K I've been getting alot of queries on IRC and shit so I'll just confirm it: that is me, get over it, so I'm fat, it doesn't mean anything, make all the jokes you want, I'm cool with it. Tom found them, I (stupidly I guess) gave him a link to my brother's myspace page and those are pics from a family party we had.

And yeah me and Tom are still friends, it's just some friendly joking, everybody calm down :).

Liam so fat when I imported his picture into photshop it asked how many hard drives I want to use as a scratch disk.

Liam so fat if he was a game model and stood at Red Armour on pro-dm6 his stomach would clip through wall by the Super Shot Gun.

Liam so fat when he spanws into a level he collects all the powersups at the same time and "invades his opponents personal space" winning every game without losing a frag.

Liam so fat he inspired John carmack's Megatexture technology.

Liam so fat when he runs towards the teleporter on tourney 2, the teleporter jumps into the void.

I got nothing against fatties or people with things they can't help, but you need tough lovebro or you heading for wipeout!

Me once was 300, two years later I feel fine with my body. Even experienced real love, which most people on this board will never.

If you want to shape yourself, start now! Because when you are older your skin won't heal itself as well.

This was a joke btw but I just thought I'd share something with you all, the best part about this whole thing is because people believed it so strongly they all pitied me and as a result pretty much the only person making fat jokes was tom, and he's been away in scotland sliding down frozen hills or something.

Special mention goes to funnyb for this quote:
<funnyb> nekon will believe anything that puts him as only the second most fat cpm-player

Thanks everybody for being so ready to believe this was me that you missed the obvious signs that this is an American, most notably how fat/short he is.

HE LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING GARDEN GNOME.

If for some reason you doubt me, just ask any lobstar, they will then tell you how it isn't me, definitely. They won't, for example, deny it and say something along the lines of "dunno what you're talking about m8" because they would never do that to me.

Like anyone believes you... not only fat, but a liar as well...

Since the majority is always right, we need a poll to find out whether you're fat or not. e.g.:
"Is Liam fat?
a) Yes
b) Most likely
c) There's no other option, because this poll is made by Putin"

The vegetarian part, maybe, because theres no reason why just not eating meat would make for a weight loss diet. I mean you could eat white bread, candy bars and drink soda all day and be vegetarian.
Second part, most people probably don't like to hear it, but it is true alcohol has no role in the diet of someone trying to improve body composition. It's purely detrimental for that pursuit since it's nutritionless calories that have to be metabolized before stored fat can be used.

Vegetarian != vegan

The three best sources of protein are Whey, Egg and Casein all of which aren't from animal flesh. Soy is a complete source of protein from a plant source although its lower quality. (meaning more grams needs to be consumed compared to something good like egg)

Vegan diets aren't loaded in sugar vegetables and fruit are the healthiest foods you can eat. The sugar in most fruits does not cause a blood sugar spike the way sugar in soda, processed foods and crap food does. Fruit is natural.

I personally am not vegan because it entails pretty specific nutrition and would limit me to poorer sources of protein. However unless you're an athlete of some sort the protein needs of most people are going to be easily met from a vegan diet if they just eat a balanced meals with a variety of foods.

I don't really like to have to defend vegetarianism because it is nonsense to be questioned about the nutrition gains and health gains associated with it. There is no risk to vegetarianism, infact it is the safer diet to follow if you're concerned about colon cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, life expectancy ect.

I've been vegetarian 2.5 years: http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/Ant1gen/

Has not limited my progress at lifting weights at all, even without taking supplements. Last august I weighted 12 pounds less and my body fat was atleast 2% higher.

"The three best sources.."

everyone is different and there is no best, considering you need to consume a wide range of foods in order avoid nutritional deficiencies.

"Soy is a complete source of protein from a plant source although its lower quality."

non-fermented soy is one of the most harmful "foods" that you can put in your body, considering the massive of amounts of phytic acid and trypsin inhibitors it contains.

"Vegan diets aren't loaded in sugar vegetables and fruit are the healthiest foods you can eat."

wtf do you think a fruit is? and again with misinformed assumption that you can eat one kind of food and be healthy.

"the sugar in most fruits does not cause a blood sugar spike the way sugar in soda, processed foods and crap food does. Fruit is natural."

non-organic fruits(which is the vast majority of fruit that people consume) aren't natural. high-carb low-protein diets work only for a small percentage of people on the entire planet. these are people that are descendants of certain tropical tribes. if your skin is naturally pale, then your ancestors(from ~10k years ago) ate a lot of meat and this is the kind of diet your body is adapted for.

"However unless you're an athlete of some sort the protein needs of most people are going to be easily met from a vegan diet if they just eat a balanced meals with a variety of foods."

these non-athletic people will end up unhealthy if they don't eat according to their metabolic type.

