Event: DHS'11

With currently about one month left until DreamHack Summer 2011 the last round of duel players have been invited to the tournament. With the two players coming from the online qualifier hosted by ZOTAC the duel list of players is now finished.

The TDM tournament is still lacking confirmation of most teams. We'd like all the teams who's going to DreamHack to send a message to either of the admins over at

DreamHack.Quake. Sending a message to me (blaze) on ESR works just as fine! We need to know your team name and team line up for seeding purposes.

Why would you think he didn't want? Afaik he had problems with his so called army ticket and that didn't let him to have foreigh passport. It seems now he has solved this problem and he's eager to go to DH, but making foreign passports takes at least 4-5 weeks, so we'll see will he make it in time or not.

M5 (agent's team) wants actually to send their whole lineup (agent, ash, dazator, k1llmaster) to DH to participate also in TDM tourney, AFAIK the only obstacle is visas, otherwise they are ready to go.
strenx said during fnatic's FFA stream that he passed all his exams and it is no more a problem.

I don't get your point, the 'big' four have been playing games for weeks and weeks, so I thought it would be fair to assume they were practicing for DH.
And of course I know that they wouldn't stand a chance against Reason, even with evil & mikes, but they would do better. It would just be great to see them play on lan together.

well imo on iem he beated spartie who almost dominated iem global but that doesnt say a lot.
fazz madix demon garpy amai agent vs those he has good chances imo but vs others might be harder but he can beat :> And i watched hes profile he plays a lot and prolly wanna strike at qcon

ZSX is awesome, but amai aint no joke. I seriously think amai will challenge for top 5 at dreamhack.

It's gonna be:

1. Rapha
2. Cypher
3. Strenx
4. Amai
5. Av3k

Cooller will suck @ new maps. Toxjq is still too rusted for qlduel. Dahang/k1llsen/spartie etc will under perform

(wildcard is stermy)

just read the rules to 1v1,and this part:

In the unlikely event of a server or a client crash the following rules apply:
- If both players have equal frag count the map is restarted and the player scores are reset.

seems to be far from fair, when for example, 1st player just get killed, and the 2nd one got map contol with too little time to comeback for 1st player. :|

dunno, i wish it wouldn't happen during `this` tense game, but still..

The real solution (besides no crashed/disconnection, ofc) is what a lot of people already said a zillion time:

Server-side demos, with the ability of restarting the match at any given point. This way, when something happen, you would just go right before the accident and continue from there.

This might never happen in QL, but I hope that e-sports games will have this feature.

This is going to be awesome if agent and Amai really go there.

Also, I hope Avekkk will do good at this tournament, he seems a bit in withdrawal at the moment. strenx said on IRC that he was planning to stop Quake because he lacked motivation. Don't know if that's true.

strenx also said that Amai was a very good player and that he'll probably succeed on the international duel scene after he played him in the Zotac #80.

we made a BYOC qualifier for the big duel tournament at dreamhack summer a year ago. Madix was the best guy in there, the rest were basically people who tried the game for the first time.
There's no reason to have a BYOC tournament if there's not people interested playing in it.

I think it costs too much to travel to dreamhack, buy a byoc seat just to play a tournament.
But we'll see, prove me wrong! :)

I remember that tournament but back then I didn't even play the game :P.
GC has shown that there is some general interest and if that tournament had been announced earlier I probably would have attended and smacked tony easy peasy :D.
There are a few things which should be done in the first place to grant success.

- early announcement, because it is easier to plan and tickets are cheaper.
- some prices like first two advance into the pro tourney.
- group stages with 6 players and the best 4 advance into a DE or something like that so that the players can play a lot of games.

I would really love to go because imo it is worth it to experience dreamhack once in your nerd life :P

I checked out toxjqs main account. The dude never shoots below 40% lg. Also, he's about 50/50 with top duelers. Assuming he has other accounts, I think he has a decent chance in the duel tourney.

online doesn't mean anything, pros practice properly. They aren't trying to win every duel flat out, they are testing strats, testing combos and traps and all sort of shit. What works, they incorporate into their game for lan to pull off epic shit on unsuspecting people. Which is why lan is the real test. And online games are shit. Nobody should care if they lose online, seriously. Anyone gloating over shit online is a bitch(unless its a online tournament with hefty prize)

I see cooller losing to a lot of scrubs, when i browse his quakelive profile. However when you go and spec him, he's barely even playing, hes doing fucking jobber shit all the time. But there is a method to his madness, as he learns and crafts his style on randoms, to pull off amazing feats on lan vs pros.

Before every LAN tournament people look at all player's online practice games and try to draw many conclusions from them. 99% of the time, those conclusions have nothing to do with how the real tourney turns out. We had multiple major LANs in QL in last few years, and every time it was tested and proven that practice games don't mean shit. So please stop doing that bullshit analysis.

recently i've spectated couple of games between Rage and 4k, and i've got a suggestion for Rage, to change zeroql with somebody else, bab for exmaple. Zeroql is a good player, but thats not his level imo, he always doing not much dmg, and dying very often.

Our very first practice tdm ever with this team. Other than us beeing pretty bad teamplaywise I must admit, spartie and madix complained the whole game about the server, because they had to play on a french server since stermy said he had about 60 in germany. ;c

Considering the players who are coming for TDM, I'm totally baffled what the hell is dem0n doing in the invited players list. There are several much better choices for that limited amount of slots.

Well, perhaps they can't really afford to invite all good players from eastern countries.

I mean, there are 4 swedes in the list and I'm not sure mAdix deserves a slot more than evil or pavel_ or any other top 5 russian player. Still, DH is a swedish thing so that may be understandable that they invite all their good players.

The thing is, if they invite people based on their skill level there might be 6-7 players from ukraine/russia/belarus in the list. Perhaps they want to have a lot of different countries involved.

There should be a competition with k1llmaster, uaReaper, dem0n, mAdix, pavel_, evil, etc. so that we can see how close they are in duel skills.
