well (and i don't mean to bring this up in some kind of negative way since i follow a ton of your CS content and watched the entire faceit lan recently) since you mostly play cs now, I don't think I could recommend a suitable mouse since I'm only ranked @ LE and even then I haven't played in months so i'm not really sure what would be considered "good" equipment for such a game.


Anyhow since I would feel bad for not giving a "serious answer" :

If you can get on with the shape of the G303, I'd go for that. The dimensions and weight are almost the same and I really like the shape, but I can understand how it might put off a lot of people. The sensor is great, and it has logitech's famously low click latency. I did prefer it to my abyssus, however I'm a logitech fanboy. plus half of TSM are using the g303 and they're winning shittons atm :D

The g100s might also be a nice option, except it has a narrower back than the abyssus, may take some getting used to.

Quake will always be my home, and whatever performs best in Quake will always perform best in CS for me-- although in reality I don't think it makes a difference which game you play as far as that goes ;D. Thanks for the suggestion, will check it out!

This is the correct answer (I would also add some Hyperglides).

Mine died in 4 months. I know about 4 more just in my vicinity which did the same. Also, what Logitech is commiting with the RMA procedure is beyond atrocious.

It's a good mouse until it breaks, which might happen pretty soon after buying. It's quite a lottery imo. Two words comes to mind when I think about this mouse; cheap (and not in a good way) and neglectful.

It's nothing like the Abyssus. Shape is different, objectively speaking the sensor is worse and build quality is questionable at best.

I have a zowie za13 and it is pretty similar in shape to my abyssus '14. The za13 is narrower so maybe go up a size or two to the 12 or 11 if you really want to match widths. The abyssus is shorter than the 13 so going up a size won't help there.

Can also go the FK route but that doesn't have as much booty as a abyssus or za.

Those ~20 bucks Mirrors are mostly fakes, using a cheap implementation of the Avago 3050 with a shitty lens.

any proof of what you are saying? i am interrested. from my experience every mouse i bought from china or korea were exact same as the ones coming from USA or europe. I just only had 1 time a problem : it was a fake WMO but it was like not a WMO at all. Unfinished product, not even glued properly etc, quite funy, coming from china seller.

I'm not saying that ALL are fakes, just there's a possibilty that if you buy one, you end up with it. Some people around these parts ordered these cheap Mirrors and a few of them got rekt because after they opened the mouse, the sensor has nothing to do with the Avago S3888. So it's quite a gamble.

Recetly replaced my Abyssus with a Logitech G100S. The sensor is shockingly stable. You won't regret it, I promise.

I think I won't be buying anything razer in the coming years. Their products have been going downhill steadily. Looks to me they like their profit margins too much and won't bring the quality back any time soon.

It's sad as nothing even comes close to the goodness that was my long dead Diamondback. It used to work on completely transparent glass!!! without much problems. Imperator, Abyssus, and pretty much everything they sell these days can't do that even on their own pads. Fuck em.

My Abyssus is still working, though. I just couldn't take it any more. I am willing to gift it to somebody in need, though I won't cover the shipping.

Yeah man, I had like 6 diamondbacks over the years-- it's what I started playing super good on and I kept using them from 2005-2011, then to the abyssus. I tried the g100s but it just never felt nearly as good as my abyssus, maybe I should give it another go at some point, I don't have it here with me.

Which Abyssus did you have? If you were happy with it, just go for another one. If you had the first version, and don't mind sticking to 1800dpi, then go for the new Abyssus version. Excellent next step in my opinion.

why not abyssus 2014 ?

I have one but the lift off distance sucks and the sensor in this at least is really bad compared with my old one.

edit: it's always possible that I got one from a bad batch I guess!

Honestly Dan, the closest to original Abyssus is the new version. My new version skips on any pad other than a razer pad lol, no idea how they program that into a sensor. But yeah if you had issues with a qck etc, try a goliathus or anything razer.

Btw what's the problem with your old Abyssus?

a) If microswitches, then buying 3 japanese Omron D2F-01F is like $3 and all you have to do is to replace them with the faulty chinese ones. If you can't do the soldering, the chance of finding a person in your vicinity to do it for you for a beer / tea / coke is pretty high.

b) If cable, then buying a replacement cable is also around $3-5. If it's not directly for / coming from Abyssus / Salmosa, all you have to do is to pay attention to put each colored wire in its original little socket so the order squares.

c) If feet, well...that's not a problem, is it?

d) You broke the shell? You can buy replacement shell for ~20 bucks.

e) PCB - well, that sucks.



About high LOD: you can either apply thicker glides / double glides or you can just simply use the tapefix trick - or a combination of both, like some people with the old DAs.

Razer deathadder chroma 2015. Great mouse. Replaced my zowie am (wich has a Great sensor) to this and i am very happy.

Smooth, and i rally enjoy The sensor. NO problems.

What's the similarity between those except that both are Razer?

cause I can only stream from the office and Team Immunity has been bootcamping from the PC that I'd normally use. Plus my gear has gone "missing" :s.

Dan, I recently bought the 2014 Aby, and after a couple of games I wanted to return it to the store.
After the firm update and switching to 500hz I was amazed how responsive had become.
I played with the 1st gen Abyssus from 2010 til now, but one of the clicks had problems and I thought "why not try something new".
After like 10-15 hours of quake play I got used to the new shape and weight of the new aby, but I still miss the old one. I can't find old abyssus in stores only the mirror one, but I hate that one :P.
Give the new one (2014) a chance, but remember to install new firmware and set it to 500hz like Heartless said.

I still use the old abyssus, mostly because I love the small flat shape, but overall I don't think any mouse can replace it, been really happy with it for like 4 years now :P.

I initially wanted to replace it with the 2014 but read so many bad reviews online I stuck with a new purchase of the old model. But seems people are saying they fixed those issues with a firmware update.
