Autoexec loads once you start the client. Joining games doesn't trigger it anymore.

For future reference just incase you really do need to figure out where to put it.

Go to Windows Start (W7 ORB, or whatever you have), search up %appdata% and hit enter.

Next, go back a folder into Local Low, then you will spot a folder called 'id software'. I can't remember the rest, but once you're in that folder you have access to every file basically.
