disable vsync

thanks, that already helped alot and were at about 100fps atm
now i dont understand the read/write permissions in the ql folder.
it seems like some cvars are not being saved correctly, but even if i give write permissions to the folder, its being changed back automatically means, next time i "property" the ql folder write protection is set again

for example s_musicvolume is never being saved correctly

any ideas?

create a file named "autoexec.cfg" in the same folder of qzconfig.cfg
-on xp: %appdata%\id Software\quakelive\home\baseq3
-on vista: %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\id Software\quakelive\home\baseq3\

and put inside autoexec the following line:

seta s_musicvolume "0"

just like in q3 you say.
then r_vertexlight should also be working properly

didnt work musicvolume is still being resetted to default value

sure you didn't start q4 by accident?

but quake4 was patched to be able to go over 60.

well for those of us who stopped playing q4 when we realised it was buggy as shit, we would never know!

q4 doesnt have so much higher system requirements. His system is good enough for q4 5v5 ctf action @125fps for sure. Thank you AnthonyJ

Yeah, this was a hog for my laptop, now it's stable at 125 :)

i just installed ql on my elder dual core 1 gig ram onboard graphics laptop and it really helped a lot!

Check your plugins in firefox - tools/addons/plugins i heard some of those cause problems :)

You could try using the prism plugin for firefox; it just opens a skeleton form of firefox and might use up less resources, it that's the problem (although your computer should be easily powerful enough for QL).

Also, make sure not to install the independent version of prism, as QL won't run on that.

Also, maybe lowering the resolution might help; could try 800*600 (r_mode 3) or w/e aspect ration the monitor is. I doubt this would make any difference though.

The one other thing can think of might be driver settings, something like AA or some fancy post processing effect might be on in the drivers. For example, if I turn on all the rubbish effects/settings in my ATI driver, I only get 40fps and I have an ATI 4870X2 in a decent quad core computer.
