What's the oldest person you asked this and who is gaming that has not at least heard of quake? I find it hard to imagine that someone above 20 hasn't played at least one iteration of it at some point or at least hasn't heard of it.

When I tell people I play quake they either mutter about something old and hardcore or just comment on it's outdated graphics. Both very valid points. Very rarely people want to play something that they need to put in couple of months to be on par with the lowest tier and to play something that looks like from 2000.

if I'd knew quake would still be around in 20 years ...
I would be more incentive in playing in right now ...

but since it's owned by a company you never know when they will pull the trigger ...
or if they release a new game called ql 2.0 and all the sheep will change to ql 2.0, because it is the successor ... although gameplay is even worse and only graphics are a bit fancier .... and even if you can renounce this stuff by rational though, it will have an emotional impact on you that a successor is out there and u r still playing the old version, because humans are not rational ... we would need some sort of community quake ... with some standards commitee ...

Yes, ofc everyone will change to ql 2.0, not everyone is stuck 1999, it's called progress. Better graphics is something quake really needs. The current quake community is decreasing or will soon enough if nothing is done.

The rest is just incoherent ramblings. QW and Q3 OSP and CPMA will be there FORVER, nothing is going to change that. You cant expect a company to throw money at some old nostalgic fucks though..

... but I still happen to play sometimes against bots ... quake live is just so much fun ... so much skill involved ...

but I hate this competetivity, always being rated ... u know I chose the things I compete in, for example triathlon, and if I chose to be competetive I do a race ... if not I just mostly cycle or run, but outside competition ... in quake live, etc., almost every game is rated ... I have so much competetion in my life, I cannot be competetive everywhere ... sometimes I just want to play for fun ... being a rather competetive guy myself, I hate to lose, I want to be good in something, so it always angers me, that games rate you from the start ... let me play some unrated games just for playing for fun instead ...

anyway back on topic ... better graphics o.k., but just that, no simplification or great change in the gameplay ...
we need an open source fps, that is accepted by everyone with a standards comitee behind it, so some dumb company like id that is going downhill and won't exist anymore in 10 years doesn't ruin the experience by bringing out a "successor" for the masses that has dumbified gameplay etc. ... because a company behind a game can easily destroy the community, etc. ... also the guys hired for quake live are not doing a good job, these guys already runined a lot of potential ... if a community was behind quake everything would be so much easier, more levels, lan tournaments, etc. ...

q3, qw, q2, all have one problem, they have been "succeeded" by other quake titles ... and this succession renders them worse for new beginners, etc. ... u don't want to play or prefer part 1, when part 2 just came out ... easy psychology, don't know what people can't understand there ... people just read their opinions in magazines, but are unable to create an opinioin themselves by looking at the world outside of them and drawing their own conclusions ...

quake community is decreasing, because ID SOFTWARE did an absolute shit job, and the guys right now running quake live are just subpar. can't help u, if u r just a sheep and think everything the company does comes from god and must be right ...

and triple points ... are good ... a good addition to the language on the internet ... which is not comparable to a long monologue in a letter or book, but more like a spoken dialogue which involves still more thoughts, because it's not spoken, but written. If anything I wish I would of spent more time playing and enjoying the game than worrying that it wasn't as big as Counter Strike or Call of Dudty.
