I haven't tried the Gamecons, but I've had Plantronics headsets before and they were nice.

I just had a look and the cheapest Sennheiser headset I found is the HD 201, I dont know if its any good but I would bet its alot better than the Plantronics GameCom 367, and its only £15.36.

I am using the HD 201. I haven't had any expensive headphones to compare them with but IMO they're perfect for quake. Also they're fairly indestructable.

I've tripped over the cable so many times causing it to move the stereo to which the headphones are connected to instead of unplugging themselves. And that cable is so thin too.

Get the plantronics, plain and simple.

Best bang for the buck. Have them for almost 2 years now no defects, fairly sturdy imo.

Also they are mid rangey, perfect for ql, footsteps, screams etc are clear. I also had HD 201, with them on all you hear are rocket explosions and their boomy bass. 201 is better for everything else tbh, but for quake go with 367

Since I dont really listen to music or watch movies and use headphones only for quake, plantronics is the way to go for me.

get a proper headphone for atleast 40-60€ (made by a company focusing on audio not gaming) and a clip-on mic like the one made by zalmann, it will be so much better for quake and anything else aswell.

Really dont have the money, mostly due to my age and my occupation etc :P

Go to a car boot sale and buy a set. When you have some money to spend come and ask this question again. Honestly for that amount of money I would look for second hand option rather than brand new.

Then maybe suggest me some second hand shit from ebay :)

Plantronics Gamecom (closed or open) are awesome for their price. Good micro, excellent sound for gaming (low bass and very clear sound so you can hear everything even in battles), comfortable to wear. You just can't go wrong with them.

Thanks, I think I might go with the plantronics then. Say if I play in a room with the TV on and I use the mic, would it cancel out the noise of the TV ?

I think you will need to setup proper voice activation in voIP application you use.

How are the 595? What do you say about the mids and especially the highs? As for good hifi headphones, I'm going to get the AKG K 701 when I'm liquid enough.

if you're looking for a cheap headphone with focus on the sound, you should get some of the superlux products.

i'm using the hd662 as my secondary headphones, but they're almost equal in soundquality to my akg 701s.

downside is the first day of using could probably lead to a lil headache, cause of it's tightness (ive a vo0ish head) and the overall buildquality isnt the best. soundquality is very good after some burning, but very NEUTRAL since it's a monitoring hp. highs crisp, gets pretty low, mids okay.
i think they should be the affordable standard for people that don't want to deal with preamps etc..

the hd669 just came out and is also closed, so maybe you'll give them a try. (like 29€)