"I don't really like to have to defend vegetarianism because it is nonsense to be questioned about the nutrition gains and health gains associated with it."

wheres your evidence supporting this claim? you're no different than those religious nuts who think it's nonsensical for people to question their beliefs.

"There is no risk to vegetarianism, infact it is the safer diet to follow if you're concerned about colon cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, life expectancy ect."

america has been told to have a high-carb, low-protein, fatless diet for 40 years and look what happened.

"I've been vegetarian 2.5 years: http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/Ant1gen/

Has not limited my progress at lifting weights at all, even without taking supplements. Last august I weighted 12 pounds less and my body fat was atleast 2% higher."

Here is the fact:
Properly planned vegetarian diets have been found to satisfy the nutritional needs for all stages of life, and large-scale studies have shown vegetarianism to increase longevity, improve health, and significantly lower risks of cancer and other diseases.[4][5]

So Lo click that and educate yourself. It'll make you feel better and maybe you'll get flamed a little less on internet forums.

I clicked that and the two citation in the wikipedia article. And you know what? I'm not impressed.

The meat gives lung cancer thing clearly states that "lots of meat" so no well weighed diet.

And the article from the American Dietetic Association only states two things:
1) If a vegatarian plans his diet well, he can cover his bodies needs.
2) Vegatarians diets offer an improvement over the average non-vegetarian American. And I think it's no secret that the average American's diet is healthy.

Thus the articles only allow one solid conclusion: A planned diet, including vegetarian diets, is better than an unplanned one.

Everything else is speculation and not covered by the citations.

Correct, and that is why I more just tried to tell Lo this sort of diet isn't harmful like he was claiming. I would never advocate a vegetarian diet on health reasons alone, because small amounts of clean lean meat can be and are a part of a balanced healthy diet.

The deciding reason for me is the huge negative environmental impact that factory farmed animals have. Methane is a much stronger greenhouse gas than CO2. The greatest contribution to methane emissions by far is from animal agriculture. That source of greenhouse gasses can be reduced if people more people eat less meat or become vegetarian.

And that is simply not founded on any conclusive evidence. And that's why I disagreed.

Versus a typical American diet the bolded is true. And of the people who usually give me criticism or pointless questioning here in the states, that is the diet they follow. In other words folks who say "how are you getting your protein?" and yet they don't know how much protein they or I need and can only list one source of it, meat. Or they are completely ignorant to the difference between veganism and vegetarianism.

I should stand corrected though that diets containing some meat can be as healthy as well planned vegetarian ones or better. Fish for example if it is not high in mercury is supposedly quite healthy. I exclude fish because I never really liked it before I went vegetarian. But the benefits that fish offers can be met from flax seed and protein from legumes or egg whites, with less risk of mercury contamination.

The correction should be less meat and then only meat that is lean is what is in order when trying to eat healthier. There's no evidence of risk from vegetarian diets if well planned and they're appropriate for a wide range of people. So if someone already eating healthy wants to take a step to reduce his environmental footprint then switching to vegetarianism shouldn't have any ill-effects on his nutrition and will reduce the amount of water/land/fossil fuels required to make the food he eats. I haven't seen any studies comparing long term health differences between well planned low meat diets and well planned vegetarian ones.

Although they both can include some of the healthiest diets for humans, the results would be interesting. And by low meat I mean a few times a week but not quite everyday.

I would hate to see anyone interpret what I said above as a suggestion that maybe eating lots of meat, especially greasy or fatty kinds, every single day isn't going to raise their risks for several diseases. It's something that in the right amounts can have a place in some people's diets. For me it's easier to exclude it all together. Since the healthiest level of meat consumption is closer to no meat than the typical amount of meat consumption in the US.* And ecological concerns makes up the rest of my reason to exclude the meat.

It was a bad idea on my part to just throw out "vegetarianism" as a suggestion for weight loss when the picture is a little more complex than that.

Balanced nutrition and a restricted caloric intake along with exercise, especially with free weights (because muscle is metabolically active) and a more active lifestyle will help someone lose bodyfat.

*If that statement there were not true then you wouldn't find this.

well, maybe I'll take that back in the morning cause I am a bit drunk, but i don't think so.

As for fish I once read an article about Okinawa and how they have the oldest people and I think their diet included quite some of fish.

But what I personally found more important in that article is that the people still worked a little and "were usefull" even when they were ninety. Rotting in some reitrement home watching the grass groow probably is way worse, no matter what you eat.

Not enough land for any diet when you've got 6 bil. people here. Some land suits itself for grazing only, let the people who really want to eat meat eat that meat. The way it is now is vast swaths of land get used to grow grains which we turn around and feed to animals. This is inefficient since the land could be used to directly grow food for humans if people ate less meat and animal products.

