How to watch Quake Live demos in VR (wolfcam+VorpX) (6 comments)
Posted by wwwAnyBoy @ 00:34 UTC, 21 May 2026 - iMsg
Through VorpX you can play many 3d games in VR. Not Freeware ( but... you know ;) )
VorpX

Tested on PICO 4 Ultra.

1. Install VorpX, launch it.
2. Need to create new profile for Wolfcamql.exe:
Go Menu->Configure VorpX->Local Profiles->Select "Quake III Arena"->Create a new profile based on this one->Check All 4 check Boxes->Select created profile->Add File->Choose wolfcamQl.exe-> Apply and Close

3. Launch Wolfcamql->Press DEL on keyboard

If you can't watch demos (big square texture in the middle of the screen while in "Geometry 3d MODE") or your FPS during watching too low (but you have good PC).

4. In VorpX menu set 3D Geometry OFF (turn off 3D ) You should see wolfcamQl main menu and be able to select Settings.

5. Reset all Wolfcamql settings to default through main menu.

6. Go Settings->System-> Turn off GLextensions->Choose 16:9->Choose 3840x2190->Accept

7. Select demo and play it->press DEL->turn ON 3D Geometry

If this is asking whether I think zhu should be able to sign up and attend, by all means. Whether he is allowed to participate or not is a different matter and will be up to admin's decision.

You keep posting this video like it means something, for all everyone knows you could have cheated and be playing back a demo and pretending to play and with you being banned from quake, that's not an unfair statement.

Your inability to recognize this and continued attempt to somehow make out it does not exist is what should keep you banned.

Its not that someone does not deserve a second chance, its that you don't because you've not been graceful in your punishment and tried to make a nuisance of yourself to try and deal with that.

Personally, I hope you stay banned as your distress amuses me.

Good map control and movement! Now i'm really intrigued to know what your real level is; you could be a nice addiction to the actual pro players pool, that is becoming thinner and thinner.
But for starting, you could start behaving like a semi-sober person, at least, and cutting down some free craziness.

Depends on sign ups IMO. I don't think it would be fair if zhu gets his spot on the expense of one of new up and coming duel player who are dedicated, someone like 'sothis' for example (just used sothis as an example since he mentioned in another thread that he is interested to attend and he has yet to receive an invite).
If the choice comes down to be between zhu and some random swede who came to spec and wasn't even planning on playing at all then I have no problem with it.

I do not see how it would be possible to let him attend if he's still banned from QL though. If a certain player has been banned from the game itself (for cheating in a competition with prize money on the line) then I do not think a certain tournament admin should be able to by-pass his official ban.

So while in theory I have no problem with zhu competing on lan their are certain issues that I believe cannot just be overlooked.

Just use him as a backup. He already said he'd go no matter he played or not. And people always drop out last minute to be replaced by 1200 elo Swedes. So having Zhu as a replacement would be a good idea. But first we need to...

the biggest problem is that esr lost a lot of dedicated contributors 5 years ago, and there weren't any replacements from the community to fill the void. what we're left with now are people who feel entitled to entertainment and content, but lack that contributory spirit that drove the success of the first half of esr's life.

how do we renew that contributory spirit?

who wants to write? who wants to review hardware? who wants to review games? who wants to format news for counter-strike and starcraft, so that the site isn't limited to quake lineage? who wants to talk about lol, dota2, etc.? if we find out who WANTS to, we have to ask who is qualified to generate respectable content.

the internet allows all these tiny subcultures to form their own little bubbles that never interact. it's pointless to have one warsow post once every 5 months when the warsow community is totally isolated from esr every day in between.

but diversity is necessary for a healthy ecosystem. it's a problem that is on my mind a lot lately, but i'm so damn busy in my life that it seems i never have time to really sit down to address it.

1st. i wanna see all those videos they are talking about in the news that made them consider this.

2nd. i want zhu to make a video crying (literally) asking to be free and how depressed he is and how he's in a life or dead situation now because of quake.

Your exactly what i mean, and average player washed up that will never be good enough to be there with the best.

Everyone knows that beating player A or B at a pub with a fakenick is nothing to be proud of, and doesn't mean sh*t.
Going to sites bragging about it just makes you look even worst.

The only guy i know that used to tryface at pubs was strenx, and if u show me a video of u beating him i will apologize.

Anyways, i think you should rethink your strategies, since your cheat episode you've been bullied around and maybe you like it, since you expose yourself to ridicule situations, but if you don't you should really try to change this.

