Ok, seems something wrong with demo and i have to load the map by creating a server and load the map to authenticate the demo which a person said here - http://www.esreality.com/index.php?a=post&...pid1752164 . The problem is i didn't buy this game so i can't create a server of the map l4md_1 because the cd key is in use. Any solutions?

Are you using the demo menu to play the demo? If not, why not? ;)

The Q4Max demo menu will both check that you have the correct pk4's and tell you which ones are missing (if you've set the enforce fs setting), and should also resolve this issue for you (it is nothing to do with authentication).

Edit: hm, just read that again.... before doing that, buy the game if you want further help from me - it isn't exactly expensive.

not exactly passion, making a map is passion, you can play the original Q4 maps with r_gamma above 1.6, all the lights to too bright and textures all look complete shit with bump 1024 and default light materials used in the standard light entity

seta image_downSizeBumpLimit "1024"
seta image_downSizeSpecularLimit "1024" <-better 640

both will make the texture look rubbish with too much brightness or contrast when they are both set to 1024, with the default light entity in maps using the default material shader

Q43A has its own material light shaders setup, so maps all look better without having to tweak them in the map editor

1st make sure you have all the needed paks (most likely you did that already).
2nd try changing "Enforce files" option in demos menu. If I recall correctly most demos should be played with "enforce media only". Demos should start all right after all, yet you might see some small bugs on screen like empty hud bars etc.

Yep, enforce fs is the answer - either media only, or all should do. If it asks for more pk4s, get them, rather than toggling to not enforced

Hey yoyo, you'll also need to have a separate q4 install folder that's only updated to 1.3 instead of 1.4.2 if you're wanting to watch those WSVG demos

1.3 and 1.4 are the same assets, you can just change the demo version in a hex editor, or some unknown to me proper editor, demo files are just scripts

The protocol version changed because the data sent is different (incompatible) on the engine side, and so that wouldn't work, even if mod-side things weren't changed.

server demo`s are the same as the normal demo, if you make a normal demo while playing online, you might not have any effects, serverdemo are just another shit bit of code that works as a work around instead of recoding a small bit of recording a normal demo code

demos are shit, use fraps, and they a pixel perfect to avi, if you want to upload your pixel perfect demos to youtube and moddb, you make it mpeg2 when you compress it, the serverside transcoder destroys xvid/divx etc

Demos show effects just fine. The only reason you think that is probably because you are playing with pure 0, or demo_enforcefs 0, and so the effects decl index is wrong.

As for what is sent, obviously demos (both server and client) are just a log of the network traffic, essentially. That includes things like the usercmd data that the engine sends, and this was optimised in 1.4 to save on bw, but this unfortunately breaks network (and so demo) compatibility with 1.3 and earlier.

command recordnetdemo is for clientside demos

if you use recorddemo while on a dedicated server you only sometimes have effects recorded and shown when you playback the demo

recordnetdemo is exactly the same but will record all effects all the time
