Yeah, I was like 'wtf' when I realized Ger is out. I stopped watching Hun - Ger game after 1st map which Germany took pretty convincingly. Turns out Hungary pulled the match through :D

Watched back VODs, quality as always, but just one advice: Shooting gibs for damage boost is like an infection nowadays, even in top level teams. I watched back games against Germany and Ukraine, and you guys judged issue and bzd_ as best players for their teams, based on their damage output. Well, next time take in consideration, that they are shooting CORPSES for getting better damage stats... In the future would be nice to hear negative comments about these fake MVPs, insted of blessing them...

I don't think we would base it solely on that. When people shoot bodies we comment on it most of the time.

Sure, damage stats are still genuine some way, but think most of the spectators don't even know that, shooting gibs boosting your damage stats. I would highlight it for them, how lame is that actually, and why they have outstandingly higher damage. But whatever, that isn't piss me off, just think it's lame.

I don't see it happen THAT often from the stream, so I actually can't think it adds up to much of a damage increase overall.

It does! One quad rocket on a gib, gives you +300 extra damage, that's ridiculous. For example you take the quad, and there are 3 bodies in a pile (usually happens when teams are fighting for the powerup) and you shoot just one rocket on it, you can have +700-800 extra damage with one single rocket. Just imagine if you have 50 frags in a dm20 game (which is common), and you just shoot half of the gibs you fragged, not even talking about your teammate's corpses (which are also boost your damage stats) or other deadbodies you run across the map, you can have +2,5K extra damage, which is significant if you ask me. I tried once to shoot all the gibs on public, I gave 22K damage, even on pickups (with better players) I had 15K with this trick , I wasn't even playing my "A" game there. Well tbh I don't care if they do this in official games, they just wasting ammo and attention while doing it, so my team can take advantage of that, so GL with gib hunting! : )

btw the same happens in CA, but it also gives you score there. Nice little trick I found here last year (and probably the only gaming related thing I've learned on this site)

Well I mean as we spectate people we don't see it that much, so I don't think most players really abuse the bug that much. Also as I say we mention damage stats at the end, but I don't think we particularly say that damage alone is an indication of who is best.

are you kidding me, i've seen demos where pure corpse pummeling gives the player ~2000 damage, people wasting ammo and getting caught with their pants down cause they were busy boosting their stats :D games where up to 25% of damage for some players came from corpses.. its beyond ridiculous atm

i thought i know much about ql but this is new to me too. when i saw pummeling/shooting dead bodys in my mind was "oh oldschoold q3 players".

I hate that some national teams are made up of old players who do not really care about the game anymore and cannot be on time for one match a week.

Yes i am quite pissed off too really because in 14 years of gaming i never never never lost an appointment with a game even when i was sick.
When i was a young student i didnt care actually if enemies were missing because every evening was fine for me to play.
Now that i am a little older and i have a lot of stuff to do with my family, work and wife i am really really pissed off when someone doesnt show because i have to set my life scheduling carefully everytime when i need to play a game.
In 1999/2000 we used to get automatic default win when enemies doesnt show expecially in playoff. Maybe its time to set this rule up again so teams start to take seriously an appoinament for a game. Its just a matter of respect and education towards your enemies.
But seems that many teams forget about this nowadays and dont care a shit if someone is loosing his time.

It's just basic respect for people who actually have to make time for Quake really.

Though... i guess from the alternative perspective, there are things more important than QL, so skipping out if something comes up isn't ONLY an evil thing :p. But then i guess: if the issue is more important, then giving a default win is np anyways. I'm going in circles wooo :)

The reason I'm able to (still!) play Q2 and QL in various leagues (and maintain my 'status' IRL, with work, girlfriend, family and leisure time etc) is due to the fact that I schedule and turn up for those times. There are of course a lot of players/teams who don't show, or don't notify you that they can't make it and this happens a bit to often for my taste. :(

Of course not everyone, and those people and teams are the ones you respect.