I decide to place the cut off at animal kingdom. Plants are totally awesome although when deciding if they they feel pain it's much less obvious than with another mammal or a bird. As far as ethics of pain go, it should be more important to prevent suffering you can understand versus suffering which is totally alien as it's from a different form of life.
Just by existing you will cause harm and suffering to things in your environment. The pain argument of vegans is not particularly strong for me because of that.

Lets pretend for a second plants did feel "pain" every bit as excruciating, maybe even worse than animals did. Eating a vegetarian diet would still cause less net suffering than an omnivorous diet. Because no matter how little pain cows and chickens feel relative to plants. They need to eat food too and they'll consume more plants than we would consuming plants directly. There still is harm involved, but the total harm is still lower. So "pain" of plants does not take much away.

Same with the earthworms and parasite bit, there's death involved in making vegetables or grains. But consider there's even more death involved when those plants are fed to animals and the animals are killed.

Carnivores have instincts to kill. Put a young cat by an apple and a small duck. The cat may likely kill the duck and play with the apple. Put a young child with the two and the kid will most likely eat the apple and play the the duck. We're omnivores (although some of our traits are closer to that of plant eaters) cats are carnivores.

After 4:20 this guy diverges into nonsense. I eat probably somewhere between 120-160g of protein a day which is more protein than the average american. I admit it would become very difficult to do that if I couldn't eat diary products or milk. But people still often over estimate the amount of protein they really need. Vegetarian diets are not carbohydrate only diets. They don't have deficiencies in any of the nutrients he mentioned because vegetarians can get these things from diary and egg sources.

Vegans cannot get vitamin B12 from any food sources because it is only found in animal products. They get it from fortified cereals and soy products. But he is talking about vegetarians so he's ignorant of the difference like most of everyone.

"We're omnivores (although some of our traits are closer to that of plant eaters).."

show me one tribe of homo sapien that existed 10k years ago or more that didn't eat meat/fish.

"After 4:20 this guy diverges into nonsense."

pretty much all the questions he has for the vegetarian viewers are after 4:20. way to avoid them.

Asking me how do I get my protein and saying that if I'm a "protein type" that my vegetarian diet gives me only carbohydrates and that I am going to get sick is nonsense. I've never even heard of metabolic types before and I think if were something meaningful I would have learned about them by now.

I believe what I mentioned else where about fossil fuel use and methane emissions was a pro vegetarian argument. There aren't many "pro veg" arguments to make because strictly saying all it is removing one type of food from your diet. If you want the provegetarian health arguments look to the health benefits of eatting lots of vegetables and fruits and also from eatting less meat. Although that can be done without being a "vegetarian".

For some reason though you personally think meat is needed for your survival and it's not. If Bill Pearl, a two time Mr. universe winner could not only meet his essential needs but far exceed them inorder to build a lean and muscled physique eatting an ovo-lacto-vegetarian diet, I'm pretty certain it's more than adequate for your forum trolling needs Lo.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbinfo.php?page=Alcohol

The consensus is fairly clear it's detrimental for the gain muscle, lose fat croud. Some problems being:

-Calories without nutrients.
-Alcohol has 7 Calories per gram plus what else comes from the drink so it can add up quickly.
-Alcohol is metabolized in the body first, preventing or postponing fat loss.
-Dehydrates muscle tissue.
-Lowers testosterone levels
-Above two result in slower protein synthesis (muscle repair/recovery/growth)
-Potential to break far from ones usual diet while inebriated.

But I'm not rigid about it, I understand its downsides and just plan to use it sparingly. Drinking 1-2 drinks max then only water.

Liam, who cares if your fat, its the internet, plenty of space, stop eating mcdonalds if your so worried. and ye, it is you, bet you said to yourself; "i post my pic, then if I get too much negative feedback I'll just say its a joke"... Liam, being that fat is no joke, you need help, but instead of wasting mcdonalds money on getting help, move to america and you'll fit in fine and as a bonus, the US dollar is so low you could buy your own mcdonalds restaurant.

if he don't have some special hormonal problems he could loose a lot of weight by gradually eating less and less doesn't matter if he is a vegetarian or not; usually fat people have SOME hormonal problems in the sense that their body do retain a little more fat than ordinary people do, but this is not an obstacle in loosing weight, it is just making lazy and without determination people have an excuse
to give you an extreme example, how many fat people have you seen at Auschwitz in WWII (I'm talking about the jews, not the germans, but you got the idea)
he could also go for running, let's say 10-15 km/daily, I know he won't be able to run that much in the beginning, but in a few months he'll do it
or he could just lay his fat lazy ass on the chair and play WOW further

when u starve urself ur body begins to store fat and water. thats why people who try low calorie diets end up heavier then they were before they began the diet.

