-What kind of game is #rekt?
#rekt is a First Person Shooter or FPS. Its style falls in line with what is commonly referred to as an arena shooter (e.g. Quake, Unreal Tournament).

-Why make another game like that? I thought that genre was dead…
Ultimately we have been unsatisfied by the attempts at releasing arena shooters for the past decade and are making the modern arena shooter that we would like to play. It is our hope that others feel like us and share our tastes in arena shooters enough to enjoy #rekt too.

-While very few AAA quality arena shooters worth mentioning have been released since the start of this millenium, we believe that there is still a dedicated player base for this kind of game. That base may not be big enough to entice the large studios and publishers any more, but we are a small independent development team unburdened by hard deadlines or shareholders.

-How does #rekt play compared to other games in the genre?
As a team of arena shooter fans, we have drawn inspiration from several examples in the genre. Our goal is to create an experience that combines our favorite features from Quake, Unreal Tournament, Tribes and other classic shooters into a unique concoction that borrows the best, throws out the rest and adds our own flair to the mix. A shooter that is easy for new players to pick up and yet still a challenge for the most dedicated genre fans to truly master. More details about movement, weapons, maps, game modes, etc. will be released as soon as possible.

-What state of development is #rekt in right now?
The game has been in development since February 2014. As of right now it is in a playable and enjoyable albeit basic state. In developer terms it is still an alpha.

-What sort of engine or technology is being used to create #rekt?
Unreal Engine 4 has been the leading technology behind #rekt.

-When will #rekt be released?
We are planning to make our public debut at QuakeCon July 17, 2014 in Dallas Texas. A free downloadable public version should also be available on or possibly before this date. This release will feature a playable build of the game in an alpha state. Almost all of the basic game-play features will be implemented, but the art quality, weapon balance and number of maps/game modes will be lacking compared to anything that could be considered a “final” release.

-Why have there not been more videos and screenshots posted about #rekt?
In the early stages of development, we have found it to be counterproductive to post too much information too soon about any of our projects. Releasing information too early has the potential to give the public a false impression about the content and the quality of our products as well as our intentions. Our policy is to release information only as it is finalized and representative of our overall direction with a given product including #rekt.

-Is #rekt going to cost money?
We have not finalized any decision on how or even if #rekt will be monetized and reserve all rights to change our policies in the future. All of the team members view this as a passion project. For the foreseeable future, all public releases including the QuakeCon debut release, will be 100% free.
