tf2 isnt much fun, and this seem worse

well, it's based on HL2 enigne i guess ... so only steam, would be better to be a browser based game

as the vod shown, and the 2GD show has NOT shown, you can do some jumping and siderolling to get to higher places

and YES it's a fun game like Offensive Combat

your idea of "fun" is hella different than mine. i actually enjoyed learning how to move in quake, same as i enjoy learning how to do combos in fighting games. i like the game to have a learning curve, not simply starting the game and setting key bindings, rest is autopilot.

tf2 is a lot of fun, watchu talking about.

I downloaded this and played it. Graphics are nice and smooth and the net play from Australia to USA felt amazing actually. I found that just making a sniper gun and just headshotting people so easy haha. The game gets pretty boring so fast though, it feels like a quick flash game or something with no real goal or anything.

I've been playing this a lot the past few days and I think it's better than TF2. you can make lightning guns and some other quake weapons and the movement is pretty quick and good. The maps are designed pretty well to synergize with the length of the leap you make when you run+jump so its pretty fun getting around maps once you learn them. On a couple I can bypass most paths chaining jumps ontop of stuff and to halve my travel time. The game modes are pretty good and theres item/health pickups around the map.

There are some balance issues that need to be taken care of. There's a few weapon loadouts that are overpowered, but getting killed by cheap no skill stuff hasn't raged me to the point that TF2 has.

My biggest gripe is that its f2p so you need to get xp and unlocks to have the most powerful weapons, but it's not a huge difference.

So this game has 20k concurrent players now. The new competitive mode seems kind of cool, it includes ctf, capture point, and that mode where u pick up dead player drops all in one map.

edit: it looks like there's ranked matchmaking but it's kind of all behind the scenes and doesn't work that well and no actual way to compete yet.

the ctf / jackhammer mode is kind of cool

obviously they made out of simple names ctf / domination some other modes.

Every stream i see, the player have made a yellow-shaft weapon and a rocket launcher.

I did not follow the developer stream lately, so i dont know what is going on ...

They tried to make game where you can create your own weapon from scratch. Cool concept,, right?

There is some fun in trying out different stuff but at the end of the day you will get owned by some uber imba pr0 combo weapon. Playing with something obviously worse isn't that fun. I've read someone on forum (it could be developer :S) who defended current balance problems with "you can use worse guns and then you have more satisfaction from killing stuff, righttttt???" : ))))))))

Rest of the game is really nothing special. You run and shoot.
I guess there is no FFA sic!
Overall it feels really free-to-playish. No depth in movement and weapon crafting isn't great.

Maybe with proper teams it would be fun to watch. Proper use of healing and the buff gun.

I really enjoy it, think it's the best twitch shooter to come out in years. It could have legs once custom matches are enabled and leagues are possible. Right now public games are just scratching the surface of what's possible.

yea, stream was fucked up for a while when i played loadout. it was basically a slideshow, and i just thought it was lagging just on my end. apparently the vods got fucked up too. i'm pretty sure i got it sorted out in the end though (only checked with cs). i'll test it out further tomorrow, might be streaming for a while if it works out. thx for telling me though.

edit: just confirmed that i got it working smoothly with loadout as well. 40 fps hd stream. here's the 1 VOD i just made while testing it out (match starts at 3:40).

yeah, iam downloading the stream, the video file should be OK, but it was some local recording error or upload error.

Do you record locally on a diff sata device ?

My mainboard has a way to handle mSata SSD up to 240GB or more cost not much :)

For now iam good with one WD green 1TB, need a gamer monitor first, then SSD's

i'm not recording it locally at all, twitch saves my vods. stream is good atm, so i'll basically stream whenever i play loadout and sometimes different games as well. i have no viewers though, which is a shame. if i did i'd probably switch to english commentary, but so far not much interest.

I do enjoy this game but the netcode is perhaps too forgiving for hitscan.

fun game, but that whole progression/unlock system and the huge amount of customization (that will no doubt create balance issues) are total turnoffs/dealbreakers for me. i just want shoot things, not spend hours grinding for unlocks and managing my gear and shit.

just played like 3 games, at start what i didnt know when u walk through a weapon u autopick it and it drops your original weapon, and there is no disable autopickup function, otherwise it seems like a game to chill, might be fun with mates :)

there's a button bind for picking up items. unless you didn't press that exact bind it shouldn't do that.

btw you can shoot rockets out of the sky ... try it :)

yeah u were right, i had it bound on the same key as the forward key

anyway i was playing the competetive mod, seemed like a ctf mod to me, was quite ok but was lacking the option to switch teams in game, since it was 2 v 4 ...

still fun so far

I saw today the last developer stream, guys said, they had to deal with ~200 cheaters

you file a compleint and they are investigating then, but he said to MANY QUAKERS & UT guys are playing and they are ovious not cheating ...

Played about 10 competitive mode matches today with a group of buddies and wrecked every team we went up against. Most ended up quitting or surrendering. We even switched over to European region in search of harder competition but the teams there were just as bad. Could be real fun but most teams are terrible or made up of solo queuers.

so far its only beta so I don't want to invest too much of myself in this game but I'm having a blast so far, one that I didn't get for about 10 years for a fps.If they manage to make it proper compatible with competiting (it clearly isnt possible atm with these random auto grouping and what not) it will be great. Also @peterg ye competitive mode right now is useless as its ONLY single player people picked up randomly you never get to face an actual team.

It's definitely bad, the type of game you play with friends for a few hours and forget.
