gcse's in the UK are a joke. Every year i see these stupid posh girls giggling and jumping around because they got A's for their gcse's, like they think its some major achievement - yeah taking your coursework home and copying it from other sources is really TESTING... i just wanna smack them in the face.

boys used to perform better than girls at o level and a-level, so they introduced coursework (which girls are better at, since they can take it home and spend ages on it) to reduce the gap. Now boys are struggling because the course is about how much you can bullshit and copy rather than about how much you understand from the syllabus.

Pisses me off, cos although i have good a-levels, i know in a few years they will not be worth shit.

sorry for pissing on your parade but exams are a sore subject for me.

coursework varies in its weighting, for smth like english you do 8 pieces for a measly 15%, and in the technologies you do 1 piece worth 60% so it's significance isn't always great. girls probally do spend more time on their coursework, but it's not like boys aren't incapable of doing so too. i'm not sure of my own opinion on the coursework issue, if you do it well you're relieved of some pressure, but there is a huge scope to cheat and score well no matter what your true academic ability. hell, you can get an oxford student to do your coursework for you nowadays, for £60 pounds a pop some might see it as a bargain. nothing effective is being done to combat the issues, i know that since i got away with everything.

i think the issues lie more in the fact that it is so easy to plagerise, and there is no effective way to combat it being implemented, rather than in than in the gender gap it perhaps creates. it's no surprise to me girls are outperforming us, but i think that's a gender specifc issue.

Congratulations man, Nazg0l does have a valid point yet you are right, lads have as much of a chance as girls so it makes no difference. People would go insane for some of them results, and to say you are a little bit letdown with an A? Understandble considering the A* was a self target, but to say you are not happy with an A is a tad mardy? ;)

I did awesome last year for my GCSE results, considering I only I put serious revision time in for one subject but only got a D for it, which happened to be maths.

I ended up with 4 B grades from English and Science, and Two A grades from ICT. In tech I came out with a D then an F in German which was more than expected. Was overly chuffed with all of my grades apart from maths, that really put me down. Not as good as yours, but for me they were "wow".

Went into college, well, 6th Form to be exact. Ended up with an E for ICT which I should of walked through, and then a U in Englsih which was expected. I put 2% into the A levels at a push, totally my fault and shouldn't of went in the first place. The biggest letdown was my GCSE maths resit. I revised just as much as the first time around, all for the sake of ended up worse and getting an E.

Main problem was lack of commitment which was really caused by working nights. Was working from 12:00am until 4:00/6:00am for 5 nights a week, then getting up at 8 for college and sleeping where possible which was very fucking stupid.

Don't give a fuck now though. Will just take life day at a time, but really, don't head down the same road not worth wasting a year. :)