there is a trick here, too
if you drastically reduce your food, the self defending mechanism will force body retain fat, but if you slowly reduce your food it won't happen
my personal belief is the fat guys which tried diets did just tried it for a few weeks or maybe months, thinking about food all day, and at some point they just surrender and start eating a lot or even more
if you are sure reducing your food won't help, you have a better explanation for Auschwitz then ?

o, i thought u were talking about their bloated stomachs because you didn't mention anything about skinniness in ur previous post. if you think risking your life in order to lose weight is a good idea, then go right ahead and tell people that. a lot of these people lost almost all of their muscle tissue and got ulcers and many other problems as a result of being starved. when they were saved they had to eat very small diets because their stomachs shrunk and if they ate a normal sized diet they'd die. im sry i didn't read ur comment correctly but wtf ur not very good at articulating ur point so i was like wtf is he talking about.

ah, ok then
the reason they got those health problems is they didn't stop eating gradually; if your weight is for example 130 and you wanna go down to 90 (kilos), you must slowly descrese the quantity of your food, it might take months or even years, you have to decrease food quantity in such manner so you don't weaken your body
I'd recommend them some minimum jogging or some aerob sport too, in order to keep their immunity high, while very slow decreasing the food quantity; it is a hard process which needs a lot of determination, and a lot of time, that's why most people don't succeed in it

a lot of that weight that is going to be lost will be muscle and when you lose muscle your metabolism lowers and your body burns less calories, which is undesirable. you don't need to do any cardio-specific training to reduce your body fat %, you could easily do it with weight training. eating less is not a good idea man.

I hardly find you getting rid of 35 kg pure fat whatever you do if you will continue consuming 10 kgs of food every day -you have to consider that most of these guys eat A LOT (unless you go on steroids so you will get muscles by doing this, but steroids are not healthy)

seriously, there are a lot of obese people in my family.(america etc) they try to like eat a couple packs of 100 calorie oreos and maybe some noodles for dinner or some shit and they just get more obese. they go for walks every day, too.

imo they should not go for diets (special food), because diets increase their appetite, they should just decrease the quantity of their regular food, and there is the time factor which they have to consider, which I mentioned it a few times by now, but I doubt they do that
the "couple packs of 100 calorie oreos" might be some very periodic attempt anyway

"imo they should not go for diets (special food), because diets increase their appetite, they should just decrease the quantity of their regular food"

there are serious problems with this.

1. you need to be sure that they're obese because of the excess quantity of the food they're eating, not because of the quality/selection of food.
2. which food you eat really impacts your health. eating x amount of calories of a certain selection of food will effect your body much differently than eating x amount of calories of a completely different selection of food.

you have a very american understanding of nutrition and i don't think you should be giving nutritional advice. =[

even in primary classes if you are gonna pick up a manual and read, it is written there that first cause of obesity is too much food
just because I won't start talking now about EVERYTHING on nutrition it doesn't mean I know nothing about nutrition and what fat people should do to loose weight; if you wanna do it by the book it is recommended first you should make blood samples because depending what is your blood (A3, AB4, etc) you body have some specific tolerances to food, but I won't get into all details here; the main idea is they gotta eat less; I have to remind you that I was pointing in my very first post on this subject that most fat people don't have big hormonal problems, and usual food don't affect fat as you'd think, I can show you a lot of people which consume a lot of carbohydrates and they are not fat, so don't come to me with exceptions please, ok ?; the fact that USA people eat McDonalds and other look-a-like food which deliberately make you fat, by putting all kind of synthetic stuff in it to make it tasty, is a very big problem for you, of course, but it's an exception, regarding the wide category of food you may choose, so I don't feel necessarily to point more in that direction, I consider deciding to abandon the synthetic food is common sense;
I have a vey american understanding of nutrition, how's that ?I helped a friend on this manner, he went down from 110 kgs to 90, does this mean americans are no fat anymore ?and we did realize that (me and the fat guy) by going into aerobic activities (like boxing, and running) and by decreasing the quantity of his food;
I've seen over the years a lot of people trying to loose fat but all of them which does not succeed seems to have something in common: they all do give up and start eating again, with bigger appetite, and they try to avoid as much as possible any physical effort to achieve the loss of weight

"even in primary classes if you are gonna pick up a manual and read, it is written there that first cause of obesity is too much food"

main causes are excess sugar, preservatives, synthetic chemicals(aspartame etc) and malnutrition. i really would like to see this "manual".

i think i need to speak a little more about malnutrition. if you eat a meal of nutritionless food(the vast majority of processed food), then you're body will still be starving for what it needs(vitamins/minerals/etc), after you digest that food. eating worthless food leads to overeating and weight gain because you're body stores fat when it thinks it's starving.
