One fundamental change: mg damage 4 per bullet.

That's it. Everything else is polishing which will be done eventually. New maps will be made, fullbright skins, bug fixing etc.

You mean lg is not harder to hit up close? Up close you get thrown around by rockets, get killed by one good sg hit without armor, get spammed by plasma, possibly get pummeled...it's aone of the weaker guns up close....so I agree to disagree.

With mg at first look it might be the same, but it's not. MG is the fucking spawn weapon. Why on earth should you do massive amounts of damage with the spawn weapon?
Now you might argue "look at the demos it's not like that when the pro's play". Exactly. I'm not talking about the best, since they are a minority. I'm talking about low and middle tier, where you can do everything, but bad :)

lg is not meant to be the dominant weapon in close fights. rocket launcher is. so the balance is good.

people who were good with shaft before, are still good with it. its just that they need to learn when to use it, cause before it was dominant in *every* single situation except when shooting across the map, but if it had bigger range it would be dominant even then. fuck the 1 weapon game.

its good now, maybe shotgun should be nerfed a bit cause it can take down godzilla within two shots.

I agree, lg is fine as it is. The sg is more powerful than the q3 sg, but I couldn't find an argument against it. Why not have another powerful pickup weapon. It's a bit strong if I get gunned down, it's really great when I gun down a whole army with quad.

I would like to try sg with 4 damage per pellet, only because of the fact that it got way more accurate with non-random pellets, but tbh I don't care as that won't change the dynamics of the game in my opinion.

As a general rule I would say don't compare ql to q3, look at the game as something on its own.

That's way too much text, also I think he wants to have a new fps competition game like qw. That's not what I want, 4 mg damage and that's it, the game is great.

I think it would allow more control in every gametype, by that enabling more depth in gameplay. The reason it is necessary is the new netcode that makes everyone hit more. I'm not sure how this will turn out, and I don't care, I will like it either way. Just this one gift to gameplay. 4 mg damage and everything's cool.

The topic is ,,What QL needs to be great'', its only a good game, it wont be GREAT becouse its Q3 @ 2000 year with slight differences. Great games make one step forward in gaming, not backward.

I still believe that this game needs some serious changes with weapon and armor system. Also I approve light, indeed characters move like statues.

Its still a good game but... hello It is 2009 ! Even mods have made bigger progress sice then. Its not like you can choose, there is QL, dying CPM, dead QW and dead PK.

That's what I thought, 1. the SG kicks ass the way it is and 2. I really really hated random pellets, and finally they are gone, so all is well. The SG got powerful, why not? Still takes skill to master, is a pickup weapon. In TDM it allows the team in the weaker areas to regain control a bit easier, but SG vs. rocket/lg/rail is still hard.

It's just that you spawn with mg. It makes no sense to kill an armor stacked oponnent who has a RL or a LG with the spawn gun. But that's what happens in many situations, and I think it lessens the fun and rewarding aspect of taking control, securing or timing weapons, control the rail...

On the other hand, 4 mg damage would certainly change the game in ways we can't anticipate, so it will be trial and error. If it turns out to make no difference for new players but allows more depth for skilled players leave it, if not it can still be changed back.

You seem to think only elitists post on this site.

I did take into account that in QL you mostly play your own tier. A more skilled player will always win no matter what the mg damage is. I'm arguing for the sake of equal skilled teams or opponents, and out of my perspective, which is middle tier. Also I think that's where most players are at, and that's the clientele id wants, players that frenquently play the game and participate in the community.

It wouldn't make sense to make the game suited only for the few best.

I have no problems whatsoever with vertex that can't be fixed with a "vid_restart". I also used lightmap lighting and that was fine too, no big difference. I think you are just nitpicking for whatever reason.

In Q3 even 7 mg damage worked well. So technically if you compare the games the mg was already nerfed in duell. I like that, also I like same damage for every gametype, so that it's easy to switch beteween them.

But would less mg damage take anything from duell as it is now. I'm still waiting for arguments against nerfing it.

if everyone moves with the pace of statues, changing the damage of the mg will only mean a minor change to the game, all other weapons will still be way too easy to hit with, simply because everyone still moves like statues.

I don't think running speed is the reason, I think it's the new netcode, which I really like. Now shots are correctly registered when I shoot the target, no rails going thorugh, no enemy lg that cripples my movement.

I prefer that over q3 netcode any day.

It does? Didn't notice. LG has knockback, that's initentional. At least not as much crippling as in q3, which is good.

No we removed the cripple a year ago. There's of course tons of knockback when you're in the air but there's no cripple effect.

truelightning is totally fucked in QL for me. i mean, in q3 i always used 0 and aimed with the beam and it worked great. but here my shaft is much better with truelightning 1, just by aiming with the beam image. i just don't get it. when i try to aim with 0, its totally different than before and doesn't do shit. dunno.

it must be the oh so awesome unlagged netcode.
