The players all complained endlessly about how much they disliked it, only vo0 had the balls to say he enjoyed the game. Beyond the pros the scene was tiny and died as soon as it could. You're only talking with nostalgia.
Yeah thanks. I'll quote your statement.
Cause there is this one guy who claims he has a game completely figured out but also says he dislikes it a lot and criticizes it all the time.
Thanks to you, it is now clear that he just sucks at the game.
I think you might actually know him, he's American, too. Even lives in Texas.
But he doubt you'd get along at all.
Him saying a game sucks but that he has it figured out, you saying that everyone who says a game sucks is bad at it.
But don't tell me you evaluated every player who said he didn't like that game. If he was "elite" enough for liking it.
Sounds much more like you generalized a bit.
But yeah, I should have asked a few more question to make my case water-proof. Like: "Who were those people the said they disliked the game."
I still think it's quite funny that you would make that statement, when others have made the very same statement about you and your dislike of quakelive.
I still think it's quite funny that you would make that statement, when others have made the very same statement about you and your dislike of quakelive.
I still think it's funny, that you try to simplify everything with short statement and often end up getting it wrong or contradicting yourself.
In the end, the only common denominator you seem to have for everything is your own opinion:
You like painkiller, others dislike it:
They are bad at the game, it's too elite for them.
You dislike Qaukelive, other players, that are better than you, like it:
The game is still bad.
But hey, if I was wrong you must know all the players who said they disliked painkiller and know how good they were at playing it. Care to share that information?
I wrote those paragraphs to disconnect the different examples. If you think layout has something to do with raging I can recommend a frragerr post.
Meanwhile:
if I was wrong you must know all the players who said they disliked painkiller and know how good they were at playing it. Care to share that information?
Of course we aren't on the same level. I actually answer questions.
10 (+3) posts, btw. looks like you had no reason not to answer other than being unable to.
But I see you dilemma:
You can't answer. You can't admit that you can't and you feel the need to have the last reply. That must sucks :(
But I'll be gracious, since you don't deliver anything of worth anyway, I'll let you have the last reply.
Oh and for the record, because you will probably try to get back to this statement, eventually:
There is a certain group of people who said that painkiller sucks. You said they were all bad at it.
Therefore, you did say that all the people who said that a game (in this case painkiller) sucks are bad at it.
Yes, you did. Since I know you have trouble with reading your own posts objectively, let me help you:
ix said: "The players all complained [...]"
You said: "They disliked it because they were bad, though."
Now, let's break it down for you:
1. "They disliked it" refers to "the players" ix mentioned. This includes everyone who said the game sucks*
2. "because they were bad" states that everyone in the group mentioned above is bad.
3. Painkiller is obviously "a game".
Combining that, you did say they are bad (2.) about everyone (1.) who disliked a game (here: painkiller). (3.)
*disliking is not as strong as thinking something sucks which is why I wrote "no, not directly". But you really don't seem to understand that
From a spectators pov it was awesome. You could see how the way the game evolved and changed from match to match, unlike today where it's mostly about executing the same ol same ol perfectly. Dunno if it could have gone on much longer than it did, but it certainly was enjoyable while it lasted.
Which is all pretty meaningless when you consider if they'd used Q3 for the tour we could have had ZeRo4, czm, Cooller, toxic, fox, LeXeR, Fata1lty and more competing against each other for most of the stops.
Unsurprisingly you can't really "execute" over and over when you're being telefragged four times in one game or killed by the starting weapon of a freshly spawned player with a lucky shot. But wait... that's a good thing now apparently.
Why the fuck would you want to see the game "evolving" in front of your eyes? That was basically a result of using a bad game and nobody knowing how to play it well beyond one or two players, so everyone else was playing catchup every step of the way. Nevermind the nonexistent practice possibilities for certain players.
Would you rather see football evolving in each match too as they start out every man for himself in a mob of 50 people running through the streets kicking a pig's bladder and then after a few thousand matches maybe you get to the very basic beginnings of actual competition where people even vaguely know what they're doing?
Yeah, I can see why you/d want that opposed to watching elite players who know a solid competitive game very well competing at their very peak.
What a mediocre imagination. Someone sticky this post so it can be referred to anytime syl attempts to ever argue with anyone ever again. It's useful to know when you're arguing with someone over how good Godfather II is that they happen to think Ice Age 3 was a masterpiece of modern cinema.
I have no idea why I would remember this, but they told me something like "hey, there's a Christian Lains here who's smaller than his monitor, can you give him a hand?". I think I had to help you carrying your stuff from the entrance to the BYOC area.
I hated that event so much. Tons of problems, idiot CS players delaying the schedule and making too much noise (NiP had just started the trend of screaming and shouting after every round) and I slept about two hours during the whole weekend, staying awake by drinking Burn, which made me unable to sleep on Sunday. Then I got drunk, lost my train and spent the night at an apartment I was supposed to leave the day before.
And yeah, the guys who organised it have really good taste when it comes to DJs, they always bring a couple of them to their events.
yeah, kind of. was great fun watching high profile matches. pk was really action-packed. and somehow I liked it much more than cpm (from a spec pov) because it was very fast but didn't feel so 'artificial'.
but watching ql/q3 has it's benefits as well. tho I miss the slower/tactical pace Q3 had.
I didn't play Painkiller much, although I found it fun in 1v1 despite the retarded stuff some people already pointed out.
As a spectator I enjoyed Painkiller and the World Tour format a lot. I still remember those finals and those Fatal1ty vs ¿Ztrider? matches that were always ridiculously close.
Is there any repository with VODs from the WT or does anyone keep the videos with the commentary?
