When we'll be able to play the (on-going in development) VR goggles from Starbreeze with a decent anglee degree then it will be something. But this will come at formidable costs for end users.

And this is why the VR idea kind of died before taking off: the processing power it would require to play newer games (which would stress the PC with our normal rendering on the monitors already), by using better and better graphics will always put the VR technology at odds with the concept of improved visual quality. Just as with physx, game creators would have to chose for their new games: do we put more physx or add VR support, or use newer directx and higher resolution for our games? What sells better? The answer is plain forward.

Obviously older games and older engines would be happy to embrace the VR technology, but the newest ones, where big money goes, will always be in technological contradiction with the VR (and physx and AI, for the matter).
