i have the feeling sincel the support for QL was stopped and you had to buy the game player numbers decreased a lot. bummer!

unfortunately the problem stays even with windows compatability mode. i will check the GPU drivers.

Yes there are still ctf games on the Omega servers every night and we will arrange a ctf drafts cup on sunday the 17th, hope to see you in game soon. Try what puritan suggests, and also check chipset drivers, lan drivers, bios updates and whatnot. If you won't get it right let's see if we can get you in on a discord channel where there are many hardware fantasts.

Same problem for me guys please help it's going 200 Max FPS and the max FPS are at 2:50 all settings like they were before I'm not sure what Windows 10 update did but it messed Quake live up.

Try it. Win 10 updates are known for messing up gpu drivers, so getting the latest driver, reinstalling your current or reverting to an older version could help.

is the delay exclusive to ql or does that happen in other applications and games too?

QL only. to be more specific the QL menu. in practice game i have no problem to play the game itself.
CS e.g. is perfectly fine.

Might be just fucked ql cache.
Backup your configs, disable steam sync with ql so steam wont restore the possibly corrupted cfg (its somewhere in the properties menu), delete all configs, start ql, reset everything to default, restart ql and see if it helped.

Since ql was made by retards, these kind of problems are inevitable even if you have the cleanest config on earth. The problem probably isnt even your config, ql cache can stack different variables for a single command and use all of them simultaneously, which can fuck up pretty much everything from sens to graphics. Figured it out when i did /writeconfig and found 7 different variables for sens.

Anyway, you can get rid of it by deleting everything from qzconfig and repconfig, leave them completely blank and set them to read-only, this will prevent ql from rewriting anything. Exec with autoexec. The only downside to this is having "couldnt write qzconfig" line in your console.

go ingame and do a /writeconfig rumble2018

then open it in notepad, copy everything and paste it here

make a autoexec.cfg and type in /exec rumble2018

why should he disable all that? From my experience this never fixed anything, the only thing that was bad with win10 was DVR which was on by default on previous win10 versions. If you are up to date there is no more auto DVR crap.

i just came back from a longer layoff, so i missed everything quake related.
i watched some streams of rapha and dahang. i liked what i saw. what was odd is that there were only 2 champions (galina and visor).

this sounds like my problem! but there seems to be no solution.

Microsoft are a bunch of hacks, rolling out updates and your settings gets nullified or reset to default, a bad joke really... Did you install new gpu drivers? Checked nVidia settings? I suppose most get reset to defaults there to? Do you use custom gpu settings for QL? If not it could be worth a try to setup a nvidia profile for QL, changing stuff around and see if it makes any difference. If you use custm QL settings in nVidia drivers perhaps try playing without them? Updated bios? Perhaps win security patches (meltdown and spectre) needs for microcode updates to be installed not to cripple your systems performance? Yakumo the man though, try what he said.

yes i reinstalled GPU and even chipset drivers. that had no effect.
i dont have nVidia GPU, i have some random onboard Intel GPU ("Intel HD Graphics"). so i dont have any custom setting either for quake.

i didnt update the bios yet since i have bad experience with that and quake worked properly 3 days ago. so i would rather test all other option before doing that.

whats odd is that i just managed to open a practice game (took me only about 10 minutes) and then playing the game is perfectly fine, no delay at all. when i am in game and go to the menu, everything seems to be normal again. i can go to the match browser and see the serverlist with its servers. but when i try to join an online server from there it takes again forever only to result in beeing kicked out with a message saying "cant connect to the server" (or something like that).

i opened the updatelist and all updates that were made are apperently related to MS office. i will try to deinstall office and see if it works. if it doesnt i have to delete every update manually, which will take quite some time. --> that was not accurate! there was an windows update to Version 1803

edit: i assume i have to reinstall windows -___-
maybe i should take this as an opportunity and go back to windows 7. at least i can up the Hz rate of my WMO there.

If I'm to have a guess it could be the awesomium process acting up. It have been a source of problems earlier. Though in this case I don't know any workaround since it affects you in the menus so can't kill it... Don't install win 7 yet :) You on irc/discord? Think I have you in my steam buddy list. and you probably have to disable nagel algorithm in the advanced settings using SG TCP Optimizer https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php , that is broken and does'nt work, whatever settings you have

and if you use a tethered cell phone, your internet will suck real bad, unless you have some low latency USB ports on your boards I/O panel, otherwise bluetooth it, your internet will be a joke when tethered with USB

1, Windows firewall is fine for the job it has to do (block or allow based on rules), if you need anything more, see point 2 below.
2, You do not run advanced firewalls on the OS you want to protect with said firewall, it's stupid (zonealarm or anything included).

i don't, doom beta was playable like most games, after messing with the network settings, when a phone is tethered on t-mobile uk before BT brought EE and made them a joke, the average ping was 60ms tops when a phone is tethered with USB

windows firewall is shit, if you are connected to the internet or a LAN, then simple desktop talking uses bandwidth and takes up 40% of your bandwidth, with all the services talking to each other and other background tasks

zonealarm, you can block all of that, and have your internet for internet connections

ok now i managed to get the game running with my old config (threw a lot of commands out with the cfg cleaner). problem now is that i dont get more than 60 fps. these 60 fps are very unstable as well.

Check vsync. But I wanna play some ctf with you xD You're on a laptop? Otherwise buy a cheap gpu, something like a gtx960 (50 euro?) and you'll easily get 125fps stable. If it's an older computer running win10 could it could all be down to running legacy drivers instead of vendor specific drivers?I don't really know, thinking out loud, maybe it can be of assistance to yo :)

when its "0" my quake doesnt work. if its "1" there is no problem.
but when its "0" my fps is capped to 60 fps. any idea? :(

edit: no laptop here, im playing on a desktop acer veriton m6. there shouldnt be any problem since QL worked perfectly finde before the win10 update. :(

SOLUTION: seta r_enablepostprocess "0" is responsible for the delay! setting it to "1" solves all problems.

i just took my old config and only set postprocessing to 1 and out of the sudden, everything works again perfectly. no fps cap at 60 anymore.
