I got it in my head to play Quake again and remembered I used to bum around this place constantly back then. Last time I played was circa 2013 probably I think. What'd I miss?

Is like QL still ass but the only place anyone plays anyway? Is Q3 still 12 dudes on IRC? Does that one brain damaged english dude still rant about Q4 and militia every other day? Did cooller get conscripted to fight in Ukraine and, if so, is rapha planning a daring and romantic rescue mission? Someone fill me in here. I heard czm solved math finally.

I did hop on QL and play a few duels and I actually won all of them instead of getting stomped 20-0 so obviously someone went and fucked something up somewhere because that's never been a thing before.

250 FPS QL League returns with a second season!

The league will run for two months, starting on April 12, 2025. There will be a lot of interesting matches for the total prize pool 3,500$ by EGB. They also provide an opportunity to place bets on each match. So you can even earn a little money if you know the players well enough.

The league will start with four qualifying tournaments for everyone. First and second places will advance to the main part, where they will play with 8 invited players in a round-robin system. The top four players will compete in the super final for an additional prize.

The fate of the next seasons depends on your support: reposts, views, reactions, comments, and bets. So don't let us down!

I made Quake Strike, which is a combination between Quake3 and Counter Strike mechanics, which you can play versus your friends if they are skilled at fps players but not so good at Quake, given increased weapon damage, movement hinder if you wear too much armor, increased gauntlet damage based on the scarcity of player's health (the lesser health you have, the bigger the damage), increased lightning damage versus armored opponents, bc electricity versus iron, weapon and items spawn increased to 30 s and more, like in Quake2, to strategize more, and so on.

Gonna set a server online as well at a later time.


The code have only been tested versus bots, their code have not been modified though, yet. It should work ok with players though.

Magnetic keyboard (No comments)

Anyone have any experience with these type of keyboards? Im interested because of the instant activation and deactivation that you can configure.. im thinking about getting one to be able to play defrag and jump with the spacebar like im used to after so many years. I just cant get myself to jump with mouse2 and i think its a bad option for all other quakes as it hinders your aiming.
Please post some suggestions which one to get

So whats the mouse to get nowadays? 1000hz, no smoothing and no accel or other processing interfering.. no negative/positive accel when doing fast motions and a high malfunctioning speed.. quality switches that are responsive and fast.. thats what im looking for in a mouse if anyone has any suggestions based on those criteria

20 min timelimit, 30sec respawn, 50 mg ammo (if 5dmg per bullet, 100 if 3 or 4 dmg per bullet) and weapon dropping.. and remove cripple effect on mg, lg and plasma

Has it occured to you, that people may prefer the q3 settings not because they are used to it but because these settings proofed to maximise the competitive aspect of tdm?

ql tdm as it is now is complete shit and doesn't have much to do with tdm anymore.

I think TDM should be like this:

q3 ammo system
4 mg damage, 50 - 75 mg ammo
20 min timelimit
weaponrespawn 30
weapondrop

there would be (de facto is) a standard for q3, and that is cpma. if us people were less pathetic it would have been widely and way earlier accepted than it already is, but such is life it seems. seeing as this community failed to agree on a standard, maybe it's a better approach to make the ones ultimately in charge (id) get it right now, and then have the sheep (the community) follow it. turns out this community eats anything if only it is fed to them by the right hand.

nobody. if id suddenly said ok we are going to have q3 tdm settings not a single player is gonna stop playing. the fact that the community went from vq3 to ql even when it was in closed beta shows you who sets the tone. vq3ers are sheep plain and simple. and loud annoying whiney sheep at that.

You really don't get it

This doesn't have anything to do with q3, ppl are not complaining because its not q3, they are complaining because the weaponrespawntime removes most of the "TEAM" from fucking TEAMdeathmatch. What for did they add weapondrop if everyone can have every weapon after one minute anyway.

It doesn't even have to be 30 sec. 20-25 would prolly be fine as well. For the timelimit 16 would already be better, so you can actually use the last powerups.

You are prolly also one of those guys that want to play dm20 in tdm, a freaking 2 room map which has a teleporter on both sides that leads to the other room...

I'd rather see a complete re-working of Q3/QL TDM to be honest. It needs more focus and structure than it does currently and it could all go hand-in-hand with a new map pool (So we don't have to play dm6/7 for another twenty years).

I'd be fine with that as well, but the state it is in right now is nothing short of a joke. And since id doesn't really give a shit about competitive tdm (i have seen at least 2 id employees say so) a reworked tdm mode is also very unlikely.

I really couldn't give a shit about QL at the moment, I find duel and CA boring, CTF is slightly better I guess but TDM is the one mode I actually really enjoy and they've destroyed it for no good reason.

because thats not how it turns out, what really happens is everyone rushing the main areas of the map with weapons, making it 15 minutes of brainless fulltime rush, and if one team tries not to play like that they lose for certain unless the other team is really shit.

Kinda like dm7 in q3, just that instead of cessing with mg, now its cessing with all weapons. Its still cess tho.

And they are asking for the times of q3 because we know that those work.

Wait, what?

Splitting the community into different games only kills QL even faster than it's already dying. Remember, if QL isn't a great success, it goes under. When it dies, the QL players who don't quit and who want QL settings in Q3 will only split what little community is left.

I presented both a hits result and a search result. Searches can help to give you an idea how the game is progressing, and how many new players are being introduced to the game. If nothing else, you can use the graph to deduce that QL is now EXACTLY in line with the activity curve of Q3.

You can believe id's numbers if you want, but you'll have to face facts when they shut QL down due to inactivity.

If ID decided that ql tdm is gonna have 12 second weapon respawn then shouldn't we all be accepting it. It seems most people just want ql to be q3 but the problem is. Whats their idea of q3. What bits and pieces of q3 should be converted over to ql. As long as it fits in with their idea of what q3 should be then yes its ok but if not then its the same old "QL ISN'T Q3!!!".

theres nothing wrong with a lower weaponrespawn time in tdm, you just need to make other adjustments to make it work properly.(lower mg damage, remove weapdrop, stronger armors etc.). I like the idea really, but i think there should be done some testing with different values, like how does 15 work with no weapdrop, and lower mg damage for example, could give a refreshing boost while keeping the interest for the newbies. Cause face it, new players don't want to run around without a weapon. And having different settings in Clanbase than on the normal servers is only gonna be a source of annoyance to everyone.
