I wonder if we'll see vo0 compete in the AGP tour next year. He's played Warsow, and now plays Quake 3, so assuming he wants to do well, he needs to play mostly everything. Maybe we'll see vo0 playing Quake 4??

I don't get why they have Quake4 to be quite honest, who apart from toxic would really want to play it?

Having a UT game makes sense, a Quake game does too (Q3/QL), a standalone DM game such as Warsow again makes sense. But Q4 doesn't make any sense given that pretty much nobody has been playing it since the WSVG died, even at the height of PK/Q4 there were Q3 tournaments.

About the exciting thing, i based my opinion on the response from my friends.. i asked them a while ago what they think about Quake3/Quake4/UT.
The most response was, that they like q4 the most because it looks more impressive. More like "oh my god, i can't even do that by myself" and for ut3 its just pressing 1 key 2 times... but yeah they are more or less casual gamers.

Honestly, there isn't really much. MAYBE UT2k4, although at this point, I'm kind of against it. It's a great game, but the shield gun ruins duel completely. I don't believe in the concept of being able to get away from your opponent, after he damages you 90%. (in quake, this would never happen, you would chase, then kill him).

So, UT2k4 is a maybe, but that's all really.

Painkiller and QW won't have enough LAN players, and in terms of player base and playability, Quake 4 is the best one out of the left-overs.

Seeing where they'd hit/kill me from was a great way to learn where NOT to be, and it gives you extra motivation to learn quickly so you can live for more than a few seconds. You can't learn chess by playing checkers.

Yeah, I think you need to play every type of player though. I think its important to win and play worse players so that you can get control and learn the best ways to keep it. Playing vs ppl much better teaches you positioning and where to go from spawns when you die. It teaches you defensive play because you're always fighting without control and trying to regain. However, after a while the better players will become more even and fighting for control will be easier/more even. hehe try make sense of that :P

I agree, and it's how I spent most of my time learning when I started in QW/D2. I think most players take defeat too personally, but I'd happily ready up after losing a match to play again, in hopes to reveal more of how the person beat me.

"You can't learn chess by playing checkers" true although irrelevent. Retention is best when the learner is involved. If the conditions for learning are not ideal, then how can you expect one to learn from their mistakes? The only real mistake is when one learns nothing.

Practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. And that's exactly how Vo0 will do get there ;)

Sander "Vo0" Kaasjager is the best player that the old school mentality / dm community produced in fps - past "golden age" era.

He won the Cpl wt 2005 that was the hardest league ever to be played, on the hardest game.

Making the finals x10 the usual price makes no difference, he won the real championship. (imho)

Johnny is the most accomplished gamer, he is the best pro to be ever seen, and is a fearsome fighter. But Sander is a different story, this guy came out of nowhere, from an old school big bang he showed glimpse of gaming perfection (remeber UK?)
