This evening are starting the matches from the Playday 3 of the IEM5 European Championship. Our dear

Joe from ESL TV will be casting 2 of them during the IEM Quake Live Double Header, starting at 16:00 CDT. The matches picked are

GaRpY vs

av3k and

draven vs

GoHLinK. By the way, if you like Joe and Quakelive, make sure you'll be watching Eurosport 2 tomorrow evening!

There will be

strenx vs

plaZmaa at 14:15 CDT. Then a late match opposing

reload to

fire_bot starting at 14:30 CDT. At 15:30 CDT, just before

GUard vs

zsx, we will have another late match with

Spart1e and

spartaz0rd. We encourage streamers who are interested to contact us for these games, and the later ones!

Finally a sad news, as another Swedish player asked to be removed from the tournament.

Daniel "a1r-r41d" Götell left us and, unfortunately, it's now too late to replace him.

Wednesday will see the first games of the 2nd Playday in the IEM5 European Championship. As usual, ESL TV will be covering 2 matches on the evening, starting at 16:00 CDT:

winz vs

k1llsen and

madix vs

dem0n. Note that a few matches from Playday 1 still remains to be played.

Also, the

Cypher Marathon will take place in the early evening as the Belarus player will play 3 of his matches on a proper internet connection from

Kiev. From 12:30 CDT, he will play against madix, dem0n and

serak. We encourage streamers who are interested to contact us!

Last but not least, the top2 players from the Last³ Qualifier have been added to the roster:

Robert "tox1c" Kopczynski will replace fox in group F and

Viaceslavas "fire_bot" Duk will take DAXIO's slot in group C.

Due to the late withdrawal of

fox from the IEM5 European Championship, a new cup will be run in order to find a replacement to the Swedish player. Code name of this cup: Quake Live Last Last Last Chance Qualifier. Coming from the previous "Last qualifier", 6 players will meet in a Double Brackets on Sunday 31st, starting at 12:00 CDT. The top2 of the cup will be granted the last slots in Groups C & F.

Update: As it the age limit for the IEM is 16 years old and it was just found that the Polish player DAXIO is 14 years old, a 2nd slot will be granted during this last qualifier to replace him!

The first matches of the IEM5 Quakelive European Championship are starting this week. All the matches are default scheduled to Wednesday after 15:00 CDT, and one of them will be picked up by ESL TV. All the games are played as bo3 and the maplist is as following: Aerowalk, Blood Run, Dismemberment, Furious Heights, Hektik, Lost World, Vertical Vengeance.

Also, as

Balk won't be able to participate in the tournament anymore,

Kenneth "plaZmaa" Aulie is taking his place in Group B (Announcement)!

The EPS-Player

Philipp "reload" Kotecki participated as one of the underdogs in the last chance qualifier for the European Mainround of the 5th Intel Extreme Masters season. During that tournament he had to play against a few of the top players, like another EPS-Player

Sebastian "abso" Wanek or

Alessandro "stermy" Avallone. stermy was his opponent in the semi-final and reload managed to put up a decent fight against the italian powerhouse. He also had to face the Dignitas player

Dan "zsx" Sanders.

The groups of the IEM5 European Championship have just been announced today! For Quakelive, 30 players were split in to 6 groups of 5. All matches will be played as bo3, and each victory will be rewarded with a bonus of $50. After this group stage, the 12 best players will be qualified for the European Championship Finals and get another bonus of $150.

The default date for the Quakelive matches is Wednesday 15:00 CDT and ESL TV should cover the best match of each week on this time.

Update: Since Cny will remain banned from Quakelive, it was decided to remove him from the tournament. His slot will be handed to the winner of a match between the 2 players who finished at 4th rank during the last chance qualifiers:

The management of the IEM5 European Championship has decided to add an additional 6 slots to the European Championship group stage. This means that the groups will now have 5 players each rather than 4. The reason for this is to allow those players who had missed their national qualifiers for various reasons to have another chance to qualify. The Last Chance Qualifier 2 is taking place Sunday, October 17th at 10:00 CDT (Sign up).

The additional 6 slots will be awarded in 2 separate cups held in mid-October. The top 3 players of each cup will advance directly to the group stage. It is allowed to sign up for both cups.

All the matches for the 2nd qualifier round for the IEM5 European Championship QL are now known! The QR2 default date is set for Wednesday 6th of October at 15:00 CDT. The winners will join the qualified players for the Main round, while the losers will still be able to attend the 2 last qualifier cups
