zerox vs. Vo0 [fixture]

Vo0 was less than motivated in the last game vs. zerox's teamate silas, but in the end he got what he wanted even if he was fooling around. This time he should really go into the game concentrated since his opponent is a better dueller and sports a more defensive style. Vo0 can take this 2:0 but he needs to play seriously.

apheleon vs. pl1 [fixture]

Few expected aph would make it that far, seeing as he was out of shape in the first rounds. Lucky for him, his opponents weren't very hard and aph didn't let the opportunity slip. In this game he's facing one of the best players from Poland. Pl1 is smart with good aim but his ping will be prohibiting on the NYC server. I'm not entirely sure but I think the 3rd map will be played on Lazery, which means he has the advantage. 2:1 for pl1

koddy vs. rat [fixture]

I was planning on starting this prediction by introducing rat but then I remembered that pretty much everyone know who he is so I'll introduce koddy instead. I remember when koddy was a very average player mainly interested in duels. In just one year however, his skill increased exponentially and he's now one of the best CPMA players in the world. Fast, aggressive, deadly aim, he's the complete package.

In this game however his opponent is not only a legend but a real monster in terms of intelligent play. Rat's aim is nowhere near as good as koddy's at the moment but does he need it? Koddy choked in his match vs. griffin and despite his vastly superior aim the game was close in the end. Should this happen in this match, rat won't let it go to waste. Rat wins 2:1.

dziku vs. zoom [fixture]

What a game this is going to be. Dziku, one of the best Polish duellers takes on *the* best Polish dueller zoom. This is hardly the first time these two will meet each other in a tournament. In fact, both the last two times they played it was again in the semi-finals round, in the PQ.de weekend Cup and the Gliwice 2005 Lan. Zoom emerged victorious on both occasions but the matches were close and very exciting.

Expect dziku to play defensively, especially when not in control, and push his spawnfragging as much as possible when given the chance. That RG of his is deadly. On the other hand, zoom will just play agressively no matter if he's in control or not :-> His aim is not as good as it used to be but if the guy managed to beat Vo0 in that shape, you know he's good. I suppose, no matter how long you've been away, the map tactics and spawnfragging patterns stay etched in your brain. Watch out for the trademark LG to RL combo. Zoom 2:0.

xero vs. apheleon [fixture]

Xero put up a nice fight vs. koddy a few days ago but this won't stop apheleon from beating him with a convincing 2:0. He is a much better player with tons more experience and since they will both be playing from the East Coast, pings will be even.

hoens vs. pl1 [1:2]

LuGia vs. zerox [fixture]

LuGia takes on German powerhouse zerox in an exciting series of matches. Both players have superb aim and love to use the LG. Zerox is the better dueller, both in terms of strategy and experience and should have no trouble taking this 2:0. My only concern is if cpm24 is picked as I don't know how good zerox is on that map.

Vo0 vs. silas [2:0]

Despite showcasing awesome aim and movement, Vo0 was knocked down to the Losers Bracket by Polish CPMA legend zoom. I believe Vo0 played too aggressively when the score was 19-19 on cpm1a and it cost him the game. It's certain that Vo0 is more than eager to reach the final even from the lower bracket and frankly I don't see anyone but the very best players standing in his way. Silas is good but not good enough to stop him. Vo0 2:0.

Celerity vs. Criogenix [fixture] 22 CET

Celerity beat their American opponents last week and secured a place in the semis. They are playing quite good for a mix team but this time they face one of the favorites for this cup, the very strong CTF division of Criogenix. Unless Celerity have a few aces up their sleeves, cgx will win this 2:0. Maybe Celerity can take cpmctf2? We will have to see.

noobs anonymous vs. nametaken [fixture] 19 CET

This one is probably the most exciting match of the day as both nametaken and na are equally matched. Ix and trippy, half of the nametaken team, were a vital part of the LOLBARN CTF division, one of the best CTF teams in CPMA. Na have always been strong in CTF even before their TDM days. Powered by strong aimers such as zerox and Massman, their defence will be a tough nut to crack. This game is rather hard to predict to be honest but if I was being threatened with a gun I'd say na take a close 2:0.

