I see problems comming up with the ctf tourney though.
the teaming up with the eindhoven ctf lan was a mess since tons of players resigned or switched teams etc. im afraid it will be chaotic. so i hope you guys are flexible with the teaming up, the pay first doesnt make it easier. Please create a irc channel for the clanless ctfers so people can come together. maybe let them sign up first and set a more fair deadline for the teams to pay since people with jobs might not be sure about it so early. i mean its a long time from august to october. dont screw it up just because u want early money please

It's not about early money, it's about planning and logistics. You were the one who pushed for the CTF tournament (a tournament we weren't going to hold at all). I told you the conditions from the very beginning, we have to stick to those I'm afraid.

As for prize money, just wait ;)

it is not a question that there are 8 teams possible even 12 but u should create conditions that allow players to form a team. one month to create a team and plan 3 months ahead is not possible. these conditions kill the the tournament right from the beginning :/

it is pretty easy.
1. you play with a clan online? ask them first cos theyre more likely to agree (clan meet up).
2. if you short of a player or 2 then start asking others you play with a lot.
3. when youve found enough agree an arrival & departure date....then tell them to book those days off work the next day.
4. next evening (after all booked off work) all pay the registration fee and start synching up the flights so you arrive at a similar time (they should be cheaper in advance too)
5. get raped by some pro clan

also obviously i dont just have my exam session in mind, for instance today i wasnt online at all because i've been visiting my whole family on my mother's side, tomorrow i'm gonna be doing something else, etc. And if you take into account that some other people i'd be playing ctf with have the same type of busy life in the summer, then you can easily guess its hard to settle a 4-man team with each paying 60 pounds to play... oh well, why do i try . :(

This deadline was announced the same time we announced the tournament. Nobody complained at that time, we've made our arrangements according to that. If players had spoken out about this before now, we could've probably changed it accordingly.

you not from small country so you not understand
just countries where good players but TDM team not possible 100%:
Denmark: many good players but not team becouse many inactive, Juvenile emo, etc.
Austria: noctis may or not come lose, other 3 not 100% sure
Ukraine/Russia: got good players who can come LAN but not LAN team together, and 102 = team russia so need 4 other for 2nd team, what if not 4, but only 2 can?
Baltic countries: no TDM teams, can form United Baltic States team but that not nation team, speak english etc, I think they have no interest form such team too
South/Eastern europe(from italy to turkey to poland) - many small countries, no full TDM teams.
Not europe: some players can(czm for exampl), but full nation team can not come.
Spain&Portugal not full teams too(spain maybe, but portugal no 100%)
etc etc

Many players come to fun, but also maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany players want come for try win, and weak TDM nation team not win so they not come

I personally think the following countries have potential to bring very good teams for Division 1 in no order of skill.

Sweden (We might even be able to field 2 or 3 strong teams)
Russia
Poland - Possible to drive to NL - Should take 8-10 hours in average :)
UK
France
Italy
Netherlands - Can drive car or take train to lan.
Belgium - Can drive car or take train to lan.
Finland (if they get a 4th)
Germany (should be able to pull 2 or 3 teams if they get their players together) - Can drive car or take train to lan.
Denmark - with or without Juvenile they should get a strong lineup this close. Can drive car or take train to lan.

+more that I can't think of now but I think your assumption is a bit off.

These are the countries I'm more or less confident / sure of if the tournament is done properly. We have several months to push and motivate our nations to field teams. Just need to spread the word amongst the players and have good captains for the nations. For the teams with money problems we can also start donations. Lets make it good! :)

Mikes is maybe the best russian tdmer ever together with jibo(if u count him as russkie). Cooller aint bad either defenitely on the same lvl as the 102 guys when active. Evil is also a beast in tdm. Teamplay wise 102 may be better tho. And 102 have won 1 online tournament now when all the big names doesnt participate anymore.

fox never died tho, atleast in q3 he had allways least deaths havent seen to much tdm from him in ql though. And he was insane in locking down areas. He seemed to have a sixth sense in tdm.

Nonsense.

