A nextgen quake game based on quake1 lore is my dream game. You were too young maybe? It was a crazy time and quake1/qw is still regarded as a MP gem. The setting has nothing to do with the multiplayer being good.

Im a 90's kid. Quake was cool, but I had a better time playing Doom 2. Eventually got a better computer, Q2 was a very immersive game for the time. Quake was too brown, not a new complain. The MP is of course awesome and has it's own style, but the SP wasn't that great. Then Q3 was fun just vs bots and then better online. It had more variety of guns and maps than QW, and felt more solid than Q2. If you want a MP that's competitive then you want an online game. FPS games with competitive communities have no SP campaigns. You want people on servers not offline.

Good points. Im a 80's kid and still think quake 1 gloomy atmosphere and all around weirdness is a gem.

Why did newer Doom fail. Same developers. Same new crap make games multiplatform for profit == consoles design
After bastardizing the Doom series, what we need (NOT) is have quake meet the same fate.

Quakelive is all we need really.
