Mah, i would say that you could try Counter-strike.
For new games, i would suggest the new starcraft (but its not fps, but you should still try it) and the actual battelfield 3 or the next call of duty.

League of Legends, obviously.

Get a job. In some of your spare time, have fun playing awesome games (Quake).

or get into other genres. Fast paced unrealistic fps games are a niche really, played by less than 0.0001% gamers and all those games are stuck in 1999.

Lots of "quakers" only like quake and not games in general, but the franchise will "die" in about 2 years from now so it's time to move on, whether to new ways of wasting our lives or something else.

Well I'm actually enjoying Red Alert 1 offline and online. It's the only game I can just play casually 2-3 times a week and entertain myself. Sad that it's another 1999 game! I guess there was something about that period.

Sorry but who are you?! Never heard of you so would you enlighten me what exactly did you win to call yourself a pro (in general the term pro doesn't fit since means that you are doing something as a profession and you are not making a living trough playing quake)?

Other than that:

Play CS:S and CS 1.6 to prepare for CS:GO since it probably will be the next "big" competitive FPS and probably the only one with good money to be won. Appart from that it's looking grimm in terms of competitive FPS on the PC, you could try Console FPS (Halo) as suggested above or you could try SCII or LoL/DotA2 if you think you could manage them.

Most 1.6 pros won't play cs:go if the game stays the way it is right now.

its all about money now, same as starcraft2... if it goes big thats a simple decision between continue being a sorry ass noone/hasbeen in your beloved game or capitalize on your skills in the new one until the current top players switch.
