Thorin is actually really good. Would love to see more casting with him!

Really enjoying thorin casting. He can be the 2nd caster forever as far as I am concerned. He sounds different than DDK but is just as fluid in speech and gives good insight.

Good casting from both. DDK is more relaxed than earlier which is much more pleasant to hear than the constant 'excited' tone.

I pretty much lost the game when I went to cut evil off the lg instead of going for MH.

Some clutch moments but I would not call it luck. Some silly mistakes and this is not a good opponent to make them against.

I have no word for furious heights though, was easily my worst t7 showoff for ages :P. My head was probably still on dm6, eventhough I tried to forget about it.

What did you think when you rushed him with mg (you were at the yellow). You received two rails. I assume that you thought that he was low but rushing someone in a straight line, jumping with mg out while you knew that he had rail was not the best thing.

You probably thought that he had like 40hp or so (I cannot remember how much he had) but it felt like you were better off going for the rocket and then deal damage at red.

I myself wondered why I was doing that WHILE doing that. Probably frustration of getting railed the first time in the first place, because it completely ruined my plan which was to get in position for the mega (as far as i remember)

Talking about finding a Diamond in the rough, thorin was excellent on the MIC! The guys has great insight and seems to know the players styles very well. Thorin is definitely a keeper!

I have to admit, I was a little sceptical when I read Faceit was flying in an e-sport interviewer to co-cast a sunday cup. But after watching a few games, he'd already become one of my favorite Faceit co-casters. I enjoyed his historical knowledge and psychological insights a lot.

It also made me realize how cool it is that Faceit keeps looking for new co-casters, and doesn't stick to one duo. Every new caster has something unique to enjoy.

But I'd say definitely fly in Thorin for another cup if he wants!

Even if the guy has little knowledge of ql, I wouldnt mind if that helped rise the number of viewers.

Get some famous LoL/dota/sc2 caster and make some promotion around it. Hell, they could maybe try to get joe ? He's built quite a name for himself. He does cast games with over 200k viewers occasionally, so why not ?

Because they are professional Starcraft 2 casters who know nothing about Quake. Don't really like TotalBiscuit but he did ok commentating QL and brought a lot of viewers with him.

Well, they're also pretty cool guys who know a lot about esports and the psychology behind 1v1.
I don't think dem0ns' proposal was about q3 knowledge, but about spreading the word that it still exists, getting views and about bringing together people that care about their passion.
So in that regard I still think these sc guys would fit in perfectly as they'd also bring a good sense of humour, let alone professionalism with them.

If you manage to get back in time and transport the old Brood war Tasteless, then yes. Otherwise, no. I think its obvious he has ... problems. Hes done.

Artosis has a good knowledge on Sc2, but hes boring. Czm is a similar type and actually would be a much better choice. Just make him overcome his autistic mode and make him talk more, because Im sure theres 10gbps stuff going on in his awesome nerdy head.

I'd like to see czm on Faceit again. He said he was really tired last time so that's probably the reason he was so damn quiet but he has done some really good quality casting in the past so I know he can do it again.

Sorry to abuse "legendary" but Apheleon or Aph was one of the best CPMA promode duelers from the States and in the world; (more imo) his name in equal context with other promode duelers like rat and matr0x.
His movement/jumps demo on cpm15 was required viewing for anyone who wants to see CPMA's physics full potential.
THIS match with ddk commentary shows a bit. He plays with less typical rhythm since gelleh is pressuring.

p.s. Nice cha0z -- back-to-back wins over GEKKO and s3ven..no easy task.
p.s.s. Very knowledgeable ESR community here can correct my spotty CPMA history.

Aph still plays CPM occasionally. He's on the west coast now and since there are fewer CPMers out there, he usually is forced to play hpb whenever he duels. I agree that he's a brilliant player (particularly on cpm3a) and even though he's basically inactive in CPM, he still manages to play great.

Anyhow, would be nice to see Aph become active in Quake again though I believe he's pretty good at SC2 and might be playing that competitive (though I don't follow the SC2 tournies).

Thorin makes a really good caster and has made Faceit much more enjoyable to watch than other times, at least for me.
Head dived into his monitor, constantly paying attention, comparing players in game and also in general, making references to some of the classic matches from the past, not giving a fuck about small talk. Also the analysis was great.
Hope hes going to stay.

I think that these 4 are currently very balanced, and that each of them can win or lose against any one of the other 3 which is great for us viewers, and I think that's much more exciting than 1 player dominating everyone else most of the time (like the evil era post DHW and cypher a month or two back).

So Cooller beats Cypher in one Faceit cup and all of a sudden Cooller>Cypher. If you take all the matches between Cypher and Cooller throughout their history, Cypher has like a 80% win ratio against Coller. Cypher > Cooller until the end of times.

Cypher > K1llsen

Evil is the only one that is like a 50 - 50 with Cypher. The Evil vs Cypher rivalry reminds me of K1llsen vs Av3k rivalry. Because of the style clashes these matches are really hard to predict and usually overall the games tend to be a coin flip.

Coller > Evil. Evil's style of play is very comfortable for Cooller. Cooller is one of those players that if you rely on shamanik tactics and not straight textbook play you can get easily countered and lose even if you possess higher combat skills. That is the point of technical play, its to have the most efficient play in situations to counter less efficient plays. Its like boxing, if you have textbook technical boxing you can win even at a late age because you are not so reliant on reflexes (aim). A prime example is Bernard Hopkins, because of his textbook boxing skills he could win and be at the top well over his forties, while another beast and talented boxer that's more like Cypher, Roy Jones lost his edge when he lost his crazy speed, agility and reflexes.

Cypher tends to dominate Cooller because trying to control every item you can't always keep your positioning. Cyphers expertise is dealing damage at certain points in the map when players don't expect it, and even if they do his higher combat skills always put him at the top of the engagements. However the difference is Cypher is mid to high range combat player while Evil is more up close and personal. Cooller has great rockets so Evil's in your face style tends to get crushed, while Cyphers mid to high range he is not so effected by Cooller's rockets and Cypher also has better rockets, lg and rail.

Cypher is by far still number one Quake Player of all time. The reason for this is because if you take all the best players when they performed at their absolute peak Cypher is the one who was The One. Cypher reminds me of a prime Mike Tyson, even though Mike didn't have the best technical boxing skills he possessed the most ruthless fast, aggressive, and powerful offense and defense that no one could match it no matter how technical they were. There's a point in technical play where it just doesn't matter if you can't remotely match your opponent in speed, agility and reflexes.

The best of both worlds would be to have Cypher combat skills with Rapha's technical play but for some reason this sort of imba collision doesn't happen in sports or games. Just imagine a player who makes no mistakes in positioning, decision making and reading his opponent while possessing the best combat skills and movement, one word undefeated. Even in boxing usually the beast combat fighters tend to be less technical, while the really technical fighters lack combat skills.
