people are more empathetic and attached to him (not only a gimmick anymore), gave him wins against big names and so on, while keeping the yes chant and pushing that line to the sky.

All that worked so well that he became one of the most popular wrestlers of the company, so he won the title in wrestlemania.

The thing is all that happened because of the yes chant, at the beginning, in the middle and in the climax. The whole successful run he had in wwe comes down to that apparently idiotic stuff. That company writer was really smart.

The yes chant success is a joint effort of the company (good lines/character) and of how well the wrestler did his job. It's not only one or the other.

there were un-announced movement changes across the board (they also effect classic modes) but we werent told about them.
Some seem more sensitive to them than others.

didn't you feel you wanted to alter your sens after the update?

increased ground-speed ---------->edit: (strafing - not walking/running)
increased accel from circle-jumps
increased air-control

clipping on scenery is a joke
ledge-grabbing is different

also 'knock-back' - or at least if you hit a rocket near your opponent they bounce up like something in a cartoon

My main issue with all of this is it's now making me very ill (nauseous) when I play... and I've played 15 years.
Currently I'm unsure exactly 'how' they've changed things - but these are certainly some of the effects.

there are other posts on here where this is mentioned - unfortunately they are spaced all over and not under the one banner.

yes - just strafe and see (not walking/running - nothing to do with auto-hop)

tele-exit speed is up too (but that could be a knock-on from something else)

trouble is - you've been using it for a fortnight now - so you're not going to notice it to the same degree.

I can't believe people can't see/feel this - after years of playing the same maps - don't you notice it now takes less strafe's to cover the same distance?

gave the new update a try. Thought it was strange my aim was fine when standing still but couldn't compensate when moving like it was all over the place, was gross feeling. I thought it was just a sensitivity reset/me being rusty.

Curious if that auto jump movement acceleration? is being applied regardless of jumping.

Not gonna log in and try but sounds like 320 is cap still, but could test if the ramp up is different by comparing old and new demos. With time-scale and a clip where you run in a straight line (to give consistent* results) could see if the speed increase is different.

yeah - will try

the speed increase comes with strafing - you gain much more from your original cj now.
People are saying they find the game much faster now.

there are also changes to air-control and weapon 'knock-back'
Try some rj's and plasma climbs.

-new announcer voice (it better be good edit: oh god. it's not.)
-medals and stuff à la Impressive/Excellent for midairs (any projectile), combos (any weapon + rail), Rampage (3 frags in 3 seconds), etc.
-Restored lightning gun knockback (while maintaining it's recent damage reduction).
-Obituary messages now queue, so that we don't lose death messages.
-Obituary icons now fade out after displaying.

most importantly, extraQL still seems to work flawlessly. Yay.

gay voice. how can u dump the q3 arena voice for that shit? if anything i thought u'll add the option to have the female voice from cpma, not 1 shit voice forced
also, pings in server browser still dont work, dont update upon refresh

VO was like slow mo. well at least Hearth is better balanced and improved (edit: but no way perfect) in FFA, but make this for other small / mid sized maps too plz.

To be fair 16 player games are entirely user customised.

QL spawns FFA servers at 8.

the whole thing about ffa in the past has been loads of players on the server, having fights in different areas, with focal points. At the moment its too spammy with the loadouts on these congested maps.

8 players means small maps with loudouts, less population of servers. Still quite good fun, on a smaller basis, and quite duel like. imo it's too duel like designed for some reason, and not the FFA theme. It's like someone from a Duel background, who has no idea about FFA, tried to design the FFA mode.

Still the larger servers are the best imo, for getting more players to join servers, so that you get different action points, that arn't overdominated by 5 new spawners. etc. but still with the loadout balance needs new maps etc
