I just as well not have my identity be known I know several of the pros that playing at quakecon and know none of them would complain in public so I'm doing it on there behalf .

Some weeks ago I was told that they hadn't paid yet. No idea if it was true then or if it remains true to this day.

However, it's really common in "e-sports" that events take their time to pay the prizes and in the end what matters the most is that they finally do so.

Quakecon and faceit have some delays yes, but they are trustworthy, as they have always paid them and for a number of years by now. They aren't like CPL and others, that just didn't.

Also ESL took what, a year to pay?

I actually played in a CPL Brazil tournament and they paid me a week after. But you guys can ask some old brazilian players about Leo de Biasi, he has a pretty bad reputation here but he got this bad reputation from a long time ago. Reef might have some story about him, he was closed to this guy.

This CPL Brazil 2006 (or 2005 don't remember precisely) was organized by the ex-MIBR owner and sponsor, his name is Paulo Velloso. He has/had a company called DBA.

Local and specific tournaments may differ, since they are mostly organized by locals, but CPL itself is infamous for not paying a shit ton of prizes back in the day. I still remember a video in which they talk about the ever due payments while showing Angel Muñoz's mansion and his grand piano, lol.

Anyway, point is Quakecon is easily one of the better organizations out there when it comes to paying the announced prize money. Come to think of it, isn't it the longest running organization, now that WCG died?

Criticizing the event on this matter -like the OP does- necessarily means not knowing how things work in "e-sports", and in businesses in general. It's not as easy as wiring money through paypal, with infinite own supplies.


edit: Was just checking quakecon on wikipedia and some nasty random chilean added himself to the player's lists lol. "Ka1R0S" (no idea who he is), in the 2005 quake2 retro tournament and in 2006's quake4.

I've been once in the organization of the WCG Regional and Local events and I was responsible for the CS and UT tournament's rules, matches, local times and so on. A friend of mine tried to get the host of the WCG (of the next year prior to that day) and I was in the CEO of this supposed event. I guess I like to organize events, etc, meet people, talk about gaming etc.

Bu yeah, QuakeCon has a good reputation.

This guy De Biasi was behind the most old CPL, ESWC and WCG events in Brazil. He owned a very popular and big franchise of Lan-Houses in Brazil called Cyber.

I think they didn't pay only one year or something. No idea really.

I do remember that some guys from mibr were complaining about ESWC and whether they would get their prizes.

Do you have any idea what the schedule was like for any of the previous years? Is this badmouthing really necessary? Are you just jumping the gun as you heard someone state some player hadn't been paid yet but know none of the details of how it works in the first place?who are you anyway?

Luke'unr was never given his prize(s?) from some ukccl/ Vincent Vega event that's more of a story.

Give it at least a year because busting out the sensational titles. Quakecon is well known for their delayed payments, it's standard practice in esports.

2 months late and no response to emails from the man in charge of quakecon "mentioning no names" seems a bit ridiculous!!!

Well you could start with actually mentioning names. Who has issues? Has this person filled the forms and sent them as he was supposed to? How long has it been since then?

It is ridiculous, there's quite a few posts on here from players who have had to wait over a year to get their winnings. Id Software usually delivers though, unlike some other businesses / organisations who have not paid out at all.