Dziku has been consistent in his performance so far in this cup but then again he hasn't had much opposition yet. LuGia comes from an impressive although very close win over NA's best player in this cup, vamp1re. LuGia has the aiming skills but his map control is still just average. Dziku is not as an impressive aimer but he has tons more experience than his opponent. I believe dziku is going to take this but I wouldn't rule out 1 map going to LuGia

koddy vs. xero [fixture]

Number 1 seed koddy faces xero of Canada. Not only is koddy one of the top players in this cup, but xero is mainly a CTF player and not a dueller. If this ends up anything else than 2:0, you know the game's been fixed.

hoens vs. rat [1:2]

Vo0 vs. zoom [fixture]

Both players are CPMA legends. Vo0 doesn't really need an introduction. Second only to rat back in the day, he was one of the best players to ever grace this game. His tradermark all-attacking 'ownage' style and quick movement has now reached a higher level. Influenced by PK's constant moving around he's more fluid than ever.
Zoom, a legend in his own right, has been winning all the Polish tournaments since he was 15 years old. His aim used to be deadly to the point where he didn't care about items. A long break in Q4 has seriously affected him however, so he will have to try very hard to beat his opponent this time. From the few recent demos I've watched, I doubt that he can do it, nevertheless these will be close matches. Vo0 wins this 2:0.

vamp1re vs. pl1 [fixture]

For those of you who aren't aware of the cup's rules, the 3rd match is played on the server where there's less ping difference between the two players. In this case, this means that the 3rd map will be played on the Lazery servers in the UK, where vamp pings 87 and pl1 57 thus making the latter, the favorite. That is, if he was playing like a favorite. Pl1 however, has made a series of poor appearances in this cup and has underperformed in his previous matches. This will be an even battle and unless pl1 really want this win, I don't see him taking it. vamp1re 2:1.

zerox vs. nekon [2:0]

Not much to say about this all German matchup. Zerox is a good dueller and star player of the TDM and CTF teams of noobs anonymous. Nekon is a very good TDM/CTF player but he hasn't been very active lately. Furthermore, his duelling experience is rather limited. If zerox doesnt take this 2:0 I'll eat my hat.

GNZ vs. apheleon [0:2]

GNZ is a Swedish dueller who has been around for a long time. Apheleon doesn't need an introduction, he's one of the legends of CPMA with 2 Challenges titles under his belt. This isn't 2002 though and aph has been inactive for a very long time. GNZ on the other hand, has been playing often. What this means is that this match will be close. I suppose apheleon is going to pick cpm15 to play in Europe as he is very good on that map. GNZ will prolly pick cpm3a or 22 to play on the NYC server. I think aph will take this 2:1.

sivek vs. silas [fixture]

Sivek is one of these players who are very annoying to play against. Calculated moves, no unecessary risks and frequent +back. The thing is, he gets the job done and that is winning matches. Silas is a decent dueller with great aim and nice movement. This, however will be more of a mind/tactics game and Silas should choose carefully when's he's going to push for more frags and when he'll play more conservative. Sivek had a good game vs. Vo0 on cpm3a so this will be close. Silas to win 2:1

What can I say about these guys. Zoom is a legend in Polish CPMA being the #1 player in all the LAN tournaments. Online, he's not as effective but still a seriously good player. He's been inactive for a long time though, so we'll have to see how much of his old mad rushing skill he can recover for this game.

Jon is another top5 player who is in great shape these days. Contrary to zoomer he is defensive, playing a very smart game coupled with the trademark Polish LG.

