To say that CZM's config is beyond fucking weird is an understatement.
Loaded it up along with a couple of other configs cause I'm having a spring cleaning of my own and CZM's config gave me a headache. Inverted mouse (or whatever the one is when you pull down on your mouse and it looks up), weird controls and zooms, viewmodels on, crosshair that takes up half the screen plus more I can't even remember. I mean what the fuck is he smoking?!
Everything in his config is from logical understanding on how the game should be played.
Take his controls for example. RL, LG and RG are all based around the bottom left of where his movement keys are. He uses his pinky to hit those keys. This is because those weapons are definitely the most used in the game, aka the most important. You should never have to sacrifice movement in order to bring out a main weapon. This is why he uses his pinky. No matter what, when he takes out RL, RG or LG, his movement isn't sacrificed to use that weapon.
True but then I've been quite happy to use WASD with Q, E, F, R for different weapons (basically default QL I guess). Have thought about moving it more to the centre of the keyboard for team-binds etc but cba (fuck 'em. I carry teams, they shouldn't have to care what I'm doing /sarcasm)
The inverted mouse gives me a headfuck though. Anyone else play with this and has he always played it? (I'm assuming so)
I think I used it for console games, but for mouse shooters it just feels wrong. It's like your using the controller/mouse as your head's view (so if you pull down you'll pulling your head back)
And not the right kind of wrong like when you 'accidently' slip it in the wrong hole.
i play with inverted mouse, always have. honestly, it's as much of a "choice" for us to play inverted as it is for you to use the normal settings. if i try to play uninverted it's impossible.
interestingly, both my brothers play with inverted mouse. perhaps our brains are fucked up.
not that i think you were going to, but altering it and pondering whether you'd recieve any benefit is as ridiculous as inverting the yaw and thinking your game might improve if you stick with it. it's not a choice, it's just what makes intrinsic sense.
No I realized after I said it that I do use it inverted for console games (because like I said, it feels like my head's view so when I pull back on the controller I'm pulling back on my head to look up) and find it impossible to play console games not like that (though to be fair, I rarely play consoles)
With a mouse because typically it's close to the monitor, I prefer to just move it according to correlation to the screen.
So I don't say it's much of a choice, just that it's hella weird to play if you're not used to it (and visa versa) :P
It's not logical. You put 3 fingers on movement keys, but you move only with up to 2 at the same time. You always have one "movement" finger free to choose weapons. That's actually why other people can easily play with weapons binded to other regions around movement keys and still pwn czm.
