need 4 on your reservoir, 2 top, 2 bottom, for real overclocking cooling

need 4 for most ATX 140mm system fan's, + atleast 2 for RAM cooler, unless your DDR4, then you need 2 RAM coolers which will have 4 fan's

getting 4 sticks to run at 2133mhz with a AMD 8300, using 1.96v would'nt last to long without the RAM cooler, when under load and running prime95

without PWM and the system header on the motherboard, you will need headphones just to sit next to your PC and use your desktop

I would be cautious to run 4 fans off a single mobo header. I dont think all boards will be designed to push that much current out of the fan header. Run it off molex would be fine.

Personally I run all my fans @ 5v for nice low volume air flow.

Most molex fans run off the 12v (yellow/black)

Take a molex extension cable and rewire it so the 5v side comes over in place of the 12v side then daisy chain more fans to it. Just dont be stupid and plug something other than a fan into it.

I think if any OC is fan dependant its a failed overclock. Better to get 80% OC at stock voltage that to burn the shit out of stuff for that extra 20%

you get DC 12v * amp / 4 fans

fan's can draw power, they don't have any capacitor's, they use what they are given

in physic's, 4 fan's running at quarter speed cooling both sides, would still be cooler then 2 fans both at half speed cooling a single side

my brain is made for physic's, to be most efficient you would need 2 different fan type's with large and small blades

Thanks port. Today I learn something

( volts * amp ) = watt's

12v * 0.6 amp = 7.2 watts

you would have to ask the motherboard manufactuer for max amp's the PWM header's are, they are not in the manual or spec's, or buy a multimeter

LOL in my defence I do know the forumla. I studied in some simple electronics stuff when doing my IT cert.

The part that went over my head was that the fans would not be able to draw more current than what the fan headder is designed to put out.

this man stick's with gigabyte

https://www.gigabyte.com/us/mb/aorus/cooling

upto 2 amps

you would have 8 full speed Noctua NF-P14s REDUX 140mm on a single header as they only use 0.2A

+

4x maglev Corsair CO-9050044-WW ML140 £5.94 each when you buy 4 or more

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Corsair-CO-9050044...ctupt=true

works fine, when connected to a sys fan header on the motherboard

all nice and quiet at full speed, but it depends on your case, you might need some spacers between fan and the case, if honey comb grill makes it whine