Like me, i don't really hate your or something, i just felt the need to take 5 min of my day to make fun of someone. Cya later man, hope your dreams come true.

This poll should never even be happening. Furthermore, to consider its results for id would be hypocritical. Quake is about pure competition, and this thread shows that you guys put entertainment first. Many of you come here for the lulz you might say, but that's not an excuse to choose entertainment in a direct confrontation.

Is Quakelive so dead now that you have to bring back banned cheaters to get any games going?

It would be interesting to hear a proper motivation to why people want to see him at DH. Is it because of his uncontested raw natural talant or for the lulz? If it's because of his talant, then fair enough, if it's for the lulz, I would suggest you consider trying to find another victim for your amusement.

Why find another victim... He must want to be ridiculed otherwise a person even with just an iq of 40 would not post the things he posts!

He is probably suffering from some medical condition with a slice of mythomania incorporated. If having the most idiotic comments is a qualifying requirement for the DH tournament then by all means let him play! Otherwise just let him sit in his parents basement and be delusional thinking he is the best player in the world at every game he tries !

The description above is pretty accurate. Don't you have anything better to reply with than that I should be on drugs, which if course is completely inaccurate, as always when it comes to you. You certainly have some sort of medical condition don't you? Also, do you object to my comment about you being compulsive liar?

Oh sorry, you think you are trolling. Let me inform you that when you constantly lie to your internet "friends" day in and day out, it's not trolling. It's lying and people that lie all time is in fact mythomaniacs.

And I don't see why you would be welcome back to quake. You were average and cheated to play with the best. Also, the games are not what they used to be. You coming back now will not prove anything. All the good players, most of them at least, don't play anymore and you even if you were to do good now, you were still mediocre in the prime time. Sorry to say this dude, regardless of what you may think yourself you are still only a mediocre player and had to cheat to try to get people to think you were good. I can't find a single reason to let you play again. Except for the amusement of course. Unfortunately, you are not as amusing as you may think.

Or are you saying that you did beat Strenx, Cooller, Av3k, Rapha, Cypher, Dahang, K1llsen, Stermy, Toxjq and fox at their best on stream?

I'm pretty certain we all would know about that by now if that were the case. If not, look you are lying again. Otherwise you have just beaten public heroes on a public server in a game that is dying or am i wrong ?

Sure you can have evil instead of fox if u want, and take away stermy. Still wont change that you have infact not beaten any of these players in a try hard game (or without WH)! If you had esr would have been flooded with zhumade videos!

Im not speaking about who the top ten is right now at the moment, like i said that is not so intresting cuz the game is dying. Im just saying that you would not stand a chance against any of these if they have been training!

When you were banned you were not good enough to play with the best and I can only assume that was the reason for your cheating. You despreatly want to be acknowledged as a amazing quake player and since you couldn't be that by your own play, you had to cheat. Unfortunately you were caught and banned for that. Realize that you were never anything but a decent player with a loud voice crying to be heard and recognized. Why don't you just move on to a game and a community where you haven't dragged your name into the dirt (yet)!

You are giving me far to much credit, i have only played CA vs noobs for 4 years!

I can have a personal opinion and still choose to listen to poll results that may not match my opinion.

But to the point, I think allowing him to play in a professional competitive tournament is even worse than unbanning him. As I've noted many times in the past zeroql for example was unbanned, but I still advise that no serious organization allow him to participate in their event.

I don't feel that players who play in competition and have been caught cheating, should be allowed to potentially win money. I think they've lost that right the moment they cheated.

I'd love to have a parole system added that allowed cheaters a path towards redemption, but I don't think that should involve letting them win money that is up for grabs by community members who have chosen the right path of playing legit.

I can have a personal opinion and still choose to listen to poll results that may not match my opinion.

I don't think zhu will be unbanned and allowed to play because of the poll, despite the possibility of following it if you want to:

1.- The decision is solely yours and the poll isn't mandatory.

2.- Your personal opinion is to not unban him (been for the past two years) and in any case refuse allowing him to play at competitions (replied to post). The poll is about both points.

3.- In the only known case of a personality getting unbanned it was because of your personal opinion, completely against what the community thought at that point (zeroql was at least three times the offender zhu was), which is the opposite of your first paragraph about following the poll.

