Went shopping last night after work to buy some clothes & a coat.

I spent �0 and didn't find one thing I liked (next, gap, river island suck).

Basically I need a winter coat plus some cheap hoodies etc. I don't really give a shit about designer stuff so not looking for anything expensive.

Anybody got an idea of where to buy online?

spent most of my budget at Asos. I should of really gone there first before posting :)

4 x huddies (different styles) and 1 padded jacket. = �160, not bad i guess.

Most likely will send some of it back, so keep giving me sites :)

Received Asos order today, everything was shit ugly apart from a �20 pair of jeans I added at the last minute.. sending �140 worth of stuff back for a refund.

Got a spam email from Play.com, they were doing 20% off all clothing ( with CLOTHING0511 tag) so decided to have a look.

Found a nice coat for �59.99 that was reduced from �159.99!!! also a nice huddy! Total win, lets just hope I don't need to send them back as well.

Go to Macy's online and go through the DC shoes hoodies. They've got pretty good coats and jackets as well. Also, you'll find some good jackets by Fossil on either Fossil's website or Macy's online store.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from H&M once or twice. In total it was two pairs of trousers, a shirt, some t-shirts, and a sweater. Except for the trousers, the clothes looked like shit after only two-three months of using them. And I consider myself a guy who takes care of his clothes. I don't spend hours washing and ironing them carefully, but I also don't just throw everything in the washing machine and turn on a random washing programme with high temperature. Bought my ex a coat there last fall and it's still fine even today, though.

So, you've got to look out for the low-quality stuff at H&M. The more expensive parts of wardrobe seem fine, though.

You mean Cropp Town, Reserved, or House? Reserved is just a clone of H&M when it comes to durability (it's maybe even worse but not much) and style. House is totally not my style, far too skateboardy. Cropp has some awesome and sometimes funny t-shirts, I like going there from time to time just to see if there's anything new there.

I was talking mostly about Reserved, I find their design much better than H&M's (at least when it comes to menswear). In most cases quality satisfied me and price/quality ratio was decent too, although I gotta admit some of their collections contain many low-quality products :P

avoid hoodies, republic, henleys, superdry etc. unless you want to look like a chav, or an embarasing unkle trying to look like a teenager, tkmax is ok, but you have to spend so much time there filtering out the crap

so on a budget....
primark for stupidly cheap stuff like socks, pants, random tops
asos for just about everything - best online shop
h&m is ok for cheap trendy clothing, although it is cheap and won't last
then if you've spent the majority of you budget on cheap retail stuff, you may be able to afford one or two nice items from decent designer shops like all-saints, jack wills,pauls smith etc. house of fraiser is good for jeans and formal clothing, next is good for budget suits

for decent brands go shopping somewhere good (not retail heavy shitholes like Milton keynes), wherevers nearest to you.. cambridge/nottingham/covent garden/carnaby st

If you really want the expensive high end designer stuff, try visiting Bicester village, you can get hundreds of pounds off the normal prices you get otherwise

See in my line of work I know I'll be in a position secure enough to mostly wear what I want as would be expected by most graduates in my field. Obviously some occasions do call for formal dress, going to work everyday is not one of those things yet for some reason the business world tries to demand it, probably from an overbearing sense of inferiority.

I think we could be looking at different cultures, here in Western Europe it is common practice to wear what is most comfortable especially with young people (and by young I refer to <25). You aren't going to be singled out for turning up places in a hoodie and sneakers but the dude who suits up for the most mundane of occasions? Probably.

If you feel a need to berate young people for wearing comfortable clothes then you really should grow up.

Most of my friends work as various specialists in banks/audit firms, trust me, if you go to work one morning there in a hoodie and sneakers, you're going to get a "talk". (Though, they don't wear sportswear for no reason on their free time either.)

Like I said, if you're still a teenager, it's probably acceptable. Once you finish university and start a real job, you might want to start paying attention to what you wear. You will probably change your mind about how to appropriately dress in 5 years too.

asos sells a mixture of quality and tat, it's changed a lot in the last 3 years thoguh and has improved somewhat
highstreet wise, uniqlo & american apparel are great for basics (t-shirts, jumpers etc.)
oi polloi is probably my favourite online shop, have some great quality. the actual store in manchester too is top class- really recommend you go there if you're unsure on sizing or whatever
h&m are also ok for basics (again)
other than that, try places like:
www.cultizm.com (mainly for denim, and american but cheap shipping prices and top quality)
www.albamclothing.com (majority of it made in england, using great quality fabrics and at fair prices)
www.norsestore.com (good mix and match of street brands and denim labels)

Generally speaking you only get the quality if you pay the cash.
Having said that when I was 5 I would be happy with my Taz t-shirt from M&S for a fiver, so whatever makes you feel comfortable :D)

I recommend going to Manchester also, but you must wear a "Malcolm Glazer - Legend" T-shirt otherwise you will probably get beat up.

ASOS do have some pretty decent stuff. Although I wouldn't buy anything from Topman unless you're skint, because although the stuff might look decent and they're cheap and that, but the quality is piss poor. I quite like Republic though. :o

I know that its alot cheaper to buy clothes in the UK than it is on Mainland Europe, for example a normal basic addidas or nike hoodie would be the equivilent to 30 or 40 euro's in the UK but in Europe the same item's are upto 100 euro's and over well over double the price and thats just one example. The thing is alot of people from europe come over and buy clothes from the UK but they goto London of all places thats the most exspensive, shop around abit and go outside the capitol and away from the tourist area's, t their just out to rip you off. =/ anyway it doesnt really matter cuz after 2012 we'll all be wearing sack cloth again :p

I buy lots from asos. They deliver fast and cheap to Germany and I always find their selection to be top notch!

Ye, I've just found their own brand stuff rather cheap and crappy.

If I could afford the better stuff I'm sure I would be a happy customer :)
