Holy SHIT my 2233rz is finally fucking dying as we speak. It was making a noise a couple months ago, did some tweaking with the settings and managed to get rid of the noise by adjusting intensity or something else, now the noise is back, the colors went cold as fuck, like everything is blueish, then I now adjusted it again to "warm" settings to compensate, but the noise doesn't stop, it's an high pitched subtle noise that makes my head hurt, I can feel the colors deteiorating by the second. This is my only monitor so I need to buy one before it dies

What one can I buy? I still play Quake so I want one with low input lag and at least 120hz.

Props for still sporting one of the pioneering 120hz consumer level displays.

Sure it might be outdated in terms of current gen displays, it may lack the finesse in design and performance, but it's the one of those things that simply work and work well.

The 120hz smoothness is why I went from CRT to 2233rz, but honestly, I remember being in shock at how shitty the colors were.

The blacks specially, playing doom 3 sucked on this thnig compared to CRT.

The new high hz flat panels still suck?

Everything being bluish could be a cable problem. Try repluging the cable and even jiggle it a little to see if it helps. Also try a different cable if you have one

Isn't 240hz a meme? you need 240fps, i dont even get 240fps in QL due id fucking up the engine compared to q3.

Wrong. New id engine for QL is known to be dogshit. In huge maps in CA with 16+ players at once for example.

I've had my alienware aw2310 monitor for several years now and literally been bashing it around as luggage all over Australia and even has dents all over as well as being left on for so many months straight. Still works perfectly. Beast of a monitor.

UPDATE:

I was able to save it somehow, I changed the settings: brightness to 100, and it stopped screaming. Contrast to 58... looking decent, even tho I was used to not have it so bright. I guess the resistors or something are failing and since I set it to 100 brightness now its less stressed. I balanced the blue tone with changing RBG values... it will do for now, but I will need to get a replacement soon.

UPDATE2: This thing is officially dead. Screen goes black after 1 second, blue LED remains on...

I need a replacement. So what is the best monitor to play Quake 3 and QW at in 2017? (no CRT trolls etc)

And hopefully the colors aren't shit unlike the 2233rz.

To replace the 2233rz I bought Viewsonic XG2401. Colors are better, especially black. Eyes less tired.