All options are open for this one but I believe it's going to be 2:1 for jon4than.

snapcase vs. xero [fixture]

Swedish veteran snapcase returns to CPMA after a long break in PK and WoW. He will be fighting versus xero, another veteran CPMA player playing from Canada. Snapcase may be more rusty than xero but I believe his skill can overcome this and take it 2:0.

apheleon vs. yer/flag/157.gif> mistral [fixture]

Apheleon looked rusty in his games vs. Vo0 so he ended up in the lower bracket. Now he has to beat N. Irish player mistral in order to continue. Mistral has gone a long way since he first started playing but I don't believe that's enough to beat the 2 times champion apheleon. Aph 2:0

marker vs. pl1 [fixture]

Not only marker lost to dziku, he now has to face the other top Polish dueller, pl1, in the LB. His performance vs. dziku was impressive, so maybe he can cause an upset this time? Logic says 2:0 for pl1, marker, however told me it's gonna be 2:1 for him :D

griffin vs. silas [fixture]

Another quality match. Silas is well known in the CPMA community playing an important role in na's success in the TDM and CTF scenes. A good dueller with impressive aim, he takes on Canadian Quake4 player griffin. Griffin played an amazing game vs. #1 seed koddy last week so it will be interesting to see if he can pull a high ping victory this time. Both players are likely to play aggressively so expect this to be very exciting. Somehow I don't see Silas messing up his game like koddy did so: Silas to win 2:1

pejnis: Thats correct, now dziku and his army can take bloody revenge from noobs =)
MaJunior: Certain things have changed since the first match though. The previously undefeated na lost to seXi and was forced into the LB. TS' lineup has also changed to its original form, with the return of mega-dueller pod1 and the addition of mega-dueller2 , jon4athan.
pejnis: I haven't seen TS play TDM since the LB semi-final versus cgx... They are still active, playing a lot of duels in the CPM Masters Cup, but as we all know TDM is bit different than duels. You have to share weapons and armors with your teammates.
MaJunior: na haven't played either as far as I know, in fact most players on both teams have been busy in the CPM Masters Cup.
pejn: Dziku, pl1, jon and pod1 will be playing from some 'murzynskiej caffe' (c). Dziku's gonna be a tough opponent, especially in 1v1 situations.

MaJunior: Did you notice any differences when you last played vs. ts?
pejn: There was a ray of hope for us to win that match but TS covered powerups pretty solid, especially on cpm21.
MaJunior: What about cpm27? It seems to be the map of choice for both na and ts.
pejn: After crazy dziku quadruns we were devastated. I do think na is gonna pick cpm27 though, cause they feel very strong on it.
MaJunior: Last time the replacement players really impacted ts' performance on that map, so we'll have to see what the full lineup can do this time.
pejn: I predict that TS will pick one of the oldschool, tidy and spawnraping map like cpm4a/nodm18. The hardest thing to predict is the final score =) After both teams' mappick it's gonna be 1:1 !!

MaJunior: First match this round, is the WB final. na reached here rather easily and they're the clear favorite. Good lineup, tactics, in fact I don't have anything to add that I haven't said before.
koddy: na rapes!! We have many strong players (like the Germans), and we have mastered most of the maps. (TBH I don't know a map we couldn't do well in :) However, I'd say this match will be our toughest yet.
MaJunior: I was timing for cgx in their match vs seXi so I've seen first hand what sinbad and co can do. I was a little surprised by their weak start but if you watch their comeback you'll see this isn't an average team. They recognized their weakness mid-game and changed their tactics to alleviate that weakness. In the end it paid off. There's no place for weak starts in this game however, they'll have to do their best from the beginning if they want to win.
koddy: seXi's a real threat to na... or atleast it HAS been, in the past pcw's and tourneys. I've observed most of the players in seXi's lineup so I know who we are up against. seXi consists of many DMG-sluts and I think this will be their biggest weakness (not concentrating on the teamplay enough...).
MaJunior: I predict na will take this 2:0, Maps: cpm27 (na), cpm4a (seXi)
koddy: 2:0 ez for na... but to be honest, I think seXi's going to take that cpm4a home, so 2:1 for na :), just this one time!

