respect isn't binary, and various gestures, like handshakes, are useful for signalling it. Recognition that you know a person and they know you and you are "okay" with one another is socially and psychologically useful...

My opinion is.

Initially its easy to think bad of clawz, especially due to a previous incident at quakecon.

But tox did tap him on the shoulder first and kinda stood there, that can be seen as a sign of disrespect (Tox would not have meant it that way), and maybe clawz's head was still in the game a bit as this was straight after which was no doubt a mentally challenging game.

Just goes to show though that someone always has a camera rolling and even if you don't want to, being seen as a good sport is important cos' people can like "not so good players" with good attitudes/vibe, but people in any sport/country will never take to good players who give them ammunition.

The video was definitely awkward and once again, clawz was sensational in game, but outside of it, got his fingers burned slightly.

Clawz has to address that, all he has to do is swivel the chair around after a game and wait to shake the other guys hand, and be engaging, even if it doesn't want.

The cameras are always rolling and its the final part of the game you have to play.

Thats up to you whether to shake hands or not. Just don't offer a hand and pretend you don't have any when you're offered to. Soon nobody will even try.

But when its about the sport event this is really the part of the whole show. If you participate in the official public sport event, which is being streamed worldwide, you kinda obliged to demonstrate a minimum level of sportsmanship. The point of handshaking is not to pretend you and your opponents are besties - its simply to demonstrate a good spirit and respect to each other and that you compete with each other not out of anger but simply in a sporty and healthy manner - this is like saying "its just a sport, i don't have a beef with you". And this is even more humiliating for you, because it shows you lack a very minimum of manners and basically don't know how to behave yourself in public and on cameras. Unprofessional if you prefer.

Rapha is like the absolute opposite of Clawz in that matter.

That's what Latrommi told me. He is very busy generally so it makes it difficult for him to train properly with 2z, plus after the semi-fiasco last time there was a 4v4 competition, 2z guys kind of put the blame on him (he himself thought that was not right) so he told me he thought they will try to replace him anyway, and since they play with toxjq from time to time now...

So, it's just what Latrommi told me, it's as official as that at the moment.

Video is still here but private for now. I will make it available later on when there is less hype about this and people hopefully won't use it to try to discredit Clawz when it's not appropriate. The fact that people took the video (which was supposed to show the moment of victory only as the title said) and changed the title to imply that Clawz was disrespecting tox really pissed me off. The video has been seen a lot and lots of comments are insulting Clawz because of this false reddit name and so on. So when things are better, it's probably going to be online again.

There is no real happiness reaction after the win anyway, so the video in itself isn't that important.

Dude seems like he is kind of socially awkward anyway. That might not have been intentional he is probably still lost in his head in the game. He does seem like a douche though I've never liked the guy, although I'm basing that entirely off of just a couple interviews I've seen. Adderall tends to make one's personality kind of off too, and dudes pupils stay looking like he just put down the meth pipe.

Like I said, I was basing that strictly off his arrogant interviews. I've never spoken to the guy, so I trust you saying he is a normal good guy. As for the adderall, I'm just speaking from personal experience as I've taken quite a lot of prescription amphetamines in the past during my late teens / early 20s for studying and such. Used to love playing video games on that shit too. I didn't know that was a stigma surrounding clawz, just saying he looks like he is on amphetamines. I personally don't give a shit whether he does or does not it doesn't affect my opinion of him at all; just saying how it can affect a person and their personality or lack there of. I'd be willing to bet many of the participants in all the tournaments there have taken prescription amphetamines at some point or another. I know for a fact many quake players have that I've spoken to over the years.

As someone pointed that out it struck me as weird, I think he was on aderall at least in this occasion. Maybe he uses it anyways and incidentally it helps with concentration when gaming?

I very much doubt it's accidental, because medical dosages don't make you look like you're dying like Tox always looks in tournaments.

There was a big scandal some time ago about some csgo player confessing they were all on adderall at tournaments. Still i've yet to see a csgo player looking so out of his mind like Tox did at quakecon against Rapha.

As far as I know, he is talking about a guy called sparks who was streaming frequently in the run-up to Quakecon one year, and he had a donation goal of $1,000 to help finance his ticket (he lived in Canada and the event is in Dallas, TX, so it seemed reasonable).

He was on a team with rapha and Dahang originally, and if I remember correctly got replaced rather suddenly before the event started, and there was some ensuing drama where one of sparks' ex-teammates leaked that in fact his ticket had already been bought months in advance of the donation goal being met, making it a somewhat fraudulent, or at least questionable action.

In the end, as far as I remember, he decided not to attend the event anyway since he didn't want to play with a weaker team after being removed from rapha/Dahang's team, further adding to the shadiness of the situation. But sparks offered to refund anybody who donated towards his ticket after this came out, so I don't think it's something we should still be hating on him for. You can probably find more information on the Quakecon coverage thread (I think it was 2014 or 2015).

Normally Id ask for sources but lets say I take everything with face value. However I noticed the seeming trend that you dont that if we add cypher and look at clawz nationality as well, we see a clear trend toward eastern europe players. The only thing it seems that make clawz in the moment less toxic that he hasn't had a decade of opportunities these guys had at the top but he is closing fast. So to nitpick a bit, way more toxic at the moment and I wouldn't be that confident that he will never catch up. For me strenx gave back enough to the community to be redeemed, and I just can't believe he is a bad guy in heart, but my up to date knowledge may be laxx.

I have only one logical refutation, he cant count and he has a memory of a goldfish.
This is a solid theory really.
They played 2v2 so on the opposing team there are 2 players if my theory is right. He shook one players hand, while the other was toxic, who is anyway an unremarkable character in quake.
Now because clawz cant count up to 2 and he is very forgetful, he somehow missed that he did not shake hands with tox who was standing right near him. As you see all of this ties neatly together.

He starts turning towards him around :02 to identify.
At :03 he recognizes Tox and he immediately turns away ("I dont wanna see/ acknowledge you"), raises the eyebrows (contempt / disgust / surprise) and licks his lips which is a sign for nervousness (gonna spare you with the source but I think you can find it in the previously linked book ) and at 05 he presses / flattens his lips together meaning disapproval / uncertainty / stress.

From what I was told, the other guy in the shot briefly was the DreamHack stage manager telling Clawz he had about 1 min to leg it to the interview booth which was a fair distance away apparently.

It looked bad at first but watching a few times I don't think he even realised the tap on the chair either happened, or it was anything other than xron moving off, sure he noticed a body standing behind him as he grabbed his drink and hoodie but then never looked up enough to see who it was at that point, people stand around watching at events like that often, and he was in a rush at that point, and the footage didn't actually go on long enough to even see if they spoke after he'd sorted out his hoodie before he raced off iirc.
