As a DMG I can only tell you this: learn the maps, learn how to aim in the game. Sound is slightly weird yes, buy you'll learn those small things by playing. While I'm DMG, starting in silver matchmaking is okay for noobies, you'll experience the money system,... positions.. calls,.. better there than in deatchmatch/casual.

learn the awkward ass movement and have good aim. you have to tap in the opposite direction to stop moving and bullets do not go anywhere close to where you're actually aiming

the game is basically p2w though since you need a really beefy computer to get 200 constant fps on an 11 year old engine and 120 hz monitor with lightboost & good mouse are required


not worth it to pick it up, i only play because i played a lot as a kid. game is trash and the only thing that keeps it alive is people placing value in ugly skins. i'd highly recommend you do something else because it's not a fun game or a really skillful game. community is horrible too, lots of 80 hour a week/3k hours total players who are angry at the world so at some point you will find yourself on the receiving end of their sighs and snotty complaining. servers are bad, hitreg is even worse.

Play the opposite as you do in Quake: aim to the head (not the feet), stay still, blame teammates.

Start with knowing when to be aggressive and not to be aggressive.. then move onto bunny hopping, straight up strife jumping, and some plazma climbs should do you for a couple weeks.

CS is so insanely mundane. Camp spawn with awp, sneak around corners with cross hair looking at other like minded corners crawlers. Rush the least protected route and if successful continue scrapping on enemies focused on other route. Campers campers campers.

It's a shame when one can't have fun with game unless you go full try hard mode inviting whole family to play some matchmaking with cheaters.

1.learn how to hold+take bomb sites on all the current competitive maps
2.try to remember some basic popflash+smokes (not that important though because most of the stuff that happens in even high ranked matchmaking games is random as fuck)
3.learn recoil pattern of common weapons
4.camp
5.listen for footsteps
6.learn locations on comp maps
7.learn the angles on bombsites
