i thought it got ql unlagged netcode (aka warp netcode which had a better hitregistration on 50ms than on 20ms ping)

I believe that is the case, you can still rail enemies dissapearing behind walls. :S

However this is a rocket hit-detection bug which is quite common, you hit a direct rocket and it doesn't do a single damage. This will for sure be fixed, but just annoying atm.

exactly, tbh the netcode is atrocious sometimes, it's really unbearable.............

Nopt to mention the stupid respawn system (how much time do you spawn nearby 3 enemies or see a poor soul spawning in front of you, stacked, and with 2 teammates? And other problems are there too... but oh well

That is pretty awful

But the only upside is that it is still in beta and it should be fixed by the time the game launches, Quakelive had excellant netcode.

Yeah I did, it's amazing netcode, but people think ql was so bad when it wasn't anywhere close

The netcode wasnt even finished, Arqon left halfway through so it remained as half-assed as just about every aspect of the game.

The sweet spot for ql's laghax is around 40-50ms and it turns hitboxes into large auras. Hitting 50lg and 60 rail on thin air is not a problem - check out p0ni's vods for visual demonstration.

The compensation ends at ping around 65, so playing on ping 90 feels like shit. The amount of manual prediction is the same as playing Q3 on 56k modem. Literally. In comparison - like 2 years prior to ql I used to play loads of international tournaments in cpma. Had to play on 90 ping in some cases, the game felt extremely responsive, including projectiles.

What about warpers? Because disappearing hitboxes are always a sign of a great netcode. This got abused even in high level quake a lot, so no need to get into that.

Probably the most fucked up thing is the hitreg. Half-second delay in hitting certain people while on 12 ping, rails that go through the center of the body of a standing enemy, not getting lg lock on mid/high sens.

The only time when ql's netcode is "excellant" is when compared to qc.

Pretty much any game's netcode is excellent in comparison to QC's.

On the 30 ping I would normally get to a Sydney server, even OSP would be much better and have far less WTF moments.

When you look at how far behind cover you can get killed in this against players who reportedly have less than 40 ping, it feels like there's never less 100ms difference, but often way, way more.

Quake Live has somewhat decent netcode but it's far from excellent.

QW (or ---blasphemous--- CoD4) HAS really excellent netcode, easily playable on 100-120 ping.
