If you don't have any problems with low friction pads get the speed pad and own.
Btw. there is no need to instal the mouse driver. Set it to 450 dpi for quake and have fun. I don't regret my abyssus :)

I wouldn't say that Speed is low friction pad. It's kinda absurd, but it has even more friction than Control. Why the heck they called it "Speed" I don't know.

Yes, first I bought Control and it was great, then I thought that I would like a faster pad with less friction, bought Speed and was disappointed. Speed actually resists mouse movement a bit more than Control. It may be a very good pad for some people by itself, but the name "Speed" relative to "Control" in the same series of products is just not exactly correct.
For me, Control is excellent pad, offering very fast gliding and at the same time great control because of its somewhat rough texture that makes your hand feel almost exactly what distance it has moved.
Speed has a bit of "sandpapery" feel with much finer texture that isn't felt by hand quite as good as on Control.

You can make abyssus jitter horribly on func grudge black if you really want to by messing with the angles, but if you keep the mouse and the mousepad straight at all times ( no diagonal postioning ) then you have nothing to worry about

I think you're a bit confused, afaik there's no 3g abyssus. and yes those 4 pads are horrible in my opinion, taito has way too much friction, same for func C, magna is uncomofrtable too small and not that fast compared to grainy plastic mousepads while qck+ fnatic is way too fast without any feedback at all, to top it off, it has poor durability according to other users, and they also say that it's pretty similar to goliathus speed and puretrak talent.

You may encounter minor jitter with g-rf if you look hard enough but it's 99% playable imo, its cloth feels different compared to the others, but in a good way, you have to be a little careful when using it or cleaning it, if you don't it will lose its water resitance pretty and then the glide will become inconsistent.


PS : just checked the chinese link, if it indeed sports a 1800dpi 3g then you shouldn't be that much worried about jitter, afaik 3g is less "picky" than 3.5g

well, but it does jitter as u can see in his pics.
he should try at 450dpi and draw the circles again to see if its not just human jitter.

Actually I bought Kinzu and I tasted its shitty sensor so in the next day I brought it back to the store and replaced for Abyssus.

I use the Talent primary, but it absorbs humidity (hand sweat) and after a round the surface is really slow -,- the NP+ is supposed to be waterproof, so I'm thinking of getting it.

And i wouldn't buy a pad only because its easy to clean (plastic pads anyone?).
I used to play with a many years old qck heavy and liked it over a new one in the beginning, but the restistance from NP+ is just extreme, like it was made out of rubber on top.

Actually I have no experience in cleaning cloth mousepads, I once cleaned a Goliathus in the washing machine but that was it. How am I supposed to clean a cloth mousepad? Fiber cloth & water or..?

I did that with my qck heavy, but it was too big for the washingmachine and after washing it had a fold in the middle which is still there.

After that i washed it per hand and washpowder, which works quite ok, but it takes long until its dry again.

oh, u mean it gets wet, but usually u dont move the much over it.

the whole area around that spot gets somehow wet and due to that slow : x I don't know how it is possible that a whole big area feels shit while I only see a small wet spot on the pad. Maybe it's not only hand sweat, but the air humidity.. I don't know, just sharing my personal experience. I found a solution for this though: turning the pad upside down every 10-20 minutes, although that's isn't always comfortably done. For example a 20 min long tdm match. At the end of the match the pad starts annoying me due to its slowness, but I obviously have to say focused (unfortunately staying focused is at the same time noticing that the pad's glide feels shit -,-) and don't have time for turning it upside down :/

fuck my sweaty hands, fuck razer. I have to wash my hands every round for the mouse literally sticking to my hands, else I wouldn't be able to play (without that feel).

Can you change dpi with this mouse at all? What are the options? Is there any on-board memory or do you need to have drivers installed at all times for different settings to work?

There's a picture already in my first post (please let me know if you can't see it as you're not the first that didn't notice it).

As you can see there's a range from 200 to 1800dpi. My Abyssus is an old model (max 1800dpi - 3G sensor). In this specific model, you can only change dpi through software. I don't know if there's an onboard memory which remembers the software-defined dpi.


All of this only matters if you want this specific old model. The picture posted by Skylit shows an Abyssus Mirror edition, which is different model from mine (newer). In that model you can hardware-define the dpi (in the bottom of the mouse).

nah, it isn't newer, it's just a different version. the abyssus you have has been made especially for the people of/in 3rd world countries as the people there tend to not have enough money to buy expensive things (vide: gamer mice).

PS. I don't think your model is available for purchase anywhere in Europe.

Either my mouse is mislabeled as being 3G or it's a true 3G. Only way to know is opening it and checking the sensor chip.

This mouse comes from the bundle Razer Cyclosa.

Just came from the store and I've quickly tested Goliathus Speed, Goliathus Control, Zowie P-RF and QcK (dunno the exact model, but it was a very slim mouse pad). Well, I could barely see any jitter in any of those mouse pads. Very subjectively I could see that the smoothest jitter-free mouse pad was Goliathus Speed, so I did buy it. Still, all of them seemed pretty much jitter-free, and I tested all of them in like 10 minutes. The LOD in the Goliathus Speed was ~3 CDs (in my mouse pad is 4 CDs). So that makes me believe that the Abyssus I own has a legit 3G sensor since it did not jitter even in the QcK (the slim one).

Unfortunately the debit card system in the store was down so I came back home with no mouse pad. I've just bought through internet at my home now and in 1 or 2 days I should have it in hands for further testing.
