It's strange how I just noticed how useful these two practice modes are. Coming from a background knowledge of knowing how to strafe correctly, I had to test myself by spending a few hours doing this with 100% accuracy. I realized that I cannot achieve this with 100% accuracy. So I realized my strafing and rocket jumping is flawed.

If you want some more movement practice install defrag for Q3 and get the maps tr1ckhouse_beta3 and cos1beta_7b.

They have strafe pads that gradually increase in difficulty, eventually becoming very challenging (imo). It will force you to really nail your circle jumps among other things.

Just a hint, those maps are also available for quake live
I've assembled a big folder or defrag and trickjumping maps and sorted them neatly in one handy rar archive

Movement is everything in this game. Aiming should be the last priority. It helps you get to the right position as accurately as you possibly can and that's the goal. Would be nice to get more practice maps if you know of any.

apart from the few instances where you need to not fuck up a jump to an item or weapon, movement hardly matters in ql. It helps when chasing, but if you're running away from someone, +back & rockets is much more effective.

improving movement in ql beyond a very basic level (basic means consistently using wall-clipping and doing b2r 7 out of 10 times) will probably not give you significant benefits, and if it does, the effect is nullified by even the tiniest of aim advantages the enemy has.