twoja stara vs. lamma correction -:-

MaJunior: ts have suffered a major blow with the absence of pod1 and snapcase. The loss to na brought them to the LB, where they face lamma correction. I don't rate lc much, but pl1 told me that if they don't find some good replacement players this match will be hard. I still think that dziku and pl1 alone are enough to overcome lc.
koddy: The rest of ts isn't that bad... really, it's just pl1 and dziku standing out because they run a lot into fights (atleast imo). If ts can't hold the armours and quads they won't win by ffa'ing, or will they? :)
MaJunior: lc come from a 1-map victory over pequod! so they haven't been playing much. Their opponent is far more difficult this time, so they will need to tighten up their teamplay if they wish to succeed. I don't think they're as dedicated though.
koddy: Oh well... good luck to lc then! Hope they do everything they can, there is still hope!

twoja stara vs. noobs anonymous 0:2

MaJunior: We begin with ts vs. na. This is the mother of all matches if you ask me, some kind of early final. Noobs have a solid lineup, with 1v1 superstar koddy, aim-monsters zerox and silas and all around teamplayers like nip, massman and s1k. What I like best about this team though, is that they tend to take games a bit more seriously than the others and despite having great units, they still go for the more intelligent style of play, using tactics and careful item timing.
bomba: na vs. ts should be a great game. Both teams have high class players but in the end na should win because in their first lineup they just don't have any weak players. Just a reliable team.
MaJunior: As mentioned in the previous article, the players in ts are of such high caliber that they manage to overcome their opponents just by utilizing their personal skill. However, ts have lost two of its most important members, pod1 and snapcase and it's obvious that pl1 and dziku alone can't handle four opponents, evenso when these four are noobs anonymous. Their full lineup for the match still remains a mystery, but even if they do find two quality substitutes, it's going to be very tough to counter a clan that values teamplay and also has very skilled players, like na.
bomba: If ts want to win, they have to reach the top of their skills. It's gonna be a hard game for them, even if ts do get two skilled players - it's hard to get new clan m8s to work together as a team.
MaJunior: 2:0 for na. Maps: cpm27 (na), ospdm5a (ts)

Criogenix vs. seXi 0:2

MaJunior: It's obvious that cgx without Trippy are nothing. Aha, no just j/k, cgx have skilled individual players but their teamplay just isn't working at the moment. Sometimes they start off well, everything goes according to plan and they do well. If however, the other team steals control and launches a comeback, cgx are unable to stop it and their teamplay breaks down.
bomba: Junior you're wrong... we're nothing without marker ! He's kind of a cgx dark horse, we're holding him in cage for 2 months, in a dark cellar. I think it's high time we unleashed THE MONSTER. To be honest, it will be a head to head game and I think the teamwork problems are a result of the teamspek coaching. It's hard for us to get accustomed to new things like that.
MaJunior: seXi are a team that's been playing together for a long time. Roboty players sinbad and scoop play well every time and if you add vafel to the mix you have a very skilled group of intelligent TDM-oriented players. I think this is going to be a battle of teamplay, seeing as the differences in individual skill are not big. If cgx can focus and improve their teamplay, this might be a close match. If they only try to rely on their individual skills and leave teamplay just for powerup rushes, then they will lose.
bomba: cgx are prepared for this kind of oponents, we are gonna face them. Close games? Yes, but cgx is going to win it with their "luck skillz", like midair rockets throughout the whole map ;)

MaJunior: To be honest I have underestimated cOd a bit, but after watching their games versus ts I think they are a very strong team. It's still mostly WAP of course, but man, is he a good player or what.
bomba: WAP is represents a kinda careful game style, he makes use of his braincells and attacks possitions only when he has to (usualy ends with good net). On the other side, eu is powered by good players like Terr (old school Polish player) and our pickup m8 ix. It will be an interesting game.
MaJunior: eu faced the big dogs of na last week, so they will have an easier night this time. However, I don't think they have what it takes to beat cOd's more intelligent game style and I haven't seen them practicing at all either.

