Latest update post.

With a little bit over a month before the signup deadline, the number of teams seems good so far and couple of more should be coming, hence I encourage the teams to start paying the signup fee. I also received couple of donations already, so there will be prizes after all \o/. Please also let me know about your approximate arrival on Friday, so I can create the schedule with delayed arrivals in mind.

I'm not going to play since I've never really gotten into TDM and lack both the time and possibility to do so now. However, I might (probably will) use the occasion as an excuse to buy loads of expansive gear that I otherwise wouldn't allow me to and put that to use to provide some coverage in the form of video interviews or a try on a little event movie.
In order to do that I'd definitely need someone to assist me though.. what do you think? ;)

I will definetly go, I was in Prague this weekend and it was just brilliant stay: the countless jazz cafés and the sexy women with wery decent beer that can compete with the belgian ones (to a limited extent, lets not exaggerate) makes for a very interesting trip.

And it's not expensive at all \o/

Does anyone know a trophy maker? I think it would be cool to have one, as this is going to be a cool event, with loads of players.

I actually don't like medals somewhat.. and I agree that having one trophy for team of 4-5 players is bad as well (but I still like it more than medals).

I checked out some store where I live and they have trophies (cups) which look good and are quite inexpensive.. I'll have to go there again, as I didn't have much time last time. But what worries me is that how would people like getting a trophy. I'm sure that some would just throw it into garbage :)

I don't pretend to know how everybody's mind work, but here is my take.

Money in itself is not really precious. It becomes precious when used to buy either goods or experiences. According to [1], experiences outweighs goods when it comes to happiness.

Some experiences just require you to be there, like a great concert, or some nice sightseeing place, etc. Others entail a challenge, and give you the opportunity to prove yourself, leading to - imho - the best kind of memories. A trophy is the symbol of this, and goes much beyond the money it costs.

So, despite the fact it's very unlikely for me, I think I would love to win a trophy in Quake. This, on a personal level.

From an organizational point of view, it boils down to adding prestige to the competition. I don't think it's really a must, but since it's not really taking away much from the prize pool (with the assumption the trophy is worth more than its cost to the winner), why not?

In Bucharest there are really low prices and lots of shops that sell and personalize cups/trophies/medals.
If someone from Prague can do a little research on prices it'll be great to see if it's cheaper.

If it's more expensive there, I can take the task to order and purchase the cups/medals here in Bucharest and deliver them to someone in Prague prior to the event.

If you can tell me what you have in mind as in dimensions for the cups/trophies/medal i can give you price list, tho I would like this to be on my treat :).

Yes, they will carve with laser whatever the client wants, and the customization is for extra costs (i will ask also about carving prices).

But these are kinda expensive, those money will be better put in prize money don't you think?

The price for the second link is ~ 70 eu , and the carving/personalization is included in this price.
For the 3rd link, i didn't found any contact information on that site... clever marketing :)).

I can design and print some diplomas. better than nothing, but way less expensive and you can make it look good without spending any money.

I have a deadline myself from gaming place owners.. that's where it came from.

I believe that if I receive enough money by 20.8. so I could pay for the place, more teams are free to sign up after the deadline.
