zpnq, your suggestion is idiotic; your "simple" script does exactly the same as this:
bind e "+zoom"
no reason whatsoever to use seta and vstr and shit.

oh, and no reason to put this even in your autoexec.cfg; you can simply do that bind in the controls menu and have it put in the main cfg for you. the "god danm [sic] complicated" script above actually does something useful and can't be done with a script.

or, in case they get posted, here's the correction: i had missed that the e key is bound to toggle on each press, instead of on press and release. the +vstr idea up there in #5 had thrown my thinking off. the thing is, while +vstr is very handy, it doesn't actually exist in vanilla q3a. only some mods have it, such as ET.

this means that in vanilla q3a, there actually is no way to zoom in the standard style (zoom out on key release) and have the crosshair type/size automatically change along with the FOV.

so, get a mod ?