4.- The poll isn't as clear as the general opinion in zeroql's case. With zhu it is 56 to 44%, whereas with zeroql I don't remember there was a poll but had there been one the results would have been clear, lets say 25 to 75%..

I'm writing this so zhu doesn't get his hopes up. I think he should just do what other former cheaters do, which is circumventing the ban and not cheat again. That allows him to play pubs and competitions, doesn't hurt anyone and doesn't hurt the game as a whole, though it means not being public about what his new alias is.

With zhu it is 56 to 44%
Correction: 108 players voted "yes".

There's multitude of ESR users like myself who ignore this poll to show how we don't appreciate even joking about unbanning cheaters.

There's multitude of QL players who never visit ESR but have very strong opinion on cheaters.

Real life elections/referendums/citizen petitions always have minimum turnout requirement for this reason. What's the turnout here? 0,1% of active QL players? Laughable :)

(By a funny coincidence, Warsaw had a vote to abolish our president last weekend and we've also "voted" by not attending so the minimum turnout wasn't met.)

The "multitude ESR users whoi ignore this poll" is not applicable in this case. This poll is quite representative of this small site that includes the global quake community, with 182 votes.
http://www.esreality.com/?a=polls

"The multitude of QL players who never visit ESR" will not know about zhu's unban, therefore don't care. Same happens with voting map pools and best fragmovie of the year.

99.9% of players won't be affected by the decision, which makes it different than real life elections in which everyone is even if they don't vote. That means in zhu's case there isn't a minimum votes requirement.

The thing is it takes Armstrong to have cheated his whole career while robbing the Tour de France titles off potentially other legit riders to get permbanned. Cyclism is much more professionally framed and has strong entities which try and vote for impartial and somewhat right (in terms of justice) decisions.

Quake isn't as big as cyclism and even if zhu had been cheating to win 2 DH's, 3 Quakecon and 1 IEM, it would still not be as big a deal as cheating in a sport such as cyclism.

My point is, not every cheater in cyclism gets permabanned from competing. It took a 5 (?) times winner of Tour de France cheating his whole career to see him banned permanently from competition, and that happened when his career was over anyway...

I think everybody deserves a second chance. I'm not going along those who have this very controversial opinion that those who have cheated once and have been caught are more inclined to cheat again. Quite the opposite in my opinion. Those who have been caught are more likely to not reiterate unless they have no self-esteem or enjoy beeing rejected to the point of masochism.

WHAT IF

hey. i don't disagree with you about competition, and it's great that you voted about how you feel and point out that it doesn't necessarily sway your behavior as ql team member.

i just want to say that i thought it would be fun to see zhu practice before dreamhack, stream actively, and, even if he's not permitted to play in the tournament, to at least be in practiced form to play games with high level players (edit: on lan). the point was: give him time to practice, give the community something to talk about and a way to form their own personal expectations, and then let this thing work itself out with all the people paying attention, waiting for their expectations to be tested. it's kind of like a tv show, except it's a real person who wants the attention, and a game that can benefit from somebody with personality giving it free advertisement on youtube. :)

[23:10] <Zhu> its like some magic u know

[23:14] <Zhu> being away from quake made me realised how much i really loved it
[23:14] <brandan> i think it would be funny
[23:14] <Zhu> and its not the same with any other game
[23:15] <brandan> if you did get unbanned
[23:15] <brandan> and cheated again
[23:15] <brandan> tbh

These are the reasons why Zhu did get so many yes votes in this poll.

1. Because of what happend with zeroql
2. He is actually really good at the game
3. Because of his strong personality causing alot of drama and funny stuff.

A solution could be to allow him to compete at dreamhack, and at dreamhack only, without unbanning him;
Also not allowing him to receive moneys, instead redistributing those moneys to other players etc..
I think he'd still be willing to play.

A solution would be him streaming his suicide in a very dramatic way and consequently putting quakelive into the map by the media showing it all over the world.

That would make him famous aswell which would be an achievement for such an attention whore, since he could spend all his life playing and wouldn't achieve such status, due to lack of natural talent and damaged braincells.

So if you really love the game Zhu, do it please, for us and for quake!

I feel like he could probably be unbanned by now if it weren't for his fantastic douchery and whining - usually that shouldn't affect a judgement on ban/unban, but after so much douche/whine for so long, I think that's all that's really in debate now.

That being said, cheating is SO FREAKING DUMB and pointless that I feel like if you do it, you deserve to be banned for life. Go play Q3 if you really need a Quake fix, Zhu.
