get the puretrak talent, its got a silky touch like the DKT pad, best cloth pad i know. very inexpensive too.

puretrak talent is slower than titan in my opinion ( unless he's talking about the older DKT with the CS logo printed on it ) get a zowie G-RF i love mine :)

Other cheaper (not much :p) solutions are the everglide titan and goliathus speed (faster).

What are the surfaces like on these two? I prefer slow'ish, I don't like them to be really slidey :)

The QCK+ surface is really something. A perfect contrast between low friction and grip.

thou there seems to be an ongoing debate wich goliathus, speed or control, is faster / has least friction.

If I remember well, the control has an annoying grid that you can feel when you pass across. Well, at least the mantis control had it and as the goliathus is pretty much the same ...

The Control has this coarse grid pattern with holes in it, and it is annoying, feels almost bumpy and I believe slows down x-y mouse movement. It's like this extra textured feeling when moving the mouse slowly. Also I got strange lag with my Copperhead. I would be hitting everything one moment then missing a lot the next. I think the pad was just incompatible and I returned it to Fry's the very next day. Unfortunately Fry's doesn't sell the Speed version so I can't speak for that, although it's suppose to be an improved version of the older Mantis Speed which I'm still using for the time being (which is wearing out and fraying in the front). I'm probably going to make a leap for the Megasoma simply for it's tracking reliability. If I don't like that then I'm ordering a Goliathus Speed which should be pretty similar to my old Mantis Speed in terms of friction and smoothness aka uniform surface that has the tight weave aka no loose fibers to interfere with tracking, that I prefer.

The goliathus speed should be like the mantis. They just made the new one because they had the mantis made by everglide (it's a titan + razer logo). Thus they don't pay them anything anymore, they get it themselves directly to another fac or whatever.

But give a try to the puretrak ;)

Eh..a QCK wearing down quickly? I've had mine for two years and it's still as if it was new. I and my girl use my computer all the time, both for gaming and work and it's not worn down anywhere on the pad. Even the logo looks fine. Of all the mouse pads I've tried and used over 15 years, this is by far my favourite.

It's a good mousemat but it feels a lot different the first week than for the rest of it's duration. You should probably notice it if you got a brand new one now. Just feels massively smooth for a bit, then it becomes normal.

If it gets dirty:

Fill your basin with a bit of water, put some washing pow(d)er in it. Let it soak in for a couple of minutes. Then clean it using a sponge or cloth. Don't use too much force, you want to clean it, not destroy it.

Alternatively you can do what a friend of mine does (although, it's not a steelpad, just a normal clothpad, same fabric though): Put it in the washing machine.

If you have a flat, clean surface and don't go to lans or something you could just get the Steelseries Qck. It's like $10-15

If it's gotten dirty after a good years use you can simply throw it in the washing machine @ 40°C with your other stuff. Air dry it after - as good as new

Razer Goliathus > QCK

QPad CT (available in few sizes, as well as thick and thin version).

I was using QcK and Everglide Titan but both those popular pads are horrible in comparison to CT.
Although currently I don't play at all, I've been using it for over 2 years and after cleaning it (got white version) it looks almost like a brand new pad! Really worth those money.

wet cloth/towel or something like that should do the work :P

qpad ct is an unconsistent fcuk. you have to use it for a very long time to get a consistent feeling and by then you are better off with any other cloth pad.

QPAD CT has a great surface called hybratek but after 3 weeks excessive usage it's already worn out. I attached some mousetapez which helps a bit to get back less friction though.

QPAD is easily the best pad when it's driven in but not worn down yet

But the fact that it doesn't last a month makes it a bad choice.

I actually thought it would be too thin too at first. But wow, after you try it and get used to it, it works so well.
