Now I'm not usually support a move against an organisation or mode of a game i support, but since there's no other way. why not.

CTF will be once again majoring TDM with the release of the best map ever, Spider's Crossing aka CP9.

Now with Clanbase not supporting CTF for a while now with poor support and a lack of interest, now made extra apparent with again not having a CTF Nationscup I'm hereby calling all players that truely support CTF to not play the TDM Nationscup.

Btw Dreamhack, take notes!

im thinking that cpma is a bad religion. no matter what others do cpma players (17 people) will stay elite and boycott quakelive until their death. but the good thing is, nobody cares what cpma players do.

its a joke that emerged during the painkiller cpl world tour 2005.

the joke being the large cash payout and always the same participants in every stop. and those participants also made out the whole competitive pk-community (joke-wise).

i.e
"shattering news for all 17 players of the pk tournament"

several posts similar to that were made in just about every painkiller thread.

clanbase has not this idiotic esport view as esl. its a league from players for players, if there are enough teams who play ctf, clanbase will make cups. im sure of it.

if people want a NC they can just run it as a hosted cup...if it proves a success then quake admins can push it for the next official NC (happened in ut2k4 before)

sounds like your pissed because your semi-good in ctf and shit in tdm. (: however, id welcome both modes next to each other with a lot of activity but those dreams have been destroyed a long time ago.

btw As a defender I find cp9 rather tedious.

ql tdm is really boring to watch. it's fun to play but is basically all aim.

qcon on spider crossings will be way more fun to watch. wouldn't be surprised if one of the tourneys this summer used pql either.

wish some of these mods actually like... made sense from a spectator point of view. impossible to know what's going on unless you've played the mod and know the map.

Try winning a CTF match with defenders that can't aim... You won't. TDM can be won with tactics. CTF can't.

CTF is the aim dependant mod.

that argument work the other way around, try winning a TDM game with players that can't aim.

Both modes require same kinds of skills, just used in slightly different ways.
I think that CTF requires more team work if played properly. But that's just my 2 cents.

As I said TDM teams with far inferior aim can beat a high aim team with solid tactics. In CTF it is much less likely because they won't be able to defend their own flag never mind get past the mid.

So CTF is more aim dependant. But hey it is an FPS there is nothing wrong with it requiring good aim, in fact it SHOULD be a key feature.

With solid teamwork, interceptions and good communication a solid CTF can beat a ctf team with better aim.
I agree with what you're saying about TDM though, I just think the same principle applies to CTF.

Examples of far worse aim might be hard to find, but a game like 4K vs fnatic is an example of the best teamplay team beating the best (by far) aim team. 4K definitely had weaker aim than a fnatic team consisting of from memory, deus, linkin, stermy and I can't remember if it was spartie or strenx as 4th. Was a good game anyway.

i think it's got more to do with the evolution of the netcode, lower pings, 125fps, people not just understanding movement but being great at it, etc in cpma vq3 and ql. honestly though in qw if your team doesn't organize and get or control that rl every 30 seconds, enjoy not having a gun for 20 minutes. ql just simply doesn't have items that important in comparison.

well id argue that with the evolution of net code, weapons like rail and lg are indeed that important in comparison (maybe not to the full extant but still) It differers from map too map, cmp4 is basically cess over lg for 20minutes,on dm20 its rail that dominates,..Maybe we could improve TDM teamplay by increasing weapon dmg a little bit even tho its easier to hit now with this netcode

Its very simple, Clanbase just dont have a supervisor and admins to run NC or EC for CTF.
So take the step up and signup as supervisor.... and dont go inacitve mid season like so
many others did before. Thats basicly why CTF has no support from CB.

QL seems to have a lot more new TDM maps than CTF or even duel. I wish people weren't such idiots and actually tried new things, instead of going in with a bias and coming out 5 minutes later with a hatred. It's so aggravating. Reflux is a good map, and PQL isn't any worse than VQL... all it needs is actual DOUBLE jumps and RAMP jumps.

CA is not a competition mode. The 3 competition modes are duel, tdm and ctf. Among them you can do popularity comparisons. Therefore, he has a point.

why cause a split between TDM and CTF by getting players to boycott?

I can't stand QL CTF, it's slow and painfully boring to watch one player stood in mid railing another one stood in base with 200 200 and 2 attackers attacking none stop in, wait for it... A, wait for it.. TDM style ;(

But even though I don't enjoy speccing CTF I'd never make a post suggesting people stop playing it, that just seems a bit childish. You're on par with the people who post.. JUST PLAY QUAKE3!!!

PQL duel is kind of fun! But that's probably just because I haven't played CPM for so long :(