Criogenix vs. lamma correction

pejn: I think that cgx had a very easy group, because dziad unsigned dioxide from the league and maertz was too lazy to play CPMA :( New clans such as 'clan noob' and 'shaft' were not a challenge.
MaJunior: Yes, so far cgx have had an easy time. They were in the easiest group and their inexperienced opponents they could beat with one hand (you know where the other would be xD). This could become a dangerous trap, as they now face an opponent that's much more skilled than their group members. I suppose cgx are aware of that because i've seen them practice on many occasions.

pejn: On the other hand, lamma correction is not the same team that won the ESL Cup in 2005 but they haven't forgotten how to play! Now cgx have solid lineup with bomba, krym, blk or trippy and fluid. I think we can beat them, but not easily ;)
MaJunior: lc is one of the oldest Polish clans, with numerous wins in the past. Granted, the lineup has changed, but they were stong in the group stages, losing two maps to seXi and one very close map to siR. This is the matchup to watch out for in this stage, especially if supahstar roboty player Jon4than plays for lc.

pejn: cgx 2:0. Maps: cpm18r (cgx), cpm4a (lc)
MaJunior: cgx 2-1. Maps: cpm21 (cgx), nodm18/q3dm14tmp (lc)
*PS. I was told by a source I can't disclose, that pejn is torn between marker and trippy for the starting lineup xD

seXi vs. pequod!

MaJunior: seXi have been playing well in all their games which is a good thing, considering their group was probably the hardest in competition. Apart from that sloppy game on cpm27, sinbad and one-man team vafel have been looking very strong.
pejn: seXi defeated all their opponents in their group! Nice matches against lc and siR (especiallly on cpm27!). seXi with sinbad and scoop are very strong and solid with vafel are playing good TDM too.

MaJunior: Pequod! had an easy time in their group, as most clans in it (apart from cgx) were very new. Pequod! themselves are a new clan too, but their members have been around more compared to the others in their group and are more experienced. However, that's where it ends for pequod! and they must hope the scores aren't too high :)
pejn: Pequod! is one of those 'quick clans' for me, they play only in league, never saw them practice.

MaJunior: seXi wins 2:0 ez style. Maps: cpm4a (seXi), cpm21 (pequod!)

MaJunior: na finished first in group Z without meeting any real resistance, since flaMasters underperformed and c0d's enthusiasm was not enough to stop them.
pejn: I think that na are gonna win. Silas is in good shape now and he's is the n1 for me in na. Him with koddy, zerox, nip and MassMan are a really solid team.

MaJunior: On the other hand, eu finished 2nd in group HWDP but haven't really impressed me with their perfomance, despite them fielding experienced players in their lineup.
pejn: eu have quite the fresh lineup with excellent players, like terr and ix.

MaJunior: I expect an easy 2:0 for na. Maps: cpm27 (na), cpm4a (eu)

twoja stara vs. Crew of Destruction

MaJunior: The players in ts are some of the best duellers in the CPMA world today and their skills are unmatched. Hence, they usually go for the FFA style, without paying so much attention to strategy. The current status of the CPMA TDM world sadly favors such tactics, since most of the teams don't work on their strategy at all. In the past, hard-working teams like Abuse, had triumphed over skilled-FFAing clans but teams of that caliber are extinct now.
pejn: Pod1 won't be playing for ts, thats for sure. Dziku, pl1 and snapcase will have to handle c0d.

MaJunior: c0d have had a great run, with WAP being unstoppable in the group stage. They are also one of the more 'thinking' teams in this tournament, (watch out for cpm21 tactics ;D) but I don't believe WAP alone (even with some help from ajss) can handle ts.
pejn: I think this will be a tie! Overtime will be very exciting and I predict a 2:1 for ts.

MaJunior: I predict 2:0 for ts, with cpm21 being closer. Maps: cpm27 (ts), cpm21 (WAP...err I mean cOd xD).
