The fact is the two goals had nothing to do with Song/Arshavin/Nasri not playing! Eboué isn't disciplined enough in defence and marking and gave Malouda just enough space to control the ball and Fabianski was very unlucky. Silvestre has no pace and Fabianski made a wrong call.

He thought he'd let the game play out and he'd be able to bring on the fresh Arshavin/Bendtner/Nasri when/if required. Sadly RVP and Adebayor got injured and then Drogba scored from a long ball.

Adebayor, RVP and Diaby were terrible and Fabregas was pretty bad too (He was tonight as well).

Also, 3rd place is more important than an FA Cup final.

You'd rather get 3rd place than the cup just to avoid the playoff?

There's more money in finishing 3rd and avoiding the CL playoff than the FA Cup final/FA Cup win.

Given the financial climate and the club debt, priorities need to go towards making sure Arsenal remain a stable CL finishing team.

If we'd beaten Chelsea but lost tonight Villa/Everton would be back in it. We've still got to play Chelsea/Man Utd in the league if we'd lost all three 5th place would be a real possibility.

That's logical, I don't know much about the finance. But I still think he should've given most all to try and win the cup. Villa aren't exactly blooming. That + some luck in the champ. league and all of a sudden a bad season is a great season.

Well, I do think he should have played Arshavin, be it in place of Adebayor or RVP.

I think if it had been a league game or a CL game he'd have made subs earlier but I expect he had extra time and penalties on his mind and didn't want to play his cards too soon (But his hand was forced in the end by injuries).

The Highbury flats aren't going to bring in as much money as expected due to the market having fallen off and generally money being rarer etc. and the club still has £250m of debt (It's more than managable but it's better to play it safe).

But I suppose the most important thing that happened with the fa cup is that the mutd "best team ever win all cups" dream is shattered. lmao@berbatov

I liked it most because it showed again that Man Utd youth can't do it on their own. Fergie always gets cocky and tries to play his "youth" side in games, and they always do shit.

Also, what a flop Berbatov has been. He's such a one dimensional player like a poor mans Bergkamp, he's got the control and ability to pass but none of the vision or understanding of the game.

Those 3 were the best arsenal players tonight. If they had played against chelsea the game probably would've played differently so we can't assume those goals would've happened regardless. Those are nice analysis but I still don't give Wenger much credit if Arshavin's height was his reasoning for resting him in that game. Did you really except that prior to the match?

I would play Arshavin over Diaby. Diaby has no tactical awareness at all. But I actually kind of did expect to see Diaby play but I thought he'd rest RVP and play Arshavin. Still I don't think Chelsea would have lost since Silvestre and Touré can't deal with long balls and Eboué isn't disciplined enough.

Tonight I'd say it was:
Arshavin > Nasri > Song/Denílson > Bendtner

Walcott proved again how important he is, Gibbs had another solid game (He'll be better than Clichy by miles eventually) but I was disappointed by Sagna/Touré/Silvestre who really should have dealt with Liverpool better.

I'd say at the moment the best Arsenal team would be:
Almunia
Sagna, Touré, Gallas, Clichy
Denílson, Fabregas
Walcott, Nasri, Arshavin
Bendtner/Eduardo

I don't rate Adebayor at all as he's lazy, has poor control, and his tactical awareness is shockingly bad. He's never in the right position and his offsides break down at least 75% of Arsenals attacks a game.

Nasri over RVP because RVP is often too slow on the ball for me.

Song can come in as a backup for either at any time, his pro-active style makes him look better than he is though (Like Flamini), he's a lot more error prone with poor control and passing and lacks discipline positionally (He's had a few really strong games recently though). Denílson is calmer, tidy, has better control & passing and deals with things faster.

I think Wenger has underestimed Arshavins physical strength and fighting/winning mentality.

Agree for the most part but not about adebayor. Yes, someone needs to teach him the offside rule and he sometimes looks lost but I wouldn't call him lazy. He's very fast too and a natural goalscorer. He has a nack for scoring goals even from ridiculous positions. Would you really prefer Bendtner the clown? He can score too(occasionally) but he's very prone to silly and costly errors. Adebayor is just too black for you, racist!

Bendtner really doesn't make that many costly errors. His link up play is far superior and he gets into way more goal scoring oppurtunities and his goals to games ratio is actually pretty impressive considering many are sub appearances.

Sure he was in the way of a Fabregas strike last season in the CL Quarter Final and he missed some chances he really should have burried (Burnley for example but he also created lots of chances in that game that others failed to put away) but he's also scored and created some vital goals.

Bendtner is deceptively fast, not quite as fast as Adebayor but more than enough and he is just as much a natural goal scorer as him too (Not like they can match Eduardo anyway!), he's just lacking in confidence when he plays for Arsenal and who can blame him when everytime his name is read out by the announcer he gets a warm and spirited Boo thrown his way (And for what?) and he's in and out of the team.

Anyway after watching the goals on replay:

The first was poor play by Sagna, he rarely makes errors then he makes two shocking ones, terrible clearance and he really should have picked up and challenged Torres better.

The second was ridiculous and was all Silvestre's fault, he put Fabianski into trouble, who dealt with it the best he could but Gibbs was the only option and he couldn't have done much more than what he managed (Perhaps put it out for a throw).

The third was really good Liverpool play and a great goal by Torres, not much Fabianski or the defence could do.

The fourth goal was down to two errors, firstly there was really poor decision making by Touré to leave his position and attack the header which let Benayoun come into the middle with nobody ready to challenge. Secondly was a failure on the CMs to track back into the massive space between Silvestre/Touré and the penalty box, Song would be the main culprit here I guess since he was the de facto DM on the pitch, Denílson was making similar errors earlier on in the season which led to goals too.

Two and Four should never have happened and were totally avoidable, One was potentially avoidable but Torres is a menace in the air so it would have had to rely on the clearance being a lot better, three was just great play by Liverpool.

Only Arshavins third was dowe to an error by a Liverpool player.

Appreciated reading your thoughts on Arsenal, I'm abit to baked at the moment to argue a few things I disagree with, but fucking good opinions anyway.