At DHS2011, the team consisting of cooller, evil, jibo and mikes:
- won against aCtion with 50-100 frags difference
- won 1 map against Reason (and dm14 was really close)
- played a really close dm20 against colwn (remember that cowln raped Reason in the final on dm20)

Given these performances, I'd say that the Russians would have had good chances (or even be favorites) against basically any other team at DHS2011 -- be that serious, 4K, xt, metsu, alpha, dignitas or ufx.

Btw.. there are plenty of players from each country with very good tdm level.. that's a fact because we could see it in the last nations cup.
The question is if they will show up.. or even care to.

Lets see :

France : if they bother (prizemoney is good) they can get a great team.
Sweden : always had great teams and they can get even better if they want to bring the best players.
Uk : they could have one of the best teams.. if they pick them.
sitto : = italy nations team? don't know why u say italy doesn't have 4 players..
Denmark : they just played nations cup with 4 players they have a strong lineup and they won't go if they don't want to.
Finland poland etc the same.
Then you have teams like ukraine.. that have players but they dont like lan much?
You have other nations like finland portugal spain austria etc and even others that could bring a team if they wanted.

So i don't see what your talking about.. russians didn't even win the last nations cup.. not dishing them they have a great team but ur comment is truly insane.

About regultar tdm teams.. i wanna see how many teams sign up after colwn sign up.

Russia only country who win 1 map from France in nationscup with 3 time more pings and game very very close. They ONLY lose becouse ping. When ping fair - RUS OWN HARD.

I've signed as a captain. I've already got a full team though. But I'm interested in collecting all Swedish players who wants to go, and then organise if possible more teams.

To all Swedish players who wants to go to this LAN for TDM. Please /msg purri on IRC ( you find me in #ql.se ) and I will keep a list of all players and organise teams.

I've got myself and 3 'unknown' players for now in my team :)

So madix, spartie, dibbe, mobius, senti, mikkoh, optimizer, p1s, empish, ph0enX, bab gizmo, zorre, blajnd, mdf, funnyb, procks, pugatti etc etc please let me know if you want to go. :)

Edit: I've checked flights from Skavsta (Sweden) airport to Eindhoven (NL) airport. They are currently 38euro return. If you start saving now, you need to save 10euro/month for the flights. This should help :)

I fully agree.

In this case, some of the other players in Sweden don't. This will determine who we have available and even if I personally don't agree, I naturally respect their decisions. At this rate we will have several teams going anyway and time will tell who plays with who.

Note: Splitting money is not a discussion, that is a given :)

Apart from the fact it's not an outrageous price, we are a British-based company. This means our accounts are handled in British currency.

For our past events when we've dealt in Euros, it has made it very difficult to note in pounds what it translates as due to the currency rate changing constantly throughout each day. Secondly, we lost money when dealing in Euros.

I got your PM, but not much I can say to it that I haven't already said. CTF wasn't supposed to be here at all, we added it as an extra.

The reason we need to know wayyyy in advance about the chances of teams coming is so we can promise people sooner how the schedule will be about clashing. Right now duel & TDM do not clash at all, only CTF will possibly clash with both.

So far only 1 team has signed up, it appears that the suspicions about CTF are true; the teams just aren't there anymore. And if anybody says "but teams don't know if they can get the money together to go", the actual signup form does not request payment at that time.

Also, you ask daily about the prizepool, we don't have the figures for that, yet.

The majority io the CTF prize money would've come from ticket sales, if the CTF tournament is cancelled, the tickets get refunded.

well that would be REALLY sad if CTF and TDM clash because 90% of playerbase is the same. Clashing with duel is easier because 1v1 is far more easier to schedule cause you only need 2 players and I'm pretty sure most people would come for TDM&CTF rather than duel which prolly gonna be more like a bonus tournament

I'm also having a bit mixed feelings with CTF and TDM clashing. I don't think these communities are that big or different in this case = many players play both. If you don't reach a good number of teams for both, then perhaps think about if you must or need to cancel one.

Well 8 teams should be pretty easily achieved, and from what I have heard alot of the guys I talk with frequently are planning on playing both modes - so am I.

The way to solve the scheduling would be best done by making CTF and Duel clash instead of any other scenario, simply cause most duelers rather play TDM and alot of teamplayers want to play both TDM and CTF.

You, Purri, may aswell make a team for CTF and we can have even more fun time, more games and more competition in two team based modes then!
