As if kids back then didnt rage like that. Its quite embarassing that you dont see the skill that Fortnite takes. But what can you expect from a guy who exclusively played dm6 in QL.

Because it was built on an engine that made the porting process easy.

I agree, as silly as Fortnite looks it has a lot of different mechanics smashed together (a lot of which are not all the different from quake mechanics) and complexity arises from that. If anything Fortnite is the best thing that could ever happen to arena FPS or Quake because it introduced the idea of "games don't have to be realistic" to a whole generation of kids. It's not really all that big of a leap from Fortnite to Quake at this point because Quake mechanics don't look all that alien anymore.

Good point, not to mention Epic Games (Fortnite game) is the company who copied Quake and build its own arena shooter Unreal Tournament.

thats a vaild point. still, i thought the same about Overwatch. But them 60 millions of ow players dont seem to be forming a line to play a quake. Maybe its becase its qc, not some AAA Quake 5 (with all that champs and stuff).

streaming in general is kinda mental, aint it?
(unless its not some chill and relaxed streaming as fazzito does <3)

because its like talking with yourself for hours. and the culture of streaming certainly approves this "rage" behavior, usually as fake as it is the vod above, because viewers love to see or hear the streamers emotions.

I have to agree that streaming in general is fucking weird. These kids now a days man I really don't grasp the concept... who the fuck donates money to some dude chugging redbull and eating doritos playing a video game, and watches said dude for hours along with others in chat talking about how funny said dude is. How is that more fun than just playing the damn video game yourself? It's even weirder to me than those guys who watch girls on streaming sites and pay them money to blow bubbles or some shit.
edit: If I ever catch my daughter donating any of my money to some fucking streaming kid there will be hell to pay :P

The sad thing is that last time I have played QC (when it was released on steam), it was exactly like that "If Quake was done today" video. Not funny at all, it hurts every time.

I played fortnite during its first week f2p release with a couple of noob friends and the servers were ofcourse packed with new ppl trying. We had some ok matches and shootouts. However coming from PUBG it really is just a kids game. There is no bushes to hide in, you cant even go prone etc, many many reasons why PUBG is much better in my opinion.

Then a few months later I decided to give it another go. Droped near the edge, made my way towards the centre of circle. I had to cross a river which had some rocks etc in it so I used those for cover as I waded across.

But then it happened. Midway across the river I notice a guy is right next to me and he's building some kind of house? with wooden ramps and shit. He stands there seemingly unphased by my presence simply looking at a book in his hand as pieces of wood swirl around him. Not exactly sure wtf is going on I start firing bullets at this guy and would you believe his semi transparent wood construction blocks all my bullets and afew moments later I am dead not even sure from what.

Two things went though my head at that moment.

1. Looks like this guy actually knows how to play fortnite and understands the mechanics. He was not phased by me infact I could not even hit this guy from 5 meters away.

2. My god this game is trash. if learning to build houses inbetween reloading your gun is a skill its most definately not a skill im intrested in learning.

And that was also the moment I knew I would never play fortnite again.

If anyone here thinks a game played by this many people won't have insane skill at the top, then think twice.

Did anyone imply that?
I am pretty sure there pretty skillful checker players out there at the top, but this doesnt change the fact that it is still a much simpler and less interesting game than chess and I will prefer to play chess over checkers any time. Same is true for Quake vs Fortnite. Or running vs football, running itself is maybe a sport for getting medals and thats the reason why people do it competetively, football includes running and has much more on top of that, which actually renders this sport interesting and fun ... hitscan weapons are part of quake, but quake has really cool movement on top of that and projectile weapons and rocket jumps ... of course I prefer Quake ... over and out!

I think its a little arrogent to say it doesnt take any skill. I dont play it myself, but of course the best players have skills, its foolish to think otherwise.

You'd think Quake players would be smarter than to buy into the 'cartoony graphics kids game hurr durr' shit considering the plague of realism military games and wannabe soldier shit is what killed off arena shooters to begin with.

If anything quake people should be digging fortnite, it's one of the only modern games that rewards the same mechanical skills quake does when it comes to juggling many binds at once, having to quick aim in wide ranges as opposed to low sens whoring, and improvisational gameplay. That's probably why guys with arena backgrounds like Cypher and zaccubus play it now.

Also instead of posting some cringey shit from ninja you could use something from this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8f_EhgXsBQ

I never played Fortnite, so I'm in no position to judge the game, it might be good or bad, I have no idea.. but the video you linked paints it to be something utterly terrible.
The guy is building stairs and ceiling for 10+ minutes. Is that considered fun or skilled among Fortnite players?

Building shit is just using weapons in any other game, except they're defensive. It still requires a ton of finesse and mastery to be good at. I don't really see the problem, not everything has to be constantly shooting at people but this still requires the same skills as doing that, not to mention that you still need to shoot at people in the game and in really small timing windows because of the aforementioned building.
