Are there any plans on new maps for the very popular CPMA CTF in light of the mappers inactivity, a competition perhaps, since all the maps that come with it, apart from cpmctf3, are not being played?

Maybe. ;)

Are there any plans on improving the very out-dated UI?

The Q3 UI was outdated even when Q3 was new. :P
Yeah, I expect it'll look a lot better before long...

What is the status of NTF mode?

Funnily enough, we were talking about it just the other day. IMO it's something that SHOULD be great, but simply isn't. What CPMA ships with is very much a rough draft, and my hope was always that some subgroup would pounce on it, refine the classes, and look at ways to improve it. That never happened, and we don't really have the time to
drive its development the way we did 1v1 and TDM, so although we haven't forgotten about it, it's definitely languishing ATM.

What's planned for the future of CPM and/or CPMA short-term and long-term?

We'll see. :)

Some short questions!
- Favourite oldschool game of CPM?

Pretty much anything with Apheleon when he was at the top of his game.

- Favourite newschool(last year or so) game of CPM?
Probably rat/dziku on CPM24, though koddy's had some great showcases too.

- Favourite VQ3 game if there is one?
:)
Something with Makaveli from the very early days, when VQ3 was actually exciting. Daler was usually fun to watch too.

VQ3 has two major problems: you insist on playing mediocre or even flat-out bad maps just because they're familiar; and the "winning" strategies, BECAUSE those maps are so bad, are +back; or mindless pattern-looping; or having 2% better RG than the opponent" - all the things that drain the life out of the game. GET SOME NEW MAPS DAMMIT!

There were games in the GGL minicomp YESTERDAY that were far more entertaining that anything that happened at ESWC/etc two years ago: the only difference is they won't be trumpeted as "GRATEST GAEM EVAH" by fanboys who can't bring themselves to admit that someone getting a 1-0 lead on ZTN and then running away for 14 minutes isn't "strategic brilliance", it's tedium.

- Dates in the gaming calendar you are looking forward to?
Until last week, HeffaLAN. :(

- What FPS have you enjoyed the most since Quake 3?
CPM. :)

- Favorite BSD flavor?
Open. Quality > *. All BSD is good BSD though. :P

- Colbert or Stewart?
Oof - that's a tough one. I'll go with Stewart, since I saw him in NY years ago, and he's proven he can stay funny: Colbert's good, but his shtick may get old before too much longer.

Shout outs?

The people in the community who make the effort worthwhile; rat for STILL being The Master; and the CPL for having the balls and brains to bring Q3 back.

I also thank arQon for keeping Q3 alive and kicking, being The Mod Master, having the balls to bring it down the way he does and answering my annoying questions =)
