if22: I don't think you really need to be introduced, but just for the less experienced gamers: can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
fatal1ty: My name is Johnathan 'fatal1ty' Wendel, and I'm 21 years old and have been playing Professionally for about 3 years now. I've been considered the best Pro Gamer in the World for these 3 years as well.

if22: What have you been doing since the last AVP2 tournament? Haven't heard much about you since then.
fatal1ty: Well, I started playing Counter-Strike a lot. I went to several tournaments and won some good prizes but then realized I wanted to play Quake 3 again and win QuakeCON2k2. I made that decision about 2 months ago, and ever since then I been playing about 8 hours a day since June 21st.

if22: What is the purpose of your (soon to be opened) new site fatal1ty.com?
fatal1ty: The site will have a lot of fatal1ty-related news. I have my config on the site, and also tournaments I'll be at and tournaments I've attended. I'm also working on creating a fatal1ty Gaming Mousepad (FATpad) which I'm still in the works of creating.

if22: Can you tell me some things about the new FATpads (mousepad) you are bringing out soon?
fatal1ty: Well, they are going to be huge in width. Most mousepads that gamers use today are very small or medium size, and they have to pick up the mouse a ton to turn and shoot. But when your shooting with the LG and other tracking weapons, if you don't have to pick up the mouse for that short time and keep shooting him, you could possibly do 20-50 more damage instead of picking it up again.

if22: Do you still use the same setup (mouse, config, keyboard) as you used before? If not, why did you changed it?
fatal1ty: I'm still using the same exact config I used since RazerCPL. I did change it once for testing purposes, and realized that it didn't work and went back to my old sensitivity. My keyboard and mousepad, are still the same, but now I'm using the Microsoft Explorer 3.0 now because of its consistency.

if22: Why did you decided it is time for a comeback as a professional Quake3 player?
fatal1ty: Well, I never really stopped being a Professional Quake3 Player. I can still handle pretty much everyone in the US, but by me going to QuakeCON2k2 and winning it, I'll be proving a lot of people wrong and showing the world I'm #1.

if22: How did you prepared yourself for the upcoming QuakeCON2k2 event?
fatal1ty: I started on June 21st and I flew out to Paul "CZM" Nelson's to practice for a month with the best gamers from the east coast. After that I flew back home and started training with some good players from Central. And now I'm ready to go down to QuakeCON2k2 and get it on.

if22: What are the specifications of the computer you use to practise? Does it depends on the QuakeCON2k2 tournament-pc setup?
fatal1ty: Not really, but I actually have the exact same pc as QuakeCON is using this year besides the ATI video card. I have a AMD xp 2000, Geforce 3 DDR/DVI and a Sound Blaster Live Sound card.

if22: What are you aiming for at QuakeCON2k2? First place and first place only?
fatal1ty: First Place Only!

if22: About the upcoming Unreal Tournament 2003 game. Do you think you are going to play that game? Do you wait for Doom3/Quake4? Or will you end your gaming career right after Quake3 (if so, have you got any other plans?)?
fatal1ty: I definitely plan on playing Doom3 and Quake4, but I'm not exactly sure if I'll play UT2k3 or not. I'm also working on my company fatal1ty Inc. with making gaming peripherals. I'm working on trying to create a Gaming Keyboard and also maybe a Gaming Mouse.

if22: Will you compete at the next WCG tournament in Korea?
fatal1ty: Thats also up in the air right now, just haven't had time to sit down and think about everything yet.

if22: Lets say, it's more likely you will be attending WCG Korea after you won QuakeCON2k2 than it is when you lose at QuakeCON2k2?
fatal1ty: Don't want to say.

if22: How do you experience flying for xx hours to the other site of the world to compete in a tournament? Does it influence your decidions about going or not going to particular events?
fatal1ty: I'm not afraid of flying for xx hours. I actually enjoy flying and arriving in a different continent. Its a lot of fun to be away from home and see how other people live across the world. Particularly, I sleep usually the whole time while on the plane if possible, its more relaxing that way.

if22: Finally, I would like to know your top-5 prediction for QuakeCON2k2.
fatal1ty: I haven't really thought of it. I'm just concerned about my game and going there and winning it.

if22: Than, guess some!
fatal1ty: I don't want to guess, my concentration is on me going there and performing to my best ability and winning it. Whatever everyone else does, thats their thing.

if22: Oh, and before I forget to mention. A lot of people are interested in how you managed to play one handed at this demo(if it's real). What keys did you used and where did you bind them to?
fatal1ty: It is real, when I'm playing an opponent of Dex. Here is my config setup for 1handed. Mouse2: forward, Side Button: backwards, Mousewheel UP and Down: Switch weapons, Mouse1: Fire, Mouse3: duck, Side Button #2: Jump. That's it.

if22: Last! Which websites do you visit on a daily base?
fatal1ty: Shackes , xsreality , cached , fatal1ty.com ( will be more active soon when I have time ). But more so, you can find demos on my site that you won't be able to get on other peoples sites. Like practice demos of me and so on.

if22: Okay Johnathan, thanks for giving me some of your time and I hope you will do well at QuakeCON2k2!
fatal1ty: Thanks man... Take care. Tell all the Euros I said Hi. Later. Sup.
