This "acceleration of skill" in a small timeframe argument is quite silly as well. Sure, people will improve a lot after massing games in a new game (especially in a new genre in 2015), doesn't mean that the improvement will continue for years like it did with Quake or SCBW.
Probably not, since the "meta" won't change enough to keep players interested for long.
