Get Magic Actions for Youtube: Block ads, set default resolution, remove annotations, cinema mode, etc.

Don't really know what you mean by toolbar customization..what are you doing in firefox that you can't do in chrome?

I went through the same thing as you, got fed up with how slow firefox had started to become, dunno wtf they doing...adding in a bunch of spyware or tracking crap I guess. (not that Chrome is free of that but o.O)

Toolbar customization meaning that I can customize the placement and layout of buttons and toolbars.

I'll try that Magic Actions and maybe I will just get used to the browser layout and stick with Chrome after all :)

Ah ok, in Chrome I used extra mousebuttons for most of my navigation. The only time I'm M1 on things is to close the browser or open bookmark tab.

Chrome is good in that though, you can easily open up your most viewed stuff from the main load page.

Get AdBlock instead, it's better than Adblock Plus.

Weird, I just went from Iron (Chromium) to Firefox for the same reasons...

you must use a wrong firefox, the only crashes i have is from flash player, and they are far between.

so what's the right firefox?

Can you tell me a bit about what makes that one good?
I tried using Waterfox but the only real difference I could tell was that it could run a few more filetypes then Firefox, but it crashed a bunch.

Pretty happy with Chrome now. (Last time I tried it there was no AdBlock for it so it didn't last too long) and got sick of Firefox because it started taxing the crap out of my computer every time I ran it. Could literally hear my CPU fan start speeding up everytime I opened the browser.

one that is not sick and dieing. It was a bad joke though :) Opera is more crash prone for me at least, IE, no thanks and chrome can go away with its new fad browser already.(also google)

edit: also, i have compact plus theme + adblock plus and tab mix plus and yet another smooth scroll as my only extensions. afaik plugins and extensions are what bugs out most browsers.

Yep. And flash crashes in Chrome as well.

I'm also amazed how much processor usage flash video causes, I mean it's more than playing a goddamn game.

Been using chrome for ages, but lately it's been giving me shit, basically all the windows just go white, refresh does nothing. Need to open a new tab.

I have a problem in Chrome now where YouTube videos stay black but the video is playing in the background, perhaps under the black.. Right click > Inspect element shows the video, but as soon as I close that it goes black again. I don't understand. Works in incognito but when I disabled all extensions, cleared cache etc, no luck.

I got the same problem. Only way I've found to bypass this is use Magic Actions for youtube and use their own fullscreen button to go full screen and back. But it's driving me crazy having to do this with every video I try to watch.

That'd drive me up the wall just as much as the actual problem. :(

Actually I think I've had the same problem with Firefox... I think it's something wrong with playing HTML5 videos fullscreen?

The video freezes but sound keeps playing and I have to close the browser tab. Even then, the sound keeps playing for a few seconds and finally stops. Dunno.

My problem affects regular sized videos on the page though, doesn't sound the same?

Sounds like we're having the exact opposite when it comes to which browser we prefer!

I love Chrome, but for some reason, YT videos started playing at like 15 fps for some reason. No matter what I tried, it was this way. I even reformatted(not solely because of this, but it was time to do it, anyway). Reinstalled everything. Still super low YT fps. little video window, full-screen. didn't matter. 15 fps. Tried firefox and it was fine so fml now I'm using FF. =( Hell, YT even worked on IE, which I tried just out of curiosity's sake on YT.

Ahh, well. No matter, my new pc should be shipping later today or on Monday, anyway, and it's back to Chrome for flocks! \o/

I do like that I can import my Bookmarks between browsers, at least. That was a real life saver!

just use firefox for youtube only.

There is no alternative sadly and even Firefox has been pretty awful for the past 3-4 years. I just got used to it.

The other major browsers are unusable in the long run.
