Finally I've got a decent pc and I want to play some new/semi-new games (single player). Haven't really touched almost anything since ~2003-2004 and I haven't followed games that much overall. So what games are worth playing?

My pc isn't high-end (P4 3.2, 2 GB RAM, GF GT220 1GB DDR3) so I'm not really interested in very new games, which requires dual cores etc., but some older ones.

I'm into mainly FPP/TPP, some RTS and RPG (h&s).

Already played CoD4 (loved SP), SC2, GoW, Company of Heroes and few others. Planning to play CoD5 now, well if it runs good.

I love world war II games. Are there anything like Commandos 2? :)

Would love to play Kane&Lynch (loved 'Heat' movie) but it doesn't run and there's no solution for it. Maybe something similar?

Fallout 1 & 2 (if you haven't already that is)
Day of defeat 1.3 (cult following WW2 game kinda a mix between TFC/HL1 and COD)
Can't think of any others since I'm shite with computers and dunno what you could run :D

I wouldn't bother with CoD5, I couldn't get through the SP it was pretty dull.

Half Life 2 + Episodes have been the best SP FPS games I've played, essentials imo.
For RPGs anything by Bioware, I'd skip Mass Effect 1 and go straight for 2, but except for that just choose the universe you like the look of most (star wars/japanese mythology/sci fi/fantasy).
Oblivion and Fallout 3 are both pretty fun, the mod support adds a lot. Not sure how well they would run on your machine.

I really need a sc2 key :<.

Oblivion

This. Oblivion is an amazing game. If you like games with good storylines, sandbox gameplay and good graphics, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
(note: I've heard its predecessor 'Morrowind' is actually better, but I can't comment since I've never played it).

Also check out anything related to Half-Life 2. Fuck it, just buy The Orange Box.

Morrowind really only works for people who played it when it came out. The graphics/interface are so horrible, it's hard for a modern gamer to play it. Oblivion does everything Morrowind did, but better.

If you've already played through Oblivion a million times, and you'd like to know more of the story, Morrowind is worth trying. Mad props if you can deal with it's dated engine/interface after playing Oblivion.

I actually only played thru Oblivion once and it took me a longass time b/c I kept accepting all the side quests ("What's that? Why yes, I would like to be in the Mage's guild. This should complement by vampire thievery nicely.")
My cousin is actually the one who recommended Morrowind. He played that first, then Oblivion, and said Morrowind was better even tho it's older.

Dammit, now I want to play Oblivion again. :/

If you didn't play the expansions (Shivering Isles and Knights Of The Nine), they were REALLY good. Shivering Isles was amazing, but it almost felt like it should have been it's own game. They add another 20+ hours of gameplay, and if you add a few gigs of mods, you can squeeze out another 40+ hours.

I'm haven' really played a SP game for years now so I can't be sure, but old idtech3 (defrag = $) or similar engine games look better than basically any new game, for me. Along with the 125fps/120hz mania this is probably due to playing quake 3 for so long, heh.

I would just download a high resolution N64 emulator and retextured roms and go nuts ! Much better than the crap that is churned out on PC these days..

I enjoy UFO Extraterrestrials a lot. Much like the very first UFO: Enemy Unknown but improves quite a few things.

From what I heard you should only play it with Bman's mod, though. So, that's what I did. It even lets you enable enable the old XCOM enemies. And has an archvile (the doom 2 thing) as a random "boss" monster. Half my team died on the first encounter :P

bioshock - if you havent played it, do so now
call of juarez+CoJ bound in blood - i really enjoyed the western setting and the graphics aren't too bad either
