maybe "dark side" is merely a philosophical reference, and not any particular entity in itself. and maybe all that is not dark is not to be questioned or contemplated, or maybe it's too complex to speak of. who knows.

Generally i think (the new) star wars movies are stupid, eg. when they have to kill padme those two bounty hunters/assassins, they use that robot to drop two Oh my god! poisonous catapillers..why the hell didnt it just inject some VX, or some explosives? no! it has got to be some toxic insect that kills her!

well, i actually think you can, the story needs credibility else it gets ruined. Like in the Lord of the Rings movies, to me they also contain a lot of stupid flaws that just shouldnt have been there, yet 99% of people dont really see them it seems. It's just certain scenes in the movie where i shake my head and feel like fastforwarding because it's too awfull to watch. I can give you a few examples, in the mines of moria they suddenly are attacked by orc/goblins whatever, after a fight in that tiny room they run out and get surrounded for several secs, yet none of the stupid orcs attack, mkay they all just decided that passive resistance was the best thing for the world or what? Then we see the lights and we sense that the balrog is going to appear, now this is a bad mofo, yet gandalf has to hold a speech of how terrible this thing is and that it's no use to fight against it with normal weapons, before he yells "run!!!1"
..yeah that makes sense. The stupid ringwraits, they are chasing frodo and arwen, reach a lake and then they stop. Why the hell would they want to stop? Are the affraid of water or something. Then finally they decide, "heey, why dont we cross the water now, and in a slow pace of course!" Then she starts with her elven magic thingie and even though the water is more noisy than a rammstein concert they just cba to look at what's causing the noise and they get washed away. And on and on...and the stupid comic reliefs that was put in the movie. And they have to destroy the ring, sauron is looking for it so they decide to travel to mount doom and cast it into the fire. My question is this, why the hell didnt they just grab a birdie like the one that saved gandalf and fly over the mountain with the ring? The ringwraiths are still in their human form and in the whole movie/book they are the only flying thing sauron has. Ok thats not a biggie really, just would like to get it explained..give me some excuse to why that couldnt take place.

Yes, they are very much afraid of water. One of the greatest of the Valar (gods) of the world, Ulmo is the Lord of Water. He was the one who ultimately brought the downfall to Morgoth (Sauron's master).

The water crossing you bring up is something they would trip extra careful around, since it is the entry to the elven land. In the books it is Elrond who brings forth the flood, not Arwen, Arwen is not even present, it is a much less known Elf that transports Frodo. However, both Arwen and Eowyn were given prominent rolls in the movie, likely because they wanted to attract the female audience to a greater degree.

"The Force" in many ways reflects "The Tao," in that its practitioners are meditative, mindful of the future, and are sensitive to the "will" of "The Force." Presuming the similarities stem any further, then the answer to such a question is this: because the light side is the dark side.

This is not unlikely. For example, "only the dark side deals in absolutes," which happens to be a catch-22 if the dark side was referenced as being opposite to obiwan's "light" side. Assuming the Jedi wasn't reciting a bad script and chose his words wisely, the "dark side of the force" could simply reflect a more limited, dualistic (and therefore oppositional) philosophy.

Long story short, if George Lucas wasn't an idiot with a famous 70's multi-billion-dollar-earning muppetshow, Jedi such as Yoda and Windu would have the freedom of being both--and neither--light or dark, thus following the movements of the force.
